Work pay review disappointment

I am so mad I could cry!!
Had our work pay reviews this week.
I received and outstanding in my year end review ( very hard to get) and a promotion ( chose to stay at a lower level last year to gain more experience and more chance of decent pay rise this year) so I waited it out go over and above received fantastic feedback and I got the most appalling shitest increase of £900 a year. Wft !! I was gob smacked. Usual bullshit excuses goes on prior year you got double what everyone else got. It's private sector all on different pay so it's all irrelevant that I got double everyone else. My pay is low and I know it is but instead of complaining I've always tried to exceed my goals and work for a pay rise. It's seems they only had out decent pay rises when you leave or have another job waiting in the wings.
I am so mad and fucked off. Team leader said they are halting my promotion to go ahead with it in June as more chance of head office agreeing a pay rise out of pay review window.
I know my team leader is only the messenger but I actually want to laugh in her face at the fucking minimal shit £900 they think is ok.
I don't want to leave as it's flexible and benefits are good but I am so underpaid it's a joke.
I want to send her an email to say how dissatisfied and upset I am but not sure it will help. Do I want until June or voice my annoyance now - advice needed .
Been told this morning ( in confidence by a work friend) another colleague had gone in with another job offer and she got want she wanted but I am just not that kind of person to lie or make up a job offer pathetic aren't I

This tells you that they’ll pay you the minimum they think they need to keep you. The fact you thought you’d wait for a promotion so you can learn more sounds diligent to you. It sounds ridiculous to the ambitious idiots above you who don’t care whether they can do a job, to fight for the promotion into it.

Just go and get a new job.

Grand total of 3.92% 🤣🤣🤣

I got nothing last year and suspect it'll be the same this year. Annoys me too so from where I am, you're luckier than me.

The only way I got decent pay rises was to job hop, so I did.

You need to treat this like a business project. What’s the business case for giving you the pay rise? What do you add over and above the job you are doing? How much money did you save for the organisation or revenue did you earn above expectations? What market reports of salaries for the job you do can you find, so you can benchmark your salary against the going rate? If no reports, what salaries are similar jobs at the same level advertised at? Are there similar positions inside your organisation advertised internally to benchmark against? Etc etc. Good luck.

Just thought I'd mentioned that National Insurance Employers contributions and the national minimum wage have gone up/are going up this tax year. This will have quite an impact on businesses - particularly larger ones, they may seem their (Paye) liabilities go up £1000s (some up to £100,000) which in turn affects the bottom line and the ability to give pay rises to employees.

Little update for you and again another blow to me, we are at a pint where we select our benefits end of financial year so pension contributions buy holiday buy a bike etc etc and at my current levels of benefits ( they are only pension contributions and I buy a weeks holiday for childcare) I now fall below minimum wage!! So probably can't keep paying the same onto my pension or buy holiday I am waiting for HR to confirm. Surely that's not fair and a detriment to me!

I understand MW is increasing but I don't understand how it works with salary sacrifice- does anyone know? I think my hourly wage is about £16

Will my employers tell me to lower my pension and not buy holiday or will they have to do something about my wage.
I am so angry 😡
Ps looking for jobs and speaking to someone about a potential job this week

Whilst it's not going to be what you want to hear, the holiday purchase is a perk. I'm fairly certain they won't have to do a thing about your actual pay as you are choosing to buy extra holiday.

It's more the fact I don't have this option because it takes my wage below MW. I understand it's a perk but what use is it if I can't because of my wages and most other employees can't

It's available for people to take though, it's down to the individual to make that choice. Ask HR for advice and see what they say. Depending on that, dust down the cv but it's a pretty hideous market out there.

HR came back and said sorry it's not more positive news for you but there isn't anything they can do. I have voiced my thoughts to my team leader
