To ask how to best handle this car blocking my drive?

Parkingdrama00 · 16/02/2025 14:07

I live near to a football stadium and the team are currently playing. Somebody has parked right across my drive and blocked me in. I assume they have gone the match.

You need a residents pass to park round here and it doesn't look like they have one. Looks like I'm trapped until they come back.

What's best to do? Can I report them to the council? Leave a note? Confront them upon their return. Or is all of that pointless?

I wanted to go to the supermarket which will likely be closed by the time they're back.

You do realise the whole point of this thread is that she can’t move her car…???

Hence I said Once you're out

No more updates, I think that's the last of the drama. What a strange day! I am settled with a wine and the curtains are drawn so nothing else to be seen.

Thanks for all the advice and following along with me.

Thank for the thread OP.
Enjoy the wine, I toast my glass to you 💐

MissAnthr0pe · 16/02/2025 19:05

Well done OP! I would have done the same whether I had somewhere to go or not. The driver will certainly think twice about doing this again.

I learnt so much from this post @Parkingdrama00 thanks for asking thr question and thanks Mnrs for explaining what to do.

Best bit of advice I've seen on here for ages.

And to @Parkingdrama00 wind your neck in.

Yes I agree noone would come to anyone's aid, but the AH shouldn't have parked across someone's driveway. They should have paid £20 parking cos now it'll be a few £00 to get their car back 😎🤣🤑 lesson (hopefully) learnt.

If there is parking on OP's road she could make money by letting out her drive for parking via a website, having parked her car out on the road long before the match, my daughter always does this when they go to places like Wembley.

@CauseImMrDarkside 600 or so posts, before you plopped onto the thread with your words of wisdom. Did you not bother to think that things might have moved on?!

RTFT. Always.

Sorry, didn't have time, so added a quick note. Then got time to RTFT and realised I was a long time late to the party!
Jeez, you peeps are soo aggressive ! 🙄

Hekett · 16/02/2025 19:09

£160… would have been cheaper to pay the £20 to park 🤣

EarthSight · 16/02/2025 19:11

DreamW3aver · 16/02/2025 18:50

And you didn't think in 25 pages it might have been mentioned 😁

Oh behave! I'm not going to check that many pages!!

You missed the point. You don't have to read a whole thread before commenting - but if a thread has 600 posts when you open it, the conversation has moved a LONG way since the opening post so you can fairly assume your pretty obvious take has already been given.

itsgettingweird · 16/02/2025 19:15

Justalittlehandhold. It's not 2025 who is being belligerent.

She was actually most calm and also jokey with us when we made jokes about it being her car. She explained why nicely.

You need a BIG handhold if her responses to YOU not reading the responses upsets YOU so much.

I imagine the driver has completely forgotten what your house looks like, seeing as they were so contemptuous to park on your drive so clearly they have no regard for your property. And as such probably have wandered around for a while looking for their car before perhaps the penny finally dropped!

I suppose you could either just read the very few posts from the OP or think that its probably inconceivable that in all those 100s of posts no one's suggested the obvious option so doesn't need pointing out

God I THOROUGHLY apologise. I should have realised it's Sunday and therefore a grumpy day for so many on this thread.

Just to be clear the Police would have towed this car anyway. It was not relevant if the OP needed to look after her mum or not. Police have arrangements for match days to move cars out the way quickly. The car was blocking a drive. The two truck took it to the pound. According to the Merseyside Police website the release fee is £160. However (big but), the pound is not open until Monday am. So a day off work potentially and a trick back up to Liverpool from Wolverhampton....and Wolverhampton lost. Not a good day for the rogue motorist.

I split with my ex back in September, a selfish thoughtless self important tosser. He is a Liverpool fan living a good way away from Anfield (geographically much closer to Wolves!), am I evil for hoping that this is him?

I might be wrong but I think app users don't have the button for "see all".

Oh, I didn't realise that. That's rubbish!

itsgettingweird · 16/02/2025 19:53

I use the app and can see OP posts only.

I click on the funnel looking bit on the top right and select OP.

I think you can select posters who have responded but that's a premium feature?

What a shame for the car owner. Hopefully next time he’ll look more closely at where he’s parking.

You can't filter posts on the mobile app. At least not on Android. I can only filter when using the app on my IPad. Hence why not everyone can filter to show only the OP.

Anyway, great outcome OP! Hope you have a restful evening.

No. Not aggressive. Just frustrated because people do this so often - can't be bothered to read the OP but assume that their own post will, somehow, impart words of wisdom that are completely different, and more insightful, than the hundreds of posters before them.

Can they be highlighted?

No, not on Android mobile app.

but then why dont people also take up this issue with those that answer a completely different point that has no bearing on what the thread was about or what the op wanted to discuss on any given thread etc

then it may prevent more derailed threads overall and everyone stays on topic
