Why do some posters NOT read the full thread.

A few threads now where people don't read the full thread and come back with a completely different take on the problem.

Are they lazy, stupid or can't read/understand the written words.

OP posts:
Liz1tummypain · 12/02/2025 15:25

They don't see the need and the threads get very long quite fast. That's my excuse anyway

PrivateCosts · 12/02/2025 15:29

If a thread is over say five pages, I make sure to read all the OP’s comments at least for useful updates.

jannier · 12/02/2025 15:31

Not all phones allow you to see all the updates from the op..and if your reading through pages of stuff you comment as you go or would never find it again.

stayathomer · 12/02/2025 15:32

They’ve only got pockets of time, see a title that interests them and then realise the op has a lot to explain!

lnks · 12/02/2025 15:33

Because some of us have neurodiversity's that impact our ability to read really long threads quickly enough to keep up.

LittleRedRidingHoody · 12/02/2025 15:34

It annoys me! I get not reading the whole thread and so just reading OPs comments, but it's the ones who come on and berate the OP for something they've already clarified is not what they meant.

And this sentence "Are they lazy, stupid or can't read/understand the written words" Is really offensive. I might call you stupid for not considering the fact that some people with dyslexia, ADHD might struggle with really long threads

XenoBitch · 12/02/2025 15:35

Because some threads are huge. You can select to read OP's posts.

lnks · 12/02/2025 15:35

I doubt the OP will be back. This is such a rage bait thread

blippityblop5 · 12/02/2025 15:36

@lnks Then don't reply to it. Simple as.

Fencehedge · 12/02/2025 15:36

They don't understand how to apply the filter to just read just the OP's posts

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 12/02/2025 15:36

Sometimes I have such a strong opinion on a subject I dive straight in. Most of the time I do RTFT or OPs posts

lnks · 12/02/2025 15:38

So you are suggesting only people without disabilities should be allowed to engage with threads

Meandhimtogether · 12/02/2025 15:39

It's not with the problem of keeping up.
It's the fact that some PPS change the narrative.

Example a OP posted that she was the only family member who didn't know about her brother getting married. The SECRECY from the family was the problem but some people were replying it might be because the registry office couldn't hold a lot of guests.

OP posts:
blippityblop5 · 12/02/2025 15:39

@lnks If you haven't RTFT, your engagement is unlikely to be useful to the OP.

MoonWoman69 · 12/02/2025 15:40

It's the ones that comment, who don't even properly read the OP that annoy me! They then comment, with a completely different scenario! Reading the comments sometimes, it's like you're in a parallel universe!
It's one thing having misread a couple of words, but to read the whole thing, then twist it and come up with another story, is quite baffling!

lnks · 12/02/2025 15:40

The ableism on this thread is appalling.

CombatBarbie · 12/02/2025 15:41

If its already big, I just read Ops posts because undoubtedly it will answer something obvious that needs clarification or has not been mentioned/drip fed.

HeyMuggie · 12/02/2025 15:41

@Meandhimtogether Because we clearly don't have as much spare time as you ?

Petrine · 12/02/2025 15:41

A lot of people don’t even read the original post, never mind the whole thread.

loropianalover · 12/02/2025 15:42

It’s extremely annoying. If a thread is 16 pages long, clearly a lot of discussion has gone on. Why would you think your bog standard ‘LTB!’ reply is anything other than redundant?? You don’t have to comment.

lnks · 12/02/2025 15:43

If you want to know what we are up against, people like @loropianalover have left laughing faces on my posts, I am literally being laughed at because I have a disability.

I laughed at your post saying you bet the OP won’t be back, I found that funny as it’s often the case that OP’s don’t come back to threads like this and it descends to madness.

I didn’t laugh at any of your other posts about ableism or you specifically being neurodiverse. Don’t act like I was laughing at your disability which I didn’t even know existed 🤣

Some threads are really very long, so after reading the OP's message, I'd try to respond to a question or address points raised in it on assumption that the OP still wants comments/responses.
