To not give her a lift?

My child does an activity, once a week, that's roughly a 30 minute drive from my house, so an hour long round trip.

However, one of the parents, who I have never spoken to, has asked other parents where I live, and on discovering that I drive past her house, has decided that I will be taking her child to and from the activity from now on. She has not asked me this! Last week she just left the child at the activity and told the child I would be giving them a ride home. I gave the child a ride home, but not willingly! This child shoved my child out of the way and demanded the front seat, then kicked the back of my seat the whole way home. My child has autism and really needs a quiet car on the way home to decompress, this was quite an ordeal for her.

I'm taking my daughter to her activity later and I'm having anxiety over it happening again. Am I being unreasonable for not wanting to give this child a ride home?!

But surely the leader would be the last one to leave? When are they planning to meet?

LookItsMeAgain · 14/02/2025 09:45

I did not have this on my 2025 bingo card!!!

😂

Yes, it would make more sense if she was having an affair with one of the dads - using the time when class is on to rendezvous 🫠
Are you sure you have all the right details OP?

After the activity but before the CFker was due to be home from whatever 'activity' they were doing that meant they couldn't bring their own child home, I'm guessing.

BuildbyNumbere · 14/02/2025 09:46

So did you speak to the parent when you dropped the child home????

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 14/02/2025 09:47

@DreamingOfHotPotatoes bloody hell OP!!! that is some update!!! cant believe the cheek of the mother and the activity leader! I would be shouting loudly from the rooftops and the group whatsapp that you, in fact, are not the other woman the cf's partner left for!! and tell them all that the cf is in fact apparently having an affair with the activity leader!! really blow it all up!!! what a shock!! make sure that you use the word apparently!!!!

SofaSpuds · 14/02/2025 09:49

It was a lodger/ boarder, not a parent, who was there when child was dropped home.

SezFrankly · 14/02/2025 09:49

Absolutely not.

“I’m sorry, no arrangements made and we have other plans, you’ll have to call your mum”

I'd say that we weren't going straight home after and are going onto other plans, so they'll have to make other arrangements.

Massively cheeky to expect a lift and not even ask.

DreamingOfHotPotatoes · 14/02/2025 07:56

Sorry I left the thread for a bit. I have been doing a LOT of digging! And my goodness do I have an update!

The leader's irritated reaction as if I was personally responsible for causing an inconvenience, the hostility from a few of the other mums, it just didn't sit right with me, something felt off. These were not normal reactions! I messaged a few other parents privately and got a very curt response from one - apparently after all I'd done, giving a lift home was the least I could do! This completely baffled me, so I rang another mum who has always seemed reasonable. I felt bad for her, as she obviously felt like I'd put her on the spot, but after some dithering she confessed that she had heard the CF's husband had left because of an affaire and it had been implied that I was the Other Woman!!!!! I was absolutely appalled as this is NOT the case! And I made very sure she knew that! I then did more digging and talking to people, and well, it's all come out now!!

Do you want to know the REAL story? CF's husband left because SHE was the one having the affaire! With, wait for it.....the activity leader!!!!!! They had hatched a plan where she would nip round to his and wait there for him, while muggins here took her child home!! I'm absolutely gobsmacked at the audacity of the two of them!! And RAGING at the gossip they were happy to have people believe about me! Apparently I was never named, just heavily hinted towards.

CFery indeed! Unbelievable 😱

TinyFlamingo · 14/02/2025 09:56

I wouldn't use the word "anymore".

I am not able to provide lifts, especially when I've not agreed to give a lift in advance. I will not be returning xx child, please make your own arrangements.

strawberry2017 · 14/02/2025 09:56

Omg! So they made you the bad guy so they could basically meet up. I would put it in the group chat exactly what you know and tell them everything you have found out!

Itisjustmyopinion · 14/02/2025 09:57

Well that escalated from a bit of a CF dumping their child on you to a WTF episode of a soap!

Sounds like her web of lies will soon unravel so best to step away now, even if it will be short term discomfort for your DD

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 14/02/2025 10:03

Well, that was a rollercoaster!

OK, my comment was 'Oh come on now'. That was deleted, yet 'This update seems quite unbelievable' and 'This seems far fetched' are still up? Would love a moderator to explain what the difference is.

Yes me too.
Though I'm now waiting for the MN "we are just going to take a look behind the scenes" post.

This one will probably be deleted too ...

But the timings still don't work.

Why on earth use that time for an affair? It doesn't make any sense, is CF waiting in the cloakroom for a quick bunk up?

No, CF was waiting at the group leader’s house.

Zucker · 14/02/2025 10:21

Wowsers this is totally brand new and exciting information. What a time to be alive.

My comment was, I think, "this is too much". It could be in reference to anything - the story could be too much or the CF could be too much, I was deliberately ambiguous.

There was no need for it to be deleted.

I got a 24 ban before for trying to defend my (what I thought was innocuous) comment before... so I'm sayin' nowt!
