Long term user but don't want to use my usual name and you'll see why.

I haven't pooped in over 10 days, possibly longer.

Dreadful haemorrhoids at the moment and waiting for a consultant appointment but things are really bad now. I've spent the weekend using various laxatives, drinking coffee, orange juice, castor pil, stool softeners and nothing happening. Seems to be a blockage because I'm only passing diarrhea and this morning, I woke up to a leakage. Also awful nausea but no vomiting. The pain is unreal.

I'm at loss. Please can someone give me some advice.

Not a poo troll but I can't face talking to anyone IRL about this

I think you should phone 111 and ask for advice. The amount of things you have taken should have done something, I would suspect a blockage.

TemporaryPosition · 10/02/2025 06:42

Assume you've been to the GP, can you go back with present symptoms until you wait for consultant to deal with the overall issue

BMW6 · 10/02/2025 06:42

A & E would be appropriate OP. Can be life threatening and you need to be seen to ASAP. Go in NOW.

Seawolves · 10/02/2025 06:45

With the symptoms you describe you need to go to A&E.

BMW6 · 10/02/2025 06:45

I really don't want to scare you but Matthew Perry nearly died in very similar circumstances but his colon burst on the way into Hospital.

Go there now.

parietal · 10/02/2025 06:45

A and E. You need a proper medical check and possible urgent treatment

DustyLee123 · 10/02/2025 06:47

You need an emema or evacuating, I’d go to A&E.

Urgent12345 · 10/02/2025 06:54

Oh God...I was afraid you'd say that. @BMW6 I didn't know that. I guess I have been deluding myself that it would be ok with time.

I'm in Ireland so no 111 or equivalent (really wish there was though. I think it would be so helpful to control numbers in A & E)

I work from home so I can be close to the loo except for school runs. Poor DH didn't want to leave me last night but I forced him out the door because he was driving 300km for a meeting this morning. Would I be unreasonable to wait until this evening and then head to A & E?

I wouldn’t wait.
If you have to wait you aren’t going to be able to eat much or you are going to add to the blockage if there is one.
Its too risky if you are home alone, you could collapse if it bursts.

best thing you can do for yourself and your family right now is get to a and e, don’t risk your health

I haven't eaten in over a week

NigelHarmansNewWife · 10/02/2025 07:02

Well that's clearly not right. Go to A&E now. Everything else can wait. Your health is the most important thing now. Can anyone you know at least take you there if you can't get a taxi? I wouldn't advise driving when in pain and not having eaten for a week.

Urgent12345 · 10/02/2025 07:03

I've kept saying I'm fine. It'll be fine but I guess not. I have to get 2 kids to school and then my DS to an orthodontist appointment this morning. When I drop him back to school then I'm going to have to sort something out.

OP posts:
BMW6 · 10/02/2025 07:18

Don't wait. This is a Real emergency. Get someone to take kids to school or stay home with them. Cancel the orthodontist.

You must realise your life is in danger. You are in pain because of the pressure building up and up.in your bowel with no release.

Don't leave it till you get to the ruptured colon or vomiting shit stage.

Shoxfordian · 10/02/2025 07:19

Go to hospital now op, never mind the orthodontist and the school run

CherryRipe1 · 10/02/2025 07:23

Get to the hospital asap!!!

NestaArcheron · 10/02/2025 07:54

I have seen this first hand (former HCA) and it can and will kill you if it's not seen to. A burst colon, septic bowel etc are no joke. Please go to the hospital.

Hopeallwillbefine · 10/02/2025 09:21

Please don’t wait, go to a and e asap.

BMW6 · 10/02/2025 18:03

I am hoping for a happy update.......

backawayfatty1 · 10/02/2025 18:39

Are you okay OP?

BMW6 · 11/02/2025 09:57

Still hoping to hear OP's OK

Urgent12345 · 11/02/2025 12:09

Thank you so much for all your input. I decided to stay home yesterday and rest and relax as much as possible in a last ditch effort to see if things would get moving.

No joy at all and feeling worse so I was first in the door to the emergency walk-in at the GP Surgery.

I was referred on to A & E where I am now. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks again everyone. You all got me to take my head out of the sand

Madamecholetsbonnet · 11/02/2025 12:14

Good luck OP.

I didn’t poop for three weeks after DC2. Had to have a mini enema in the end. Luckily SIL was a district nurse, so as soon as I fessed up to her she came round with the gear!

I hope you get it sorted soon.

BMW6 · 11/02/2025 16:20

Well I'm relieved you are in Hospital at last!

Keep us updated please 🙏
