Ainu to think Angela Rayners has been set up to fail on her 1.5m homes target ?
you can barely get planning permission through for a small extension in under 10 weeks let alone 1.5 m new homes
Every month that goes by the shortage compounds
I wonder if Kier has set her up to fail

They're Reform with llamas added

🤣🤣🤣 you win the thread ES!

Indeed! Made my day

Parsley1234 · 12/02/2025 21:18

In fairness it would be too fabulous to have llamas sitting

Parsley1234 · 12/02/2025 22:41

On a more serious note just reading all of the farmers threads from Monday and realising just how damaging these clowns are. I have never felt so scared of the government and their intent ever I am 58. With most other leaders I felt there was intelligence and integrity but not this lot its going to be a long 4 years

EasternStandard · 13/02/2025 07:14

Excusing the shit growth figures and talking about turning around earlier ones

They did. They took 0.7 per quarter in early 2024 and killed it

No realisation nothing.

I know what you mean Parsley, it's depressing isn't it. I've been off work this week and I've consumed far too much news. We see our local farmer almost daily, he wears a Stuck Farmer hoodie permanently now.
We should all be pissed off at this government, even those who vote labour. They have misled everyone. I saw a woman unable to pay for all of her shopping at the supermarket yesterday, haven't seen that for ages! I felt sick for her.
Appart from the obvious damage to livelihoods they have caused, I really worry about having a man like Starmer in No10 when we have Trump in the Whitehouse.

EasternStandard · 13/02/2025 09:39

Listening to the MP this morning it's the lack of accountability that's ridiculous

BoE halve growth and increase inflation and still they can't relate it to their policies

I usually zone out from Labour as they are so dire, it's the only way to deal with their cluelessness

Sherbs12 · 13/02/2025 10:49

Just for someone wider context on the pp observing a woman not being able to pay for her shopping at the supermarket yesterday, here is some data from the Trussell Trust on food parcel provision. Note the increase from 2010 to 2024…

Each and every case of this is awful and unacceptable, so while I understand your upset, the reality is that many people have been struggling to pay for food for a long time, sadly.

I'm not disputing it Sherbs! I have been buying food throughout that period too. I just haven't seen someone having to remove stuff at the till in a long time. I've really noticed that food has gone up again since the new year. You must see it too?

Sherbs12 · 13/02/2025 11:06

@TheNuthatch Yes, I absolutely do see it - it’s horrendous and I understand where you’re coming from (sorry, I didn’t mean to imply that at all). It’s just the sheer scale of the issue and then reading how supermarket profits have soared, although I’m sure someone else will tell me that’s just how economics works.

I know you didn't mean that, no offence taken :)
They do have to return a profit for shareholders, see pensions etc also.
Even if the likes of Tesco are profiteering, Tesco's wages bill is expected to rise by £250million per year! That is 1 billion across the parliament. There's no way any company would just absorb that.

Reeves has been caught with more lies on her CV. Happy Birthday Chancellor!

Edited

Just heard the response to this which was even more irritating

'Her team' apparently

TheNuthatch · 13/02/2025 12:34

Reeves has now also been accused of being involved in an expenses scandal at HBOS!

She needs to go!

EasternStandard · 13/02/2025 12:40

Is Starmer going to wheel out the we don't want to be a distraction line yet..

The fact that BBC are running this is significant. They have been pretty quiet on any criticism of Labour so far

Not yet, he's had to be rushed away from his engagement because of protesting farmers!

No doubt the response will be that the BBC are now right wing. Its a fucking joke.

EasternStandard · 13/02/2025 12:52

Haha I'm listening to Times radio in between R6 music and heard the tractors

Good for them

TheNuthatch · 13/02/2025 13:01

I need to stay off MN for a while, I'm too angry today! I've just infiltrated the Starmerista thread 🙈.

EasternStandard · 13/02/2025 13:16

Haha @TheNuthatch that made me laugh

Hang out on these threads, easier

Will do! They've let me off lightly (so far)

TheNuthatch · 13/02/2025 13:39

After being rushed away from the nasty farmers, Starmer has arrived back in Downing Street. He's still wearing his Bob the Builder costume!

LostittoBostik · 13/02/2025 14:37

@TheNuthatch

The BBC is always right wing/left wing depending on the person who is criticising it.

Because- shockingly - the BBC is actually balanced.

Oh that made me laugh! I was at the farmer protests in London on Monday, and back in November too,he always makes sure that he's not around,so this time the farmers came to him. I hear he had to be helicoptered out.🤣
One of my contacts told me this morning the NFU chairman has been asked to a meeting at the Treasury on Tuesday. I really hope that there's some movement on this AND the £50 a tonne carbon tax on fertilizer. You know, the fertiliser that is used to grow your food. Food prices are only going to climb unfortunately.

JoyousGreyOrca · 13/02/2025 15:18

I have zero sympathy for the protesting farmers. None of them cared as real family farms were decimated by the drastic reduction on tenant farms.
There are lots of other family businesses. B and Bs, hotels, camping grounds, shops, catering companies, stables, etc etc. They all pay inheritance tax.
