Ainu to think Angela Rayners has been set up to fail on her 1.5m homes target ?
you can barely get planning permission through for a small extension in under 10 weeks let alone 1.5 m new homes
Every month that goes by the shortage compounds
I wonder if Kier has set her up to fail

All of it yes absolutely

Bumped up 'elite border security', hotels, enforced return rather than voluntary return flights

Many left for ROI voluntarily that will have slowed down

Yes for those who cite Rwanda costs I'd like to see what Labour are spending now

As numbers go up

You will have to wait for the 24/25 numbers for comparison

https://www.ein.org.uk/news/new-nao-overview-shows-home-office-total-spending-asylum-and-migration-2023-24

New NAO overview shows Home Office total spending on asylum and migration for 2023-24

£4.7 billion spent on asylum support in 2023-24, representing less than 0.5% of all government spending

So today (so far) in Labour land, they have filmed raids on migrants parading them for tv and click bait. Remind anyone of May's 'hostile environment'? Also another MP has now been suspended for comments on the antisemitic, racist, sexist what's app group.

Meanwhile 'nasty nigel' is at the farmers protest, showing his support and reminding them to protest peacefully.

EasternStandard · 10/02/2025 17:06

The numbers are accessible now. Including how many since the GE. They are not hidden.

As much as people are loyal to Labour failure on 'smashing gangs' will see Reform votes go up.

Starmer will struggle on that one.

He'll do mad stuff like film people being deported but it won't help

nearlylovemyusername · 10/02/2025 17:08

@Catsandcheese

You also need to give the incoming government a bit of time - so far they have increased the minimum wage, looked elsewhere from the ordinary tax payer to find money for necessary spending.

To give them a bit of time to do exactly what? to concrete our green belt? To push AZN to open new manufacturing site in US? To push everyone like Charlie Mullins abroad? to push our young high fliers away? To push unemployment up hence welfare bill up, inflation up, then increase public sector wages again and so raise taxes again? Rinse and repeat?

As to looked elsewhere from the ordinary tax payers - how much was your weekly food shop in October-November last year? How much was it last week? 10% up? my one was about that. I'm an ordinary tax payer and I'm paying for this Labour stupidity already. This 10% increase is precisely because of October budget.

The gov are learning on the job what not to do. Otherwise you get recession

This is the essence of it - Labour aren't learning. They "are prepared to be unpopular". So we will get recession.

Do you have link?

I think that's a deflection from don't notice we're failing

@bemoresloth the gov publish numbers weekly, it's as easy for you to google as anyone else

Numbers crossing is all recorded, by week or month

TheNuthatch · 10/02/2025 17:22

GDP figures released on Thursday.
That should fill us all with hope and optimism!

nearlylovemyusername · 10/02/2025 17:29

Let me give you just one example.

Labour increased NMW for youngsters. Great move you think, all fair.
Now think for 5 more sec. Younger inexperienced employee joining the business require a lot of support no matter how great they are. This is even not mentioning some wide perceptions of work ethics of 18-20 y olds. If I'm a business owner who needs to invest in this support and I hire them at a lower rate, it's a net net for me. I spend time and effort but save a bit of money. Now for the same wage I can hire either this youngster or someone with experience in the field which is relevant to me. Whom will I chose?

Have you noticed recent threads about how impossible it is for current grads to find a job?

(sorry for grammar and spelling)

YABU to recycle a snarky little insult used to belittle one woman so that you can belittle another.

Came on to say exactly the same.

How patronising and belittling this post is, you should be ashamed.of yourself.

marshmallowmix · 10/02/2025 17:54

Yep the cost of groceries has gone up since the disaster of a budget in October!

it is a nightmare on top of water bills shooting up from April and council tax hikes it’s terrible times right now …

Increasing the NMW and the NI increase is a double whammy for business it is crippling…it’s almost as if they are actively working against businesses in the private sector it’s appalling. They really are clueless not to realise what would happen

nearlylovemyusername · 10/02/2025 18:00

If someone made such decisions in a private business it would be classified gross negligence.

Is it only me who wonder why they refused FOI request to publish OBR assessment of some policies?

If Nasty Nigel hadn't whipped up support for Brexit by promising people a load of nonsense and fairytales, the farmers would be a lot less screwed than they currently are. IHT is a drop in the ocean compared to the loss of EU subsidies.

This!
BofE expect inflation to rise to 3.7 also. It's shocking.
Thr least well off will suffer the most, the very people labour claim they want to help.

Of course he has. She will be the fall guy. She’s a bit like Harris who was put in charge of the US border, when her handlers knew she had neither the intelligence, nor the political ability to get something like that done. Rayner is in same league.

Two Tier has his favourites. Rachel from accounts and Red Miliband. The former trashes the economy to give billions to the latter to piss up the wall. And the country just plunges deeper into oblivion.

Buckle up everyone. It’s gonna be a rough ride.

Does anyone know how many she has built so far? She should have built 150k so far.

The faux outrage at OP’s title is simply a way to deflect attention from the fact that tis government is atrocious, even worse the last one. And Rayner is of low calibre and she’s being found out.

Nope, nothing comes remotely close to their awful predecessors;

Dave the Prat gave us Brexit,
Boris the Twat gave us the PPE debacle and party gate amongst others,
Liz the Lettuce tanked the economy, ….

Don’t worry, we won’t forget or forgive them in a hurry. 🤨

Truss only did what Reeves has done. Reeves called for Truss to resign ergo Reeves should resign.
