Saw CD in Milton Keynes last night and his voice was of incredible - of angelic perfection. It was incredible to hear him live. I read today that Elton John said in 2013 that he thought CD had the best voice in the UK.

Just can't stop thinking about how good CD sounded last night!

I love CD, when he’s tunes are on I’ll sing to them. I think I was early 20’s dancing to his music in clubs.
Leigh Francis aka Keith Lemon is creepy and vomit inducing. He’s as funny as reoccurring thrush.

I didn’t realise he was touring, I might have a look and see if there are tickets near me.

Did he sing more recent songs or the classics?

canipetthatdawggg · 08/02/2025 23:10

I liked the couple of songs he did with kaytranada.

He sang for 2 hours straight all the old classics some of his new album songs - maybe 3 new songs - which of course no one new because I don't think the new album has dropped yet ? He did his scatting / rapping as well which was just phenomenal to hear live. Recent songs like in your hands, sos. Rewind, fill me in, 16, walking away, rendezvous, 7 days, not giving up, heartline, baseline drops. He also did a ts5 set where he sang over a few songs which was a bit different like flowers, bills bills bills etc. That was how he started off at 14 selling tapes of himself singing over other artist's songs. Would really recommend it you can get to a show. Pls come back to this thread with your review if you do! X

His music doesn't appeal to me and I couldn't name any of his songs as they all sound the same to me.

WhatterySquash · 08/02/2025 23:16

I was in a Tesco Express the other day and Walking Away came on. I'd totally forgotten how much I like it and how good a singer he is.

My husband wasn't really a fan but became one last night...he said it was really impressive seeing someone so talented doing what they are good at.

When did singers become 'vocalists' and why?

Blisssful10 · 08/02/2025 23:29

I don't know for sure but aren't vocalists professional singers? I could call myself a singer but I'm the sort of singer who can take paint off the walls in the higher ranges. So I think their professional terms are vocalists/ recording artists.

I think Lemar is a superior vocalist (where my Fame Academy peeps at??) but he is very talented.

I do think CD is a tad... odd. But I also think the treatment he got during the Bo Selecta days was really unfair, and hard for him to navigate - in trying to look like he was in on the joke, he lost some credibility, which he didn't deserve.

Agree about Lamar but not CD.

Bo Selecta was mean, but it took the piss out of him because he was a bit of a wanker. I know you have to have self belief in that industry, but CD comes across as arrogant and delusional (hence the sketch where he compared himself and his level of fame in the US to Philip Schofield in the UK).

Barkingupthewrongroof · 08/02/2025 23:42

I listened to recently to the Louis Theroux podcast with Craig David, found it fascinating.
He discusses at length the emotional and professional impact the Leigh Francis jokes had on him.. really quite devastating for his career and life.

What happened to that 'comedian'? Probably on universal credit now. Was one of the unfunniest people I've ever seen.

Are you for real??

Dull and boring is more the way I'd describe his music.

That he is creepy. Thought that was self explanatory 😂

Bananalanacake · 09/02/2025 00:03

My brother told me he'd been to see him perform a gig, I was totally confused as my brother is into heavy metal, I said "that's not your type of music, didn't he write that song about shagging all week"? Upon which DB said, "no, wrong person, he was the head of sixth form in The Inbetweeners".
I had confused him with Greg Davies.

Yellowrosessmellpetaly · 09/02/2025 00:07

No accounting for taste.

mitogoshigg · 09/02/2025 00:11

Comes down to what you like, I couldn't name a CD song but went to the opera recently and they really were amazing vocalists and performed without microphones with a full orchestra, no pop performance can pull that offGrin

Just what you like. Now Gary Barlow Smile
