A man called me stupid in front of my daughter

As I was exiting the lift with my two-year-old in the pram, another pram went out ahead of us. Since I was backing out, I didn’t realize they were still near the elevator entrance, and I accidentally bumped into the woman with the other pram. I was looking at my phone while maneuvering, but I immediately apologized. However, her husband deliberately said, "She’s on her phone, she’s stupid." My little girl heard it and repeated, "Mum, are you stupid." I was absolutely fuming and really wanted to retaliate. I was so angry and told him that I already apologized and I think you're stupid and rude. I know I should have just ignored it but it really made me so angry.

Wow why didn’t anyone tell me I could go around insulting people as long as I say ‘He is a fucking stupid man’ instead of ‘You are a fucking stupid man’?! 😂

Not talking to someone?
It's not their business
That's how misunderstandings and arguments happen

"You just called me a stupid man"
"No I was talking to my friend about someone at work and you're eavesdropping'

FallOfTheHouseOfUtterlyButterly · 31/01/2025 21:35

Not a ducking man but ok

Starting to call someone a man on here is a sure sign you know you've lost an argument

MRAs aren’t always men

I might try this in Tesco and see how long it is before I get a punch in the face 😂

It's not nothing

OP was not paying attention and ran her pram into someone

Oh Christ not you as well.

Read the OP. She didn’t am her pram into anyone.

So (to use your example), you’re presumably happy for your colleagues to say ‘ he is a fucking stupid man’ as long as they don’t say ‘you’re a fucking stupid man’?

Because that’s what you’re saying, that OP should be fine with being called stupid.

FallOfTheHouseOfUtterlyButterly · 31/01/2025 21:41

JandamiHash · 31/01/2025 21:37

If you’re talking DIRECTLY ABOUT THEM then yes I fully expect them to join in.

I can’t go to the playground at pick up and stand next to Lucy’s Mum and say to someone else “God isn’t Lucy’s mum an idiot” without some sort of backlash.

How on earth is calling someone stupid in front of them and them commenting the same as a stranger butting into your conversation 😂😂😂

Christ but you MRAs are thick

"Weh you are a man" isn't an argmuent
Deliberately standing next to someone and randomly bitching about them is also not the same as commenting to the person you're with about an incident that just happened

JandamiHash · 31/01/2025 21:41

PeppyGreenFinch · 31/01/2025 21:37

Why don’t you like ducking?

Maybe they should have ducked the time that they got hit on the head and it knocked their IQ down by 100 points. Might have the ability to read posts properly that way.

FallOfTheHouseOfUtterlyButterly · 31/01/2025 21:42

All the man haters are out in force today I see 😉

It’s not your business if someone is insulting you within earshot?

So I can go and call someone a cunt when they’re standing without earshot and it’s none of their business?

namechangetheworld · 31/01/2025 21:43

Why do you keep insisting OP didn't hit anyone with her pram?

Act stupid, be prepared to be called stupid

Why do you keep ignoring the question on why you think it’s bad for OP say stupid in front of her child but it’s ok for the man to say stupid in front of his child?

FallOfTheHouseOfUtterlyButterly · 31/01/2025 21:45

The irony of posters saying a man is a "bully" and a "big baby" and acting like he deeply insulted a woman because he called her stupid and then making comments about other poster's intelligence because they disagree with you

Well the man acted stupid by being insulting after an apology, so he deserved to be called stupid.

What does “weh you are a man” mean?

Ot is when the comment is an insult about the person nearby.

Tell you what, why don’t you go to your local Primark with a friend and insult every person who looks at their phone within earshot - see what happens.

A half hearted "Oh sorry" doesn't mean anything

It's pretty clear OPbdoesnt even really think she did anything wrong

Apology was pointless

Because she didn’t.

Why are you insisting she die?

Tell you what: read the OP again, slowly, and picture the scene in your head

Constantly going on about MRAs is basically MN speak for "you are a man pretending to be a woman and your opinion is invalid"

That's not remotely the same situation and you know it.

Ignore the man?
Move on with her life?
Acknowledge she was in the wrong?

I wonder how this thread would be going if the OP was a man and had bumped into a woman because he was on his phone.

I’m making comments about poster’s intelligence because they haven’t read the OP properly, and because they come out with illogical arguments like “You can’t call someone stupid to their face but you can call them stupid to someone else standing next to them and it’s none of their business”
