Ok I was the peri menopause post wanting to be alone etc booked my night away in a Travelodge this week , had a lovely time wandering about, 2 course meal, wine, breakfast all for £60. Husband is fantastic and says if we can afford, why not do it once a month to give me the time and space i need. Is this normal and ok to do this, and does anyone else do this?

and yes ive booked for next month for £60 :)

YANBU. Yes. Do it. Yay!

LittleRedRidingHoody · 24/01/2025 15:56

Absolutely!! Enjoy!!

iamnotalemon · 24/01/2025 15:57

Sounds like a great idea to me.

How refreshing to hear you have a supportive OH (seems to be the minority on here).

WaltzingWaters · 24/01/2025 15:58

Go for it and enjoy! Ah. Sounds like bliss.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/01/2025 15:58

Sounds good! My DH retired before I did, he went on one or two holidays by himself with my full blessing.

MileyPsoriasis · 24/01/2025 15:58

God, I'd love that!
Did it make you feel good? Then yes, it's absolutely OK!
Enjoy.

Orchidsunlight · 24/01/2025 15:58

thanks i kinda feel guilty! Does mum guilt ever leave you? My husband is very good i am lucky ...its no luxury hotel but i was soooo happy in the Travelodge and had '5' yes '5' long hot showers with my new lovely shower foam, oh living the dream girls !

I think you should do it on regular basis. Your husband is all up for you doing it and he can take care of DC so no need to feel guilty.

Mangolover123 · 24/01/2025 16:04

Absolutely - I have been known to take myself off to Champneys for 1/2/3 nights!

Definitely and good for your husband, pity more men aren’t so supportive. Mine would be but I think he deserves a night away from my menopausal stress even more than I do 🤦🏻😂

Orchidsunlight · 24/01/2025 16:11

my husband has disabiliies too so he feels i need respite from him as well lol

Yes of course it’s fine, presumably your husband will also get a night’s hotel stay each month as well (if he so wishes).

randomchap · 24/01/2025 16:13

Do it

Enjoy the peace and rest

TruthThatsHardAsSteel · 24/01/2025 16:13

Of course you should do it. Absolutely. Get yourself a bag and put some little things in to take. A chocolate bar, face mask etc. Just things to get you excited. It's ok to have your own time and space. Enjoy it ❤️

murasaki · 24/01/2025 16:15

Sounds lovely, and excellent husband there.

Ellepff · 24/01/2025 16:17

This is fantastic! All green flags!

Ginkypig · 24/01/2025 16:17

I do this! I jovially call it a mental health break but actually it’s true, it’s good for my head to get some time alone out of my day to day life and recharge a bit.

for me I prefer to go less than you’re husband has suggested so I can book something a little fancier or go for more than one night. Of course its completely personal preference isn’t it.

I go probably 3-4 times a year anywhere from 2-7 nights depending on how expensive due to the time of year of how much free time I have to spare for it.
if I go for longer especially in winter when prices are much cheaper because it’s out of season iv found it’s cheaper and an be nicer to book a self catering place but one that is close enough to a village or town so I can have a wander or maybe have a dinner or lunch out possibly.

MumChp · 24/01/2025 16:18

Enjoy!

thehorsesareallidiots · 24/01/2025 16:18

Why wouldn't it be OK? Who could possibly have an issue with it if you and your DH are happy to do it?

Do it and enjoy it. I would.

iamnotalemon · 24/01/2025 16:21

5 showers? You must be like a prune 🤣

Glad you enjoyed your little break though.

Sounds fab!

Is it £60 for the hotel room, breakfast and dinner? That's a great deal!
