The HA need to do planned repair/upgrade work. The appt slots are 830-1230 or 130-530.
I asked them to book mine around school runs but twice they’ve turned up when I’m out ? Now saying that if they are ‘refused entry’ a third time it will lead to further action???

Surely they have to be fair about this and come at a time that works for everyone

Do you not have any school parent friends who could pick your kids up and drop them to school for one morning?
Time slots are what they are. It’s normal for almost anything you book, even if you owned your home.

If one of her children needs one-to-one support, it might not be reasonable to ask another parent to take them to school.

Could you not keep your kids at home for a morning ?

Riddle me this SH haters
Last night my niece and i were discussing a falls pendant and a key safe with my elderly DM
As i was just getting off the sleep last night i had a wait a minute moment.
We are not allowed to have anything on our door or the walls of the communal hallway outside our flat
So what if someone who is a falls risk needs a key safe installed outside their door??!!!!

Key safes are non flammable. If you need a key safe you’d be able to have one installed by the HA. You really do look for issues everywhere don’t you. Are you like this in all areas of your life? It must be very tiresome.

On ITV News just before Christmas a Peabody tenant who had decanted from her home so work could be done wondered why it was taking so long. So she set up a camera ......and it caught the contractor going through her knicker drawer.

So tech can safeguard everyone but HAs seem reluctant to let tenants use it (see also ring doorbells) One has to wonder why.

Exhibit A.

CCTV used to scare off burglars ordered down housing association

Steven Cavener and wife Melanie have had cameras because there have been repeated attempts by thieves to break into Mr Cavener's work van in, South Shields, South Tyneside.

Worried the footage will show their contractors not turning up is nearer to the truth

Blushingm · 26/01/2025 18:55

@Theunamedcat they're not making it at inappropriate times. They've given her a day and a slot. Twice. It's reasonable for her to try and be available. Everyone else manages.....plumbers, gas engineers etc can't give times as they don't know how long each individual job will take.

He has GDD and ADHD so I think that’s SEN not sure if it’s classed as disability

I'm not sure if someone has answered this already, but if your DC has significant ADHD and GDD (and it sounds like he does if he needs 1:1 and can't use breakfast club) then he does have a disability and they need to make reasonable adjustments for you.

Ilovesunshine22 · 26/01/2025 20:13

Book them in half term

Book them in half term

Trouble is if this is cyclical maintenance AND they treat all the parents of young kids the same , loads of parents will be making the same request

Well that will be the Housing Association's own fault for not sorting out a visit in school hours. Plenty of people that need to get off to work would love to have the first slot of the day. It is just laziness of the housing associstion in scheduling the jobs - they can't be bothered.

Blushingm · 30/01/2025 10:44

@Winter2020 the majority of HA tenants have kids etc and do school run. Its unrealistic to expect the majority of maintenance to be done avoiding school run 🙄

Comefromaway · 30/01/2025 10:53

From experience that is not the case. A lot of HA tenants are elderly for example.

You cannot just take your child our of school for a housing appointment any reasonable company will accept that

HAunreasonable · 30/01/2025 13:12

They finally got back to me and have booked it for the half term (both appointments as it required 2)
Going forward they have agreed to give me times that avoid my school run so a good outcome. I think because I managed to speak to someone higher up who was more understanding due to making a complaint it was easier to get sorted out.
