This is a little embarrassing, but please hear me out

The house that backs onto mine was recently sold to an older couple. You can see their garden clearly from the back bedroom which is my ds's (they are 4 and 7) bedroom.

They have this week installed a hot-tub in the garden. Today my youngest son comes running to me shouting that the lady has her b00bies out.

They are both sat naked in the hot-tub and you can clearly see everything Blush It isn't a pretty sight and something I don't want my son's to have to see every time they look outside. Wibu to put a note through the letterbox asking them to cover up whilst they are outside or in the hot-tub? I'm too embarrassed to go round and talk to them. Blush

Why would someone who sits naked in their hot tub, surrounded by houses be embarrassed that neighbours can see her breasts?

I don't think she would be or should be tbh but the op is embarrassed

If he's 3 presumably he's been in a changing room with you when swimming? Naked ladies a plenty there

Older women are less inhibited in many ways and just strip off whilst younger women do the towel dance

I never see that at my local swimming centre. Not in all the 40+ years I’ve lived in our town.

Weyohweyoh · 24/01/2025 14:55

Next time, open the kids window and get them to hang out and shout “MUUUUM I CAN SEE THAT LADIES BOOBIES!!!!” as loud as they can. Hopefully they’ll take the hint 🤣

I'm surprised. It happens all the time at our local pool
Remember it well from being a Year 10 swimming. We'd all be wrapped in towels trying to dress and fighting over the 2 booths and there'd be at least one older lady stripping her cossie off and getting under the shower

You said "Just to save you further embarrassment".

Yes . ... I said a jokey note

Throughthebluebells · 24/01/2025 20:23

I have a (very fit but not particularly young) neighbour who regularly sunbathes in the nude and walks in and out of her house without any covering at all. It is a terrace of houses that can all see into each others gardens. It doesn't bother me but a few male visitors including a gardener I hired have been a bit shocked by it. It seems to make some men very uncomfortable, much more so than the other women that come here.

Dollshousedolly · 24/01/2025 20:36

I’m sure this woman won’t care. I’m wondering what hang ups you are giving your children that a 4 yo would come running to say that someone had their boobies out.

Put a blind or sheer curtain on the window so your children aren’t staring into next door’s garden,

Not unreasonable to write a note about it. I agree, too awkward to have a direct chat about it!

If that doesn't work I would contact the local authority council, as it might be classed (somehow?) as anti-social behaviour or something - it's relevant that your children shouldn't be exposed to naked adults!

Please write to the council, it would give them such a laugh.
Of course this is absolutely a dumb idea. People can be naked in their own home ffs😂

SD1978 · 24/01/2025 20:42

You can try the note through the door, but I'd suggest putting something up on the window so they can't see

That will be because they're worried about accusations

Tricky.
If the neighbours, including young children, can clearly see them from their window, and have informed them it upsets them, and they continue,
that could be seen as they are intentionally causing neighbours distress.

Not under English law.

LlynTegid · 25/01/2025 11:08

I saw a customer in the local hot tub sales place just before Christmas, which I had never seen before. I wonder if it was them!!

okydokethen · 25/01/2025 13:47

If you can, force yourself do it in person, otherwise every good morning/taking in a package or other need for communication will be awkward.

Just say, of hi whilst your here thought I'd better let you know that my back window is my kids bedroom and it looks out onto your hot tub..pause for them to get the message and breathe.

123ZYX · 25/01/2025 14:07

Which way does the garden face? If putting up a screen in your garden to block the view would block the sun for them, they might decide that they prefer to wear clothes and keep the sun
