Bit of a boring one I guess. I'm gonna get the snacks in for me and dd as the coverage starts at 3.30/4pm (UK obs)

I love to watch stuff like this, makes me feel connected to the world 😅🙈

Plus I wanna see if anyone slips up and let's their face show their real thoughts

Plus I'll be making comparisons between barron and Gary barlow's giant son

Trump born June 1946. Clinton born August 1946.

The footprints of a generation and how many died so young: Joe Biden was born 1 week before Jimi Hendrix

Anyone else think that the former US President’s have all aged quite a bit ? Even Obama looks a lot older..
Clinton and Bush too.

Well, they are all older….

MonickerMonica · 21/01/2025 12:34

Former presidents aren't on our screens often so we don't see a very slow difference in their looks. I hardly recognised Bush. Yes it's surprising to see them very much older but dare I say it the men mostly grow old gracefully while the wives fight it and go for face lifts etc etc.

Yep. It beggars belief that in such a vast and diverse country the only people they can drum up to lead it are old men.

I think Hillary looks pretty good. No doubt she's had some work but she doesn't look weird. And I was watching something the other day where she was doing a speech and she's still sharp and quite funny.

JD Vance is only forty.

They'll put a corpse in the Whitehouse before they'll put a woman in.

Agree with this totally, hopelessly and despairingly.

Women are beginning to need to set up their own police force because we cannot trust men to support us.

I have some paint needing watching, just to make sure it dries.

I'm watching - He said that they are going to use their oil and gas and remove electric car policies so they can buy the cars they want.

What is the point of the UK taking any climate change steps when America is doing things like this?

You know what? We do it anyway. We move forward with EV. Because the less reliance we have on this backwards country, the better. Leave them to it now. And if anyone hasn't read the story last week of a UK scientist's 10 years of clean energy research being burned down in a targeted arson attack in Liverpool, that scientist was literally about to bring energy generated by recyclable aluminium to market in March. It would have reduced fuel costs by over 2/3. But a fossil fuel retainer has burned the labs and data and he has to start all over again. There's a Crowdfunder for Luke Evans of Scintilla CME.

MonickerMonica · 21/01/2025 18:52

He's been prez for 24 hours. Has he saved the world yet?
I hope wifey has managed to remove that hat. It looked super glued on.

Whammyyammy · 21/01/2025 18:53

He made some good points, some bad pints and some howlers.
One positive i took is he didn't want our PM there.....

Highlights
All illegal entry halted
All existing illegals who are criminals deported
End green new deal
End electric car mandate
Drill baby drill while China continues to pollute
Rid of DEI
Only 2 sexes man and woman
End wokeness in schools
Bible only in schools
Can't remember the rest but it was worth watching to see Biden and Kamala squirming inches away

At least they were there. Trump didn’t have the guts or courtesy to be there 4 years ago.
And anyone with a brain would squirm at most of that.

well, British PMs never go - but why on earth would it have been a positive it was usual and Starmer wasn’t invited? Weird.

Other leaders were invited which isn't in line with the norm, usually it's domestic politicians only. Starmer wasn't invited. I'm sure he dehydrated from the tears he shed.

Unless he was, but opted not to go?

Neither of whom are PM.
Anyone could travel to Washington.

Gonna prove difficult for you to avoid it for a while, given he’s POTUS.

I know! I just realized this and thought if there was still time I'd edit my comment to say-

I don't want to see his ugly face any more than necessary.

Have already shifted my morning routine to watching old movies or listening to music instead of the first 10 minutes of the Today Show where his antics will be featured prominently.

I normally judge people who don't keep up with the big headlines, for the next 3-1/2 years I'm actively avoiding the news.

Sad part is I have the luck to be a white american who can ignore this crap more or less, many others are truly and rightly terrified. 😨

They were at the inauguration. As was Liz Truss and Priti Patel. So some British were invited. I think Prince Edward was there too.
