What is the worst holiday you have had?

I will start. In 2023 i went to the haven caravan park in Berwick. I stupidly forgot to pack a shower mat and i slipped while getting out of the shower. Anyway i had to phone an ambulance as i could not put any weight on my right leg. At the hospital the doctor asked me to stand up. I could put a bit of weight on my leg but i fell again when i tried to walk. My knee just gave way. I still shudder when i think about this holiday.

Worse one. Bulgaria, just after the fall of communism. But still very much state run. Very few people spoke England, dire warnings about changing cash anywhere other than the government office. It was the end of September, we were there for 3 weeks. Week one it rained. So not many places were open during the day as they were mainly breach bars. Evenings were ok we found a nice enough place to eat near the hotel
Week two the weather was ok. But the nice restaurant had closed for the season. Found a couple of other places the beef was clearly horse and the rest of the "international" menu ( which seemed to be very similar in every place) was quite strange...so I ate ham, egg and chips for 13 nights on the trot. A lot of other places had also closed for the season.
Week three almost everywhere is closed. Nothing to do but sit on the beach.

The other problem is it's stupidly cheap booze. 20p a litre. One guy was carried up to bed by the waiters every night. Middle of week 2 we come back.to the hotel about 4 pm and they are breaking into his room as he'd died.
plus point. We were 24 and on our honeymoon but met a lovely couple in their 80s who made everything so much fun...even when we went for walk and found half a dead cow! If it wasn't for them I think we'd have divorced on our return!

@Jabberwok I went in 1992 - food was dire as was hotel -I survived on what they call Czech toast ( cheese on toast with paprika on it ) plus chips with grated cheese on them - I am quite an adventurous eater but genuinely it was all awful - hopefully these days it’s improved somewhat. Beaches were nice though

Lefkada with my now ex dh in 2000 ish.

We hadn’t been dating long and we pooled our spending money, splitting it half and half between us for safe keeping, which I thought we’d use for meals out, activities etc. The second day we were there he went out very early and got himself a very fancy watch with his half of the spending money (!) leaving us with just my half for everything else. I should have dumped him after that to be honest, so selfish.

I tried to make the best of the rest of the holiday but he was just so moody and deleted any photos of us together that I took as he didn’t like the way he looked in any of the photos (he was incredibly vain, not secretly married or anything, just vain) and then the icing on the cake was he didn’t like any of the food so he sat there every night with a beer while I ate and then he made plain pasta and cheese back at the apartment.

Never been so home sick.

I can’t believe you went on and married him !!!
