Dh needs wheels changing. He’s lost the wheel nut so that’s now got to be sorted too when they come out tonight to change them. Aibu to expect him to take car seat out to do this? Won’t it harm the car seat?

AlphabetBird · 17/01/2025 21:33

How would it harm the seat?

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 17/01/2025 21:34

In what way will changing the car wheels harm the car seat?? I don't see any issue.

Jojobees · 17/01/2025 21:34

Will what harm the car seat? New tyres? No. Car seat can stay put.

QueSyrahSyrah · 17/01/2025 21:34

How on earth would changing a wheel harm the car seat?

PiastriThePastry · 17/01/2025 21:34

What? 😂 don’t be silly.

vodkaredbullgirl · 17/01/2025 21:35

Eh why would it harm the car seat?

MumonabikeE5 · 17/01/2025 21:35

You could probably leave the kid in he seat and it would be ok
why take the seat out for a wheel change?

CookieCrumbles23 · 17/01/2025 21:37

Yes remove the car seat and also the windscreen wipers!

Ttrwq · 17/01/2025 21:37

It’s the nut bolt thing that’s been lost so that’s got to be replaced first

I have had an awful personal experience with a car incident so very anxious about car seats

OP posts:
sanityisamyth · 17/01/2025 21:38

This is one of the most ridiculous things I think I've read on here.

TomatoSandwiches · 17/01/2025 21:38

What?

CheshireCats · 17/01/2025 21:39

What?? This does not even make sense.

PickledElectricity · 17/01/2025 21:39

It's unlikely but if it's making you that anxious then ask him to remove it before taking it in for you.

myplace · 17/01/2025 21:41

So he needs a wheel changing but has lost the lockable wheel nut gadget.

You think they’ll damage the car seat when they sort it out?

I wouldn’t expect them to be inside the car. So the seat should be fine.

What are you expecting to damage the seat? Specifically?

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 17/01/2025 21:42

WTF. I don't want to be rude to a stranger on the Internet who doesn't deserve it but this is one of the most bat shit posts I've ever read on here and having used this site for a number of years that's saying something!

NiftyBiscuit · 17/01/2025 21:42

OP I realise you're anxious, but honestly indulging this anxiety is not going to help you long term. Try to recognise the illogic of it.

If the car seat was connected to the wheel/wheel nut in any way, I'd expect it to spend the whole journey spinning around.
No one would appreciate that.

Londonrach1 · 17/01/2025 21:43

How they connected....why would you need to remove the seat to change the tyre ..

user12343333333334 · 17/01/2025 21:43

I get you are super anxious I really do.
But please rest assured that the car seat is fine to stay put.
What do you think will happen?

Surprisedcupcake · 17/01/2025 21:46

👹

Bigfellabamboo · 17/01/2025 21:47

Are you okay Hun?

LouH1981 · 17/01/2025 21:47

No, please don’t worry. The car seat will be fine xx

whycantibeselfishforonce · 17/01/2025 21:47

If he can't find the wheel nut to get the wheel off then that is why a mechanic is coming to sort it - I think that's what you mean?

They won't have to go inside the car at all - fixing the wheel will not affect the internal aspects of the car at all. Don't worry about the car seat. They won't touch it.

How do you think that changing a wheel could possibly affect the car seat?

Shallana · 17/01/2025 21:51

What has the locking wheel nut got to do with it at all? 🤔 they will just attend with a replacement wheel nut?

They prop the car up using the jack, undo the wheel nuts, take the wheels off and put new wheels on. I've done it myself a few times. There's no possibility of any damage to the car seat at all.
