Dh needs wheels changing. He’s lost the wheel nut so that’s now got to be sorted too when they come out tonight to change them. Aibu to expect him to take car seat out to do this? Won’t it harm the car seat?

I'm going to assume you're not explaining the situation clearly. Has your DH dropped the wheel locking nut and it's gone somewhere under the car seat where it's inaccessible? Or has it gone under the base of a child's car seat? I think if people understood better what the situation is then you may get some more polite responses.

The only time you need to remove the car seats is when it goes in for a MOT as they can't test the seatbelts.

This will be fine.

You don't actually need to remove them for the MOT. They will just skip the seat belt test if you leave them in.

This. Just an advisory to cover their arse.

might be worth removing the child seat in case the missing nut is trapped underneath it?

How likely is it that a nut would come off a wheel outside the car, and make its way into the way?!

It’s the locking nut adaptor not an actual nut off the wheel. In fairness these things do get lost all over interiors.
