I've got the lurgy (unspecified variety, temp, throat, cough, aches etc). Wrestled with it a week but ended up seeing GP yesterday as I now have a chest infection (wonderful 🙄). Get your tiny violins out, people. 🎻

GP told me that 20% of the population is ill at the moment. TWENTY!!!!!!??????? That's millions of us. I'm staggered.

AIBU to ask : Are you one of the 20% ?

It's been 48 hours since I voted that I'm NOT ill.... but now I have a streaming cold and son has a vomit bug ffs 🤦🏻‍♀️

Not with the cold, but been up all night visiting the loo and fighting a deep urge to vom everywhere, so think I am fighting off the noro? It’s my birthday today too.

Oh dear, poor you! I haven't had anything respiratory, but have been down with a stomach bug since a week on Saturday. We were abroad on holiday and on Sunday, I had to drive for 3 hours to the airport - only me on the contract.

I took to bed from Monday to Thursday, I'm still wiped, but a lot better today.

I'd managed to avoid it despite sharing a bed with DH who's been coughing for weeks. However, yesterday woke up and my throat was hurting by the evening my neck was swollen, I now have a headache and sweating/chills, aching all over! Ringing in sick from work, not even going to attempt to work from home as I barely slept 🙃

Oh dear, it's probably worse when you think you've managed to avoid it!

I seem to have come down with something overnight ☹️

Loads, but I still keep getting bad stomach ache. At least I'm functional now and will finish the antibiotics on Wednesday night.

I hope the rest of you are OK longer belurgied.

I read this thread at 7am this morning when I wasn't.

By 7pm this evening I most definitely was anx have been in bed since 7.50pm with the heating on, an oodie and fleecy bed linen and I'm still freezing.

I've got something too. Started as nothing more than a sore throat for four days, then totally lost my voice for a week. Over the weekend fever, throwing up due to coughing so much, although at least my voice is mostly back. Now it seems to be basically ok during the day (except for some coughing) but it comes back to hit me hard in the evenings and overnight so that I wake up at 5am every morning thinking I might die.

Add to that itchy ears and itchy skin all down my neck. It's been about 2 weeks so far.

@Mukey, I wonder if our jobs make us more immune somehow?! I am a teacher, have two small kids of my own, and am fine! DD (nearly 4) has been poorly the last few days and as a result has been in very close contact with me (bed sharing!) but I'm still fine, touch wood!

Touch wood, no. Despite my husband having full-on flu all over Christmas, I've somehow managed to swerve it.
Surely, though, if 20% of the population is ill, that means 80% of the population is not? 🤔

I'm just over it, taken a month.
My daughter is heading for her third lot of antibiotics as she cannot clear the recurring tonsillitis from it

No, luckily we’re all well at the moment! DS(15) seemed to catch cold after cold between September and Christmas and he said most of his school were ill just before Christmas.

Well I'm still ill. Second lot of antibiotics now plus an inhaler.

Still feeling ropey but better than before. What a way to start the year.

My other half is now in hospital with a bad chest infection.... he only just came out of hospital about 9 days ago for something completely different!

My viral bronchitis does seem like it's turning a corner, touchwood no more horrendous coughing fits where I felt like I couldn't breathe or was going to wet myself, which is a big improvement.

Yes!! Bloody awful virus and definitely comparable to Covid in terms of how bad I feel. Is it an unnanounced pandemic??

It's not unannounced. It's a quadridemic of flu, covid, noro, and rsv.

Friend is heading into his third week of flu. He had the jab, so would have presumably been in hospital or dead without that.

I’m still in that sitting bolt upright, engaging my core before I cough stage.

Though it’s as much about popping a muscle or a disc as wetting myself 🤣

Yep, feeling bloody dreadful..started out last week with headache and sore throat and yesterday was full body shakes, aching muscles, hot/ cold..sneezing, coughing..

I've been avoiding crowded places and wearing a mask if I have to go out. I haven't been sick this winter yet. I was just getting sick every few months and realised it wasn't going to stop if I kept acting like things were normal

Feeling pretty ropey & frustrated this evening!
