Go to Lidl or aldi and you’ll get enough food no problem, it wouldn’t even cross my mind that this wouldn’t be enough tbh

Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues

Do you need it to cover breakfast & lunch?

Dinner ideas

Tomato pasta (use pasta) chopped tomatoes/herbs or a jar + smoked sausage

Baked pot & beans - add cheese if you have it/budget allows

Veg Egg fried rice (use rice & eggs) mixed veg from freezer

Veg soup with bread

Just seen your post saying no wheat. Stirfry could be another option

backawayfatty1 · 10/01/2025 20:54

Add a side of broccoli to the tomato pasta to get some veg

BlondeFool · 10/01/2025 20:55

You need yellow stickers.

Tesco's do a really nice tinned Minestrone soup for 64p. I think your DD will have to cancel her trip as that's a big chunk of your essential food budget. When you are paid on Wednesday stock up on basics.

Delphiniumandlupins · 10/01/2025 20:56

Join the Olio app. If there is anyone active in your area you will be able to get plenty bread for free, and hopefully other stuff. Any veg can make soup. Bread will give you toast - with beans or cheese or scrambled eggs. Toasted sandwiches, pizza bases (from baguettes or wraps). Baked potatoes are filling - again with cheese or beans. Too Good to Go bags are another option - find out which are good ones in your area before signing up. Do you have a community shop/food pantry locally - ours offer a bag of basic items for about £1.50

Newuser75 · 10/01/2025 20:56

Lentils, make soup or Dahl
Potatoes, jacket potatoes or mash
Any old veg, make some soup
Eggs, omelette , frittata
Beans
Flour, yeast, makes some bread
Pasta with whatever topping you have.

Dd is going out with friends and needs bus and entrance fee

Is your daughter going out that important? Am I missing something here? Sorry

Sleepysleepycoffeecoffee · 10/01/2025 20:57

Get a pasta sauce and some cheap veg (peppers, onions, carrots). Use some veg to make egg fried rice with eggs you have. That’s two nights’ dinners. Tin of coconut milk, tin of lentils, cheap curry powder, sweet potato and left over veg from above to make a curry. That’ll last a couple of nights with a bit of rice and some naan. That’s well within £22 budget and you can get some rolls, fillings and fruit for a packed lunch

backawayfatty1 · 10/01/2025 20:57

Breakfast - porridge, cereal, , toast

Lunch - i'd prob stick with sandwiches/toasties or soup & bread

nzeire · 10/01/2025 21:01

I’d prioritise my daughter too :)

you can do it!

pasta, pesto, peas was a favourite when I was totally skint!

fried rice

bag of apples, loaf of bread and peanut butter

instant noodles with frozen veges

oats for breakfast

yoh have eggs, omelettes are great

SexAndCakes · 10/01/2025 21:02

A cheap way to eat some greens is to buy big bags of frozen peas and spinach. If you get the supermarket value brand kind they are pretty cheap, go a long way and are as good as the fresh kind in terms of nutrition.

lostinthememory · 10/01/2025 21:03

£22 to get some mince, fruit and tinned tomatoes is fine

depending on people to feed, chip shop regular chips are 3:50 can be shared ad eg eggs, beans ect can make a meal each night

plan 2 basic but survival meals of pasta, rice, eggs etc ( i say this because in tescos and asda they are cheap, even packet microwave rice is around 60/70p depending on flavour and whos brand it is.

plan 3 use the reduced sections at the local supermarkets and try to make a dinner, but not sure how much will last till wednesday based on price of the reduced.

Delphiniumandlupins · 10/01/2025 21:04

You can still access some food banks even if you work, many in my area don't even need referrals. Gluten-free makes stuff much more expensive but you may get gf bread on Olio. Get cheapest pasta for those who can eat gluten.

i guess go for supermarkets own brands for your various items including bread etc and that should help balance the costs

StMarie4me · 10/01/2025 21:08

Co op also do amazing gluten free pasta at £1.15.
