To think Purdy & Figg isn’t all it’s cracked up to be?

I have been tempted but haven’t ordered, mostly because it’s a subscription and I don’t want tied in if I don’t like it plus the cost is high for what seems to be small bottles of oil.
Is it any better than other cleaning products? Does the promised spa smell last or is it all a big marketing campaign that I have fallen for?

YABU - it’s amazing and I love it
YANBU - it’s a con, stick to the Zoflora

I do like it but the regular price after the trial period is too much. I think I was charged about £50 for my second delivery of just 6 refill bottles and an ooh de loo, which I really recommend to scent your bathroom but you can get it on Amazon, so I cancelled.

I'd be interested in alternatives.

MalbecMakesMeHappy · 10/01/2025 21:54

I'm put off by their aggressive social media campaigns. Find them sexist tbh. Woe betide a man might actually appear in any of their ads.

bizzey · 10/01/2025 21:56

Thanks to this thread I have remembered to skip my order delivered!

Can't find anywhere to cancel my subscription..I just keep having to remember to edit and skip for 3 months .

Is it obvious how to cancel ?

NormasArse · 10/01/2025 21:57

They sent three bottles of oil, and I only like the smell of one. Shame really because it’s a good idea.

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 10/01/2025 21:58

they used to do the most amazing little bottles of hand sanitizer which smelled incredible. They've stopped doing those which is really disappointing. I've not tried their cleaning products but would be worried that they will suddenly discontinue those as well

CuddlyDodoToy · 10/01/2025 22:00

It smells nice and cleans well enough, but it's no better than other products that are much cheaper.

It's not as good as Method.

justasking111 · 10/01/2025 22:02

Husband asked me what it was yesterday he's been inundated this week. And no he doesn't research cleaning materials 😁

Pebbles16 · 10/01/2025 22:14

You've just reminded me to cancel my subscription. There is a nice smell for about 30 seconds but it really isn't a cleaning product.

@bizzey Just go to the "more" option

I was tempted by the slick advertising campaign. But I decided it was a con and didn't bother ordering.

Hocuspocus99 · 10/01/2025 22:27

it has a lovely aroma , but as a cleaner . It doesn’t actually clean and the smell evaporates within minutes . I would say if you clean every day and your house is spotless then yes it’s the product for you . If you want a nice smelling kitchen cleaner, I would use the Method anti bacterial spray wild Rhubarb, and for the bathroom Aldi multi surface cleaner with bleach. It does have quite a strong bleach smell , but it does actually clean. I have also started to use the Avesi spanish floor cleaner. Very economical as only have to use very little and its does have quite a powerful long lasting smell .

Method is pants. Ecover actually cleans.

Luddite26 · 10/01/2025 22:40

I have moved on from method to Ineos rhubarb and pomegranate smells wonderful!
I was tempted with a p&f offer after buying of WOB but smelt some seasonal winter scents at my daughter's and wasn't keen.
The Ineos range is really good.

Luddite26 · 10/01/2025 22:44

I used Ecover floor cleaner on a client's travertine floor once and it left an awful smell I got called in by the husband a few days later and an inquisition into what I had used! He owned a big chain of shops so accepted that I was trying with the Recovery to nourish the floor ! Stank of linseed oil!

AndThereSheGoes · 10/01/2025 22:51

I got suckered in after a free bottle of Christmas scent plus half or ice offer.

So disappointed as I thought they smelt vile. The Christmas one smelt the same as one of the other ones. Not like the fresh clean scent I imagined.
Didn't bother trying them and sent them back. Still waiting for the refund ....

Hedgerowdragon · 10/01/2025 22:56

If you have a refill shop near you, Miniml
products are great. You can buy in bottles.
Or Iron and Velvet is like Neat. Good old Astonish vegan and UK made.

bizzey · 11/01/2025 01:22

@Pebbles16 ...thank you !
Done !

Celticgold · 11/01/2025 01:53

I did a trial offer. Smells nice but in all honesty the smell didn’t last that long. I like the Method custard one better & the Dettol floral. Cleans ok but it’s oil based so may not be suitable for every surface. It was nice for my wood furniture but a lot more expensive at the usual price than the other cleaners I like.

Chuchoter · 11/01/2025 09:53

Smells ok but wasn't very effective at cleaning.

You'd be better off wiping over everything with a damp cloth and squirting your favourite perfume in the air!

jeaux90 · 11/01/2025 09:55

Wilton is my go to, cheaper and I prefer the smell (I love their fabric softener too)
