To think Purdy & Figg isn’t all it’s cracked up to be?

I have been tempted but haven’t ordered, mostly because it’s a subscription and I don’t want tied in if I don’t like it plus the cost is high for what seems to be small bottles of oil.
Is it any better than other cleaning products? Does the promised spa smell last or is it all a big marketing campaign that I have fallen for?

YABU - it’s amazing and I love it
YANBU - it’s a con, stick to the Zoflora

I love how on the adverts they are wiping clean surfaces with it. The amount of dust, finger marks, food smears etc that I clean on a daily basis would really put it through it's paces. My hob always needs hot soapy water and a good scrub.

Isitasquid · 10/01/2025 18:51

I loved the smell but it was a dreadful cleaner. They were nice when I cancelled though.

SherbetSweeties · 10/01/2025 18:57

Look up Nancy birtwhistle. Her homemade cleaning products are awesome.

LillyLeaf · 10/01/2025 18:59

I've been tempted and bombarded with ads so I'm glad I've seen this thread. I think I'll stick with what cleaners I have and continue with my oil burners for scent which lasts ages.

Jzp · 10/01/2025 19:00

I’m not impressed. Smells very nice but that doesn’t last longer than a few minutes. As others have said it smears badly especially on glass. It’s very expensive for a cleaner that’s no better than supermarket ones. Wouldn’t recommend

Portakalkedi · 10/01/2025 19:07

I also make my own, bit of isopropyl alcohol or vinegar, drop of washing up liquid, water, in glass spray bottles, more in a squirty bottle for mopping. I don't bother adding oils.

savanahnana · 10/01/2025 19:37

I got sucked into the adverts few months ago. Whilst the scents were nice enough, I don’t think they were great at getting anything clean and it was too smeary on mirrors and glass. I was hoping the smell would linger but even after cleaning everywhere with it the scent didn’t last any longer than a few minutes. The cloths are good though and I use the bottle still but decant other cleaning liquids into it now. It’s far too expensive in my opinion for what it is, even with the deals they send.

cherish123 · 10/01/2025 19:41

It's not great. Having said that I wouldn't use Zoflora either. It's full of rubbish and toxic for pets. I did not think people used Zoflora nowadays.

Purdy and Figg smells nice but you are, essentially, cleaning with fragranced water. It smears and doesn't get rid of stains. It's awful on glass. I'd stick to Method.

crackfoxy · 10/01/2025 19:49

Bathroom cleaner is brilliant but only lasted me 2 weeks for 3 loos and 2 bathrooms. Usually 1 bottle of bathroom cleaner lasts a month. Smells great as well. All purpose cleaner does smell good. Love the cleaning cloths. Will prob get one more delivery then cancel the subscription

Katemax82 · 10/01/2025 19:52

I much prefer a smol subscription

DillyDallyingAllDay · 10/01/2025 20:00

100% agree. I thought it was just me. Purdy and Figf doesn't clean very well at all and think most other cleaners are better. I think I've been suckered into trying most of these subscription cleaning things. I found smol cleaned well, method is great but I've found it impossible to buy refills recently. I think I read neat? From the supermarket which was average.

Screamingabdabz · 10/01/2025 20:01

I’ve never heard of it but what a clever twee name to lure in the aspirational eco-minded millennials… and just how did I know it would have Easop type brown bottles? What a cliche.

Just buy the hipster-cred bottles and decant some regular good old Cillit Bang into it… ‘Cos let’s face it, no one is really buying this for the environment. It’s all about having the right brand signifiers to go with your Farrow and Ball, White Company and Toast Homeware.

christmascracker123 · 10/01/2025 20:01

I have made my own today with some essential oils and the house smells gorgeous. Dish soap, essential oil and white wine vinegar. I had the John Lewis advent calendar and had two bottles of Neom essential oils. DH noticed the smell when he came in before.

booisbooming · 10/01/2025 20:34

Those horrible instagram ads about cleaning to impress your MIL?!? Barf.

Fact 1: You can buy those exact amber glass bottles on Amazon

Fact 2: you can make knock off Aesop with Clary Sage, Geranium and Cedarwood essential oils. Obviously there are many others but that’s a good starter combo for the modern spa smell.

NoProbLlamaa · 10/01/2025 20:56

Ugh, the reusable bottle is cheap, the smells aren’t that nice and they don’t last.

Worst of all though they clean so terribly. Literally everything is left smeary, I can’t understand these people who rave about it.

The cloths are nice though

Whatonearth07957 · 10/01/2025 20:59

Love it. Can't get enough of it!

OvaHere · 10/01/2025 21:14

I don't care whether it's good or not, I would never buy it based on the awful adverts.

Nosy Neighbour
Judgemental MIL
Being grateful your husband has bought you a shitty cleaning kit as a present.

bradypuss · 10/01/2025 21:17

I love it but can't justify the cost
It cleans everything in my kitchen better than any other product iv used.
Great on glass and door handles
I'm.not sure the smell lasts as long as they suggest

Kitchenspade · 10/01/2025 21:19

I prefer minmal cleaner or ineos

user8762456 · 10/01/2025 21:25

I really like it - particularly the vetiver scent, but I agree the smell doesn’t last at all which is such a shame. You spray it and it’s there for an instant and then gone. I like the eco side of it though.

i am having minor heart palpitations reading that someone has wasted a bottle of neom oil making spray cleaner though! I eke mine out in the diffuser for months because it’s so lovely.

BoomBoomZoomies · 10/01/2025 21:36

Smell gave me a headache. And it doesn't work on glass, just smears. But you can try it and cancel the subscription

Hoppingabout · 10/01/2025 21:40

I get wanting your cleaning spray to smell a bit nicer than the bog standard cleaning spray but the P&f smells aren't dissimilar to the M&S cleaning sprays which cost a fraction of the price and you get a much larger bottle.

Tiredmum2kids1dog · 10/01/2025 21:43

lechatnoir · 10/01/2025 18:08

Thanks, you've just reminded me to cancel my subscription after trying on an offer. Nice bottle and cloth, but don't particularly like the scents and they don't last.

Me too thanks for the heads up

Mmmkaay · 10/01/2025 21:48

Fourfurrymonsters · 10/01/2025 18:37

I make my own general cleaner, if you’re interested in minimising waste. 1 part rubbing alcohol/99% isopropyl alcohol, 3 parts water, wee squeeze of washing up liquid and add essential or fragrance oils to fragrance, all decanted into very naice amber glass bottles. I like lemongrass and ginger, currently using mint and nectarine. It’s fabulous…antibacterial, antiseptic and suitable for all surfaces (I have quartz worktops so needed something non-acidic). And costs under a quid a bottle.

Can you give more details please? Or a recipe?
