Which way do you stand in the shower?!

So, I’ve spent my whole life facing ‘forwards’ as in, back to the mixer. And for some unknown reason today I flip it and stand facing the shower/ mixer and woah, a new world? Why did nobody tell me it’s about 2782929 times easier to wash my hair this way around 😂

got me thinking- what’s the normal way?!

Showers with a pulse setting are particularly useful 😉.

Without being rude, Is rotating to do with the size of the person? Or is it down to how powerful the water stream is?
I don’t understand why you wouldn’t be able to wash all over without rotating?

No! I am a tiny person (I assume you weren't meaning small people were more likely to rotate as the water might miss them due to them being so small) I am 5ft 2 and about a size 6, basically the same size as a 12 year old (which is helpful for cheap clothes). Even if I stand directly under the shower with it pointing straight down it still seems to run more down one side than another, however powerful, and usually the shower head is slightly angled, much better to spin for a more even spread. I have tested this in a variety of showers over many years, for science.

(I do think water running via hair impacts but not willing to shave my head to check)

@evtheria You need to invest in a car wash!

Ah, the dream...

tediber · 10/01/2025 17:36

Both ways. I only face away from the water to do my hair. I don't agree it's easier to do hair facing the water the shampoo wld go all
over my face.

I've got a rainfall shower in my en-suite but I don't stand directly underneath it very often 😂 sounds like I'm doing that wrong. I still mainly keep my face out and body under under.

I stand with my back the the shower, and turn round to wash/rinse my front. I don't wash my hair in the shower (I stand outside the bath and do it over the side).

Cantbesure · 10/01/2025 22:17

People face away from the shower?! 🤯

maddening · 10/01/2025 22:22

My shower head comes from the ceiling im tw center (it is a double width shower) so I don't think it makes a difference which way I stand.

Movingpieces · 10/01/2025 22:53

I usually stand back to showerhead unless washing face. Someone told me once the hot water can cause wrinkles/aging to the delicate skin on the decolletage area. No idea if true or not but can't seem to stop it! Also take off shower head to rinse under feet. Something else can't seem to stop!

TwattyMcFuckFace · 10/01/2025 22:57

I always face away as I hate the water in my face.
