Which way do you stand in the shower?!

So, I’ve spent my whole life facing ‘forwards’ as in, back to the mixer. And for some unknown reason today I flip it and stand facing the shower/ mixer and woah, a new world? Why did nobody tell me it’s about 2782929 times easier to wash my hair this way around 😂

got me thinking- what’s the normal way?!

I move round to get different bits of me wet/rinsed.

This. If you stand still only one side will get washed. Odd question.

Haha! Same here I thought the shower standing police were going to be after me!
funny though isn’t it all these things you do by routine every day and some are just because whichever caregiver happened to show /tell you how to do and you just never questioned it… 40 odd years later..!

I grew up before people had showers in their homes so I suppose I just worked it out for myself. In fact, my daughter was grown up before I had a proper shower fitted so she had to work it out herself too.

Hardly an odd question if a tonne of people saying the same thing 😂 loosen up x

You are the most cleverest :)

Haha, I have never even thought about it. I genuinely don't know which way i stand - will check next time

Odd to think there's a 'right' way. I've never even wondered how other people do it.

I always used to rotate a bit so as to not have water in my face constantly, but have recently had a bathroom renovation and switched to a rainfall shower. Wish I'd had one of these ages ago! I feel happiest facing the controls for some reason and I can now stand in that position all the time. Bonus is that the shower has both the fixed head and an adjustable one that can be removed from the bar for directional spraying, so I have the best of both worlds.

Dramatic · 10/01/2025 07:25

I rotate too, I don't know how you can get properly clean if you don't rotate 🙈

paranoiaofpufflings · 10/01/2025 02:35

Radical twist - I have a "rainfall" shower and stand right underneath it!

I don't wash my hair daily so these I hate.

Lovemybunnies · 10/01/2025 07:27

🤣this has given me a good laugh this morning. I can’t even think what I do.

Jellifer · 10/01/2025 07:32

I’m a rotator but when washing my (long) hair I face the taps and bend my head down so my hair falls forward. Never understood how to do it with my head tilted back!

fghbvh · 10/01/2025 07:34

I always hold the shower head - I hate it if we stay in a hotel and it's fixed to the wall.

TubeScreamer · 10/01/2025 07:34

Rainfall shower with huge head. I stand under it with my back to the wall/controls.
I worry that I wouldn’t spot intruders otherwise (even though the door is locked).

Get a shower cap!

Get a shower cap!

This would be my issue! Never found shower cap that works 100%

Of course you can 😂 the water goes all over you either way!

Also pretty sure the cleanliness lies in the washing and lathering technique anyway

Yup. And then move around as needed in all directions.

GetyourheadoutoftheovenIris · 10/01/2025 07:42

I can’t imagine facing the shower, how would you know if a burglar (or in my case dog) has come in?

I stand as still as a statue for 5 minutes contemplating life then I wash (I do not rotate, I am not a kebab) and then that’s it.

Facing the shower feels like it would be like stirring your coffee anticlockwise or clapping with your elbows.

itsgettingweird · 10/01/2025 07:42

Also a rotator.

Discovered after I had my hysterectomy and sat in bath with shower running to wash my hair and so sat facing taps. (I didn't feel balanced enough to stand in bath 👀)

I may have struggled to get in and out but woahhhhhh did it give me new shower habits 😂

Ohsunshine · 10/01/2025 07:45

I thought everyone rotated! I have to rotate otherwise the half that's not facing the shower gets cold!

Fontainebleau007 · 10/01/2025 07:47

I face the shower but when washing my hair I face away from it.

I just don’t understand this 😂 maybe people are standing further away than me haha wow this is eye opening

I stand side on to the shower head but facing it so the water hits my front. The water feels too hot if it hits my back directly so I only do that when I turn and back up to rinse my hair.
