Everything is so expensive! Or the brands I recognise anyway.

Please any recommendations for a good all rounder hoover for a decent price.

Thankyou

Check your local Facebook marketplace, I bought an older secondhand hetty in perfect condition for £50 after spending £££ on a shark and hating it. The newer Henry and Hetty hoovers aren’t as powerful these days so I am more than pleased with my fb find.

Dh is the vaccumer in our house and took purchasing our latest one very seriously, loads or research and YouTube reviews later we got a Sebo upright. It's a heavy commercial type one but my God it is good. We've had years of Dysons and Sharks and still have a Henry for the grubby renovation works but the Sebo is really good.

CatStoleMyChocolate · 09/01/2025 19:01

You need a Henry! And you’ll get one for well under that price. They are virtually indestructible - my first one lasted around 15 years and it was only our extension which finished it off. You get attachments with them for hard floors, etc. I think they’re great, if a little cumbersome.

Ineffable23 · 09/01/2025 19:01

You can get a Henry for £100 ish? Might do you? I know it's not as fancy as a Dyson or whatever but they're a pretty decent reliable hoover.

MathsMum3 · 09/01/2025 19:04

I swear by Sharks. Have had Dysons and Henrys in the past, but Shark are brilliant. They have a January sale on atm and several models under £200 depending on your requirements (pets, hard floors, etc.)

endsnewyearsday · 09/01/2025 19:07

If you want a cordless, I used one of these in a holiday cottage and it was great

My shark cordless is shite.

AgMaggy · 09/01/2025 19:10

I just got a corded Hoover upright for £200, directly from their website which included a an accessory pack worth £50. It’s fluffed my carpets up like new!

Kamek · 09/01/2025 19:11

I'd recommend a Henry if you want a corded one. I've also got a cordless Henry and that's great too. Better than the dyson it replaced.

Curtainqueen · 09/01/2025 19:11

I’ve never spent more than £50 on a hoover and they’ve always been really good.

Downtherivers · 09/01/2025 19:12

Take a look on the shark outlet on eBay. Our shark is fab

HellofromJohnCraven · 09/01/2025 19:38

We had a shark. It exploded, literally, exactly 6 days after the warranty expired.

sanityisamyth · 09/01/2025 19:40

Specifically a Hoover, or any vacuum cleaner?

Lambington · 09/01/2025 19:43

Ours was £40 in the sale from John Lewis (own brand). It's great!

ShalalaIa · 09/01/2025 19:57

Henry Quick Fabulous for hard and carpeted floors. Has a boost button that spins the brush. Bloody brilliant

Lonelycrab · 09/01/2025 19:57

Miele

booisbooming · 09/01/2025 19:59

HENRY! I would never in my life buy a hoover that wasn’t a Henry even if I was a billionaire.

Water41 · 09/01/2025 20:00

Vax Air Max

I bought one yesterday and it felt like it could suck the carpet off the floor.

This pic is after I've been using my old Shark daily!

Got a £700/£800 Dyson sold it , I definitely hate dysons. 😄
Not one for Henry bad for the back .

I swear by this hoover especially for the price .

bellsend · 09/01/2025 20:04

I hate the Henry with a passion. He is out to ruin my life. The wee bastard gets stuck on every door frame, falls over dramatically at every opportunity, and generally is just an absolute pain in the arse. That smug grin of his makes me want to smash him too.

Mine is violently pink which I kinda love 🤣

TheDandyLion · 09/01/2025 20:10

Look at reconditioned on ebay.

We bought a cordless Vax about 4 years ago £60 with rrp £180 direct from Vax reconditioned via ebay. Still works like a charm. Same with the Ninja foodie machine too.

Lonelycrab · 09/01/2025 20:11

Henry’s, good as they are, are bulky and cumbersome.
