Everything is so expensive! Or the brands I recognise anyway.

Please any recommendations for a good all rounder hoover for a decent price.

Thankyou

Dyson's are shite. My idiotic sister decided that my dad needed one because his Henry wasn't glamorous enough. DF hated it, so I gave it to DD2. She reports it is useless.

Henrys are amazing. Had mine for 33 years and he's still going strong. DF's is even older.

bleepingbleepybleep · 09/01/2025 20:26

Ive had a Henry, cordless shark and a dyson hoover before, but none of them compare to the cheap Russell Hobbs hoover I bought from Asda, think it was about £60!

CatherinedeBourgh · 09/01/2025 20:29

We've got a rowenta which is good and very quiet, for under 200.

My eufy robovac was also about 200 and it's great. Doesn't have the self emptying bit though, those are a fair bit more.

FoxtonFoxton · 09/01/2025 20:30

I've got normal Henry (which I love even though he's a enormous, overly dramatic twat) and the stick Henry Numatic Professional cordless which is also good for a quick whizz round.

CatherinedeBourgh · 09/01/2025 20:31

We also have a shark which is useless, and have had a million dysons which I've hated (after the very first one that came out way back when, which I loved. Don't know what happened to them).

My corded shark is shite.

So was mine apparently!

Glockenspock · 09/01/2025 20:37

Miele C1 is well within your budget. I've had mine for two years & absolutely love it. Still as efficient as the day it first got unboxed.

50Balesofgrey · 09/01/2025 20:39

I've just replaced my shark with a £55 wet and dry from Screwfix (like a Henry but more powerful motor). It's amazing!

Tulipvase · 09/01/2025 20:40

I’ve never understood the Henry love. The ones I’ve used are useless and fall over as soon as you look at them.

We have a Miele but it prob isn’t under 200 quid any more.

abracadabra1980 · 09/01/2025 20:44

Miele if you can stretch to one. They are absolutely fantastic vacuums and you can also get them serviced. I have had a Cat & Dog version for 15 years. It's seen me through 3 kids, two cats, three kids and two husbands 😁Also have an anti hair wrap cordless Shark. Good with hair but top heavy and has just snapped in the middle (circa 2 yrs old) 😡
He try lasted 10 yrs + - amazing for DIY and rubble collection, but became a bit cumbersome for my bad back. Also not great without an anti hair wrap roller bit I'm going back a few years. May have one like that now.
Cordless Dyson always been crap.
I'm about to take the plunge again with a Miele cordless. £200 ish bit for me with dogs and a bad back, it's a brand I know is excellent and I'm happy to pay a bit more for that's

DowntonNabby · 09/01/2025 20:46

We just swapped our Henry for this cordless Shark – currently £200 in the Argos sale. It's fantastic. Picks up all our dog's hair, gets right into every corner and is really lightweight.

Killerqueenie · 09/01/2025 20:54

I recently bought a Shark after having my Dyson for around 12 years. I was absolutely blown away by how much dirt it picked up, even after already going over the floors with my Dyson. I got the Shark lift away anti-hair wrap (corded) and it was around £150 in the sale a few weeks ago. It's so much smaller than the Dyson but much more powerful.

Gogogo12345 · 09/01/2025 20:57

Lol mine is an old Dyson I got on local freecycle group. Been running well for at least 5 years now. Seriously wouldn't consider wasting £200 on a hoover

Ilovemyshed · 09/01/2025 20:57

I hate Henry, annoying thing.

Love my Shark

Vax Air Max

https://www.vax.co.uk/air-stretch-pet-max-upright-vacuum-cleaner

I bought one yesterday and it felt like it could suck the carpet off the floor.

This pic is after I've been using my old Shark daily!

Right I have bought this! For £100 I feel that’s a bargain. The moment I looked I was sold on the detachable stair feature!

Fingers crossed it’s as good as yours and I don’t get a dud!

Thanks all 😊

Yeah mine started well. Been shit since it was about 6 months old.

I hope it works for you too!

The best cleaner I've used is my Hetty. I've tried quite a few over the last 30 years and she never lets me down.

LarkinAboot · 10/01/2025 17:52

Another vote for shark

OurDreamLife · 10/01/2025 17:53

I bought a pink Hetty hoover for my new house and it’s amazing. The best hoover I’ve ever had 😂

CranfordScones · 10/01/2025 18:09

I rejected Shark because they make their products hard to repair - see the youtube video - Why Can't You Repair Your Shark Vacuum?

I recently bought a Hoover corded upright. I don't like cordless because it's more to go wrong and the batteries eventually wear out.
