What on earth is going on with him. Calling for Nagel Farage to resign. Now wanting the PM to resign amd said we have a tyrannical government. It's all a bit odd.

The interesting thing about this thread is the string of accusations and claims against me just because I stood up for free speech. It's really scary that society has become so intolerant and segmented that we can't even have a debate about people being free to say things you don't agree with. We have become so used to echo chambers and censoring things we find uncomfortable. It's unhealthy imo.

That's a lefty trait. And because people are now openly vocalising their concerns on, for example, immigration, and actually having an opinion, or supporting Reform, the lefties really hate that. Hence seeing increasing anger and frothing at the mouth on MN atm (MN being prefominantly tobthe left). They used to be able to close posters down by squealing bigot or racist. But that just doesn't work now, and they're getting increasingly agitated. There's lots I dont agreecl with, but i respect someone elses right to free speech and another opinion which might not align to my own.

You really should back up these claims with some evidence

Fat chance of that being found.

Crime and Policing Bill – A bill to improve policing, crack down on anti-social behaviour, tackle knife and retail crime, and provide a stronger response to violence against women and girls.

from the King's speech

https://www.instituteforgovernment.org.uk/explainer/2024-kings-speech

So what? It doesn’t tackle the underlying issues and the difference in policing.

Crikeyalmighty · 07/01/2025 13:20

@Feelingathomenow well that's strange as the Tory's played the 'mess of the last government card' for at least 4 years- Labour have been in power for what 6 months? Of which 2 were parliamentary recess. Funny how it was ok for the Tory's to bang on about it for years without a peep from Tory voters- hence I will allow Labour to bang on about it as long as they are also looking at some positive stuff too - it takes time to enact anything as to be frank the previous gvt were simply not governing from 2020 onwards- just raiding the coffers for mates and donors and fire fighting as a result of their policies.

Riots were within 4 weeks- supposedly about Southport but actually mainly just a load of thick yobs ( all ages) who just love a bit of argy bargy and opportunities to loot etc and hate anyone who'isn't like them' - that may be people of other ethnic origins- but equally applies to anyone who doesn't like flags/football - doesn't support Brexit- thinks Farage/Robinson are self interested conman etc etc - I actually very impressed that they got them seen in court and acted on very quickly- they aren't ordinary working class people- they are scumbags

What evidence would you like? Overseeing the release of convicted criminals, many of whom were mistakenly released early and committed further crimes like rape then filling the prisons with people making comments on Facebook. I can’t wait for the day he walks out of Downing Street never to return.

No. You seem to have an issue with comprehension. And here’s me think8ng he was admirably clear and direct. Can’t account for wilful misinterpretation though, I guess.
Do you think ‘far right’ encompasses Tory and Reform and all their supporters? Because that wasn’t stated, so I’m not sure how else you would arrive at that understanding.

Of course he wont openly identify the far right he references are Reform or Tory. Dont be silly. He's not stupid, but many statements he has made in the past imply that. That's politicians - its what they dont say thats important, not what they do say....

Ah, there you go again, the Tories did it so Labour can. Why bother with a Labour government if they’re apparently the same as the Tories. I think you’re generalising about the people in the riots.

You’re right - that’s why he called out the leader of the opposition for not condemning hate speech against Jess Phillips. That’s a shocking omission, wouldn’t you agree?

Crikeyalmighty · 07/01/2025 13:25

@Livelovebehappy ooh I wouldn't say it's just a lefty trait- I got a fair bit of very nasty personal abuse from plenty of Reform supporting people, all sexes and all ages for being anti Brexit for economic reasons and stating that Farage is on the make- and giving my reasons why - not much free speech tolerance going on there - please don't imply itsall lefties!! I'm in the middle and can't stand intolerant people to the far left either- completely unreal about what works outside their own bubble

Oh he was, he was making it very clear that people shouldn’t do things he didn’t approve of, he created fear. He is one of the most bullying leaders Britain has ever had.

He managed to control an already very frightening situation where people were literally running riot, setting fire to hotels full of asylum seekers and beating up innocent people based on the colour of their skin. He didn't approve of this behaviour? I should hope not!!

Ironic - you respect people's right to free speech but only if it aligns to your own and it isn't the speech of the 'lefties' or the Liberals, in fact you will very much try to force those kinds to think like you! 😂

Crikeyalmighty · 07/01/2025 13:33

@Feelingathomenow well fairs fair isn't it- it's called politics- i think people need reminding why we can't enact certain things at the drop of a hat-.why is it that Tory's are allowed to play dirty but Labour have to turn themselves into saints when it comes to 'communicating'- they are already at a disadvantage through a predominantly right wing media . I disagree about the riots though so we will have to disagree- and what does it solve? We all know there are issues, but could just as easily have been a white scumbag lone wolf - plenty of them about- bet you they wouldn't have been rioting then.

noblegiraffe · 07/01/2025 13:34

People who smugly say things like ‘I’ve got it blocked on Twitter so it doesn’t affect me’ must be astonished when things like riots happen.

An out of sight, out of mind approach that will eventually collide with reality.

Of course people can start multiple Musk threads on mn and talk about him daily if they prefer, up to them.

It will help his earnings and reach though.

@Feelingathomenow nope I think he's just fine and dandy -- be very interesting if Farage had done these things - I bet all the right wingers would be absolutely salivating over him being 'tough on law and order' you don't like him I get that - I do and I don't envy him because whatever he does he won't ever please someone like yourself who just doesn't like the fact he isn't of your party - same goes for the far left who just don't like the fact he isn't Jeremy Corbyn and his lets be nice and open minded to everyone naivety - when actually he isn't particularly nice and is as hard nosed as anyone, as demonstrated in his campaign this time-

I’m not saying riots solve anything. Yet we had the opportunity to actually think about why they happened and address the underlying causes. That is not what is happening. How are Labour specifically targeting young working class white men/boys. Year after year the lowest results in education. How are the specifically ensuring all immigrants- inc second generation are integrating into British values or suffering consequences? How are they protecting local communities, the facilities and traditions which are disappearing when high immigrant numbers don’t partake/use them instead wanting to create a little version of their home country. How are they protecting kids education, making sure incoming communities aren’t valued over existing ones?

I don’t have a party, well actually the only party I’ve been a member of is Labour. But also voted for every other party at one time or another, I liked Blair (got my vote) I liked Brown. I despise Starmer because he is a terrible leader who will significantly harm this country. Tbh I would rather have had Corbyn, that is saying something. Starmer is not dissimilar to Musk, just a lot less successful and favours different groups.

verdantverdure · 07/01/2025 13:46

I'm quite worried about foreign interference in our country. Our culture and democracy is being eroded. So many people seem to mindlessly repeat what seems to me to be obvious propaganda.
