Anyone around for a hand hold? Trigger warning

Iwasjustasking · 05/01/2025 13:25

Is anyone around for a hand hold please? Currently sat in emergency care convinced I have cervical cancer and I keep on having panick attacks. I haven’t had a smear for ten years (please no judgment at all) but for the past few months have had bloody discharge, I went to the doctors Friday as have been bleeding for 14 days only a few days after my last period, I have horrific back pain and a lot of blood in my urine, please talk me down. I am a mess

Well done for seeking help. You’re in the best place right now. When I feel panic I breathe in for 7 seconds and out for 11 seconds, on repeat - sounds silly but I find it squishes away adrenaline.

AliTheMinx · 05/01/2025 14:43

Sending lots of love and positivity. You are in the best possible hands now xx

NewGreenDuck · 05/01/2025 14:47

I hope you are seen shortly, in the meantime breathe in through your nose, out through your mouth slowly. Keep doing this. Keep your mouth slightly open as it helps to release tension.
Sending good vibes to you.

Hand holding here too. I understand why you're scared, but it's as likely to be something easily treatable as it is to be cancer. Try to keep your mind from spiralling and keep posting, we're here to support you.

I hope you get some answers.
. Find something on your phone to watch or a game to play to pass the time.

GucciBear · 05/01/2025 14:49

Echo the Yoga breathing advice. Good luck.

coralsky · 05/01/2025 14:50

What did the doctor say on Friday op?

FatArse123 · 05/01/2025 14:51

Another hand hold from me.

hopeishere · 05/01/2025 14:53

Have things got worse or did the GP make this appointment for you?

Iwasjustasking · 05/01/2025 14:53

I’m out of urgent care, the doctor basically said there was nothing they could do and to make an appointment with the gp tomorrow, didn’t do one test or anything that was literally it, the doctor said on Friday it may be an unusual period, I’m in an absolute state at the moment.

And Thankyou for all your messages so far, the breathing has helped me a lot.

Iwasjustasking · 05/01/2025 14:55

@hopeishere i thought I had blood in my urine, that I only noticed yesterday, the urgent care said that it’s inconclusive as they can’t see where it is coming from, it may be vaginal bleeding.

Could be urine infection with the back pain

Nosferfartu · 05/01/2025 14:56

Sounds like it could be a UTI?

Iwasjustasking · 05/01/2025 15:43

They checked my urine, clear of infection, I’m in such a bad place right now

QuestionableMouse · 05/01/2025 15:48

You can buy UTI antibiotics otc at most pharmacies. Utis don't always show on a dipstick test.

Try not to panic, there's loads of stuff it can be that aren't cancer!

coralsky · 05/01/2025 16:37

Op I mean this kindly, but I think you should go back to the gp on Monday and also address your anxiety with them. Your original post said lots of blood in your urine, sounds like you're getting in a bit of a state.

Iwasjustasking · 05/01/2025 17:45

@coralsky thankyou, I will do, my anxiety is out of control and I know it is, thankyou

ToKittyornottoKitty · 05/01/2025 17:48

If you are still having bloody discharge then it’s likely to be that rather than in your urine, of course you are right to get a GP to check it out though, and urgent care really can’t do anything else’s today. The GP needs to help anxiety but also investigate the cause of the bleeding, it can be caused by all sorts of things so don’t panic. How old are you?

Sunnysidegold · 05/01/2025 17:52

I get anxious like this too op.

I would set an alarm for when the GP opens, and plan out what I'm going to tell the receptionist when I make the appointment and the. Outline what I'm going to tell the doctor including if I'm scared it is cancer. They will be able to advise you to next steps and maybe even help with the anxiety.

Then you have a plan in place, there is nothing more you can physically do between now and the n. Is there anyone you can chat to now in real life? I know it's scary, but sometimes just getting a lot off your chest can help you feel better .

I would also second advice for finding something to watch or a wee game to play on your phone to pass the time.

I hope you get help tomorrow.

ClioMuse · 05/01/2025 18:08

Could just be something simple but you are right to get it checked out 💐

We all go through health scares - I was worried there was something really wrong with my bowels two years ago but everything was fine.

Don't be hard on yourself.

Barney16 · 05/01/2025 18:15

Seeing blood anywhere is scary but you have absolutely done the right thing in seeking medical assistance. I had all the symptoms you describe and it was a polyp. I'm not suggesting that's what you have but mentioning because there are lots of fairly routine things you could have. There's nothing you can do until tomorrow so take care of yourself, hot water bottle, box set, cup of tea, chocolate biscuits, what ever is going to make you feel comforted. Do you have anyone you can chat to? Mum, sister, best friend?

Iwasjustasking · 05/01/2025 18:29

Thankyou @Barney16, I do think I am spiralling, my dh is amazing and has been great the past few days, I really have spiralled, always jumping to the worst case scenario.
