I'm glad Elon Musk is calling out our government . It's an important issue and he's certainly raised its profile

Oh god. Not another one.

He's reposting tonight that people should contact their local MPs to demand a vote of no confidence in government.

What's Labours majority - do you know?

And will you answer the call?

He also asked Charles to shut down Government, a situation that has not happened since 1824?

He does not understand how the UK work, quite like you.

Have you considered getting a job. You relentless drive for something could really help some causes.

On my Chrimbo holidays & I am as entitled to post on mumsnet just as much as any other poster. Why are you trying to police my thread?

@Chainzreaction has anything anyone has posted since yesterday given you pause for thought at all?

DuncinToffee · 04/01/2025 19:09

I'm going to give Labour a chance & see what they propose to do over the next few days. They are under immense pressure & I believe this may be the catalyst they need.
It must be treated as a national emergency.

She'll have to take a short break from her endeavours on here and her fervent following of the sainted Elon's every word to get her email written. 🤣

Not trying to police your thread, just trying to include some facts.

36 hours ago you did not know there had been any inquiries.

People have been contacting their MP's about Musk's misinformation tweets re Starmer and Phillips

National emergency, 3 years since the IICSA inquiry reported and you were blissfully unaware

I did know about the enquiry but felt a new one was necessary or at least the old one be reopened.
Since yesterday my stance has changed slightly & I agree with victim SW that a full independent investigation take place in every council in the country (not just Oldham as Labour proposed) I am very hopeful Labour will indeed extend their enquiry to ALL councils if they decide not to do a national enquiry.

Well I was asked if was going to write to my MP to in regards to demanding a vote of no confidence & I'm not going to yet as I believe Labour can do an awful lot more . Let's wait & see.

Yes but not one person has given a comprehensive answer as to WHY those women were failed.

Today's Telegraph article provides a glimpse into possible reasons.

What matters is what happens next. The ball is in Labours court, they have many options . What will they choose to do.

Rape gang culture ( plus the aiding & abetting of it) is both a national scandal and a national emergency.

They have. Several reasons, because it won’t just be one. Classism. Sexism. Human error. And yes, some people were worried about ‘community harmony’ and that’s awful.
People faced c9nsequences. And it’s been explained why for most of them those consequences dont involve jail time.

No you fecking didn't, you denied it existing despite numerous links to it. Only when I C&P did you acknowledge it existed.

Everyone can go back over the two threads if they can be bothered and check this out.

But do you think the legislation should be changed & it should involve prosecution if vulnerable people were not adequately protected?

You're lying, OP. You didn't know about the enquiry, and then later had to pretend that you did and then keep doubling down.

You know they’ve already announced and done things in this regard before Musk piped up? You do, because someone upthread wrote it all out for you. And Musk making a few ignorant tweets does not put the government ‘under great pressure’.

It’s been explained endlessly why you can’t make it illegal to make a mistake at work.
I think the IICSA recommendations should be enacted - as does the government.

As I said let's just wait & see. I am very hopeful for much more meaningful changes & also in regards to legislation.

Labour must listen to SW & launch enquiries into every single council
Oldham is only scratching the surface.

If they investigate every single council (independently) what more will be uncovered & what else can be added to current recommendations they say they are implementing. Either that or a new national enquiry.
I am hopeful they will listen to a victims voice .

OP has no clue about employment law.
OP has never worked with vulnerable children or women.
OP has never worked with offenders.

No clue if OP has ever had a job to make a mistake at.

But they can change legislation & procedures..
What constitutes a genuine mistake, what constitutes negligence?
Not acting on a complaint of abuse? Do you class that ad a mistake or negligence?

She certainly didn't think it was a national emergency when the government received the report in 2022 and failed to implement it. For her it only became one when Musk stuck his oar in.
