@Chainzreaction

"Exactly. They are more pissed off that EM has challenged government rather than how important raising awareness regarding rape gangs is"

Musk has been waging a misinformation war against Labour for months on Twatter.

And you know that the papers and the media have dined out on stories about child exploitation by grooming gangs FOR YEARS. There have been billions of posts about it - the far right love salivating about the details of child rape when there are Muslims involved.

You'd have to have been dead or living under a rock not to know about it.

The reason why this has all been rehashed now is part of a concerted and ongoing campaign to trash Labour & Starmer.

Yep it’s been established that op did not know about the enquiry, was informed, then changed her ask and lied about it

however she’s now in a bit of a mess calling for a new enquiry while saying the old one’s recommendation should have been actioned…

I know it's been established. Unfortunately the OP has memory issues around her own posts so I was just reminding her about what she said.

No that was not established, I like many others called for a full enquiry or at least a reopening of the old one .

Not in a pickle at all. If the recommendations had been actioned at the time, we wouldn't be in this mess would we!

Edited

So why are you not asking for them to be actioned now?

hint. It’s because you didn’t know there had been an enquiry with recommendations when you started banging on in support of Elon Musk as you don’t give two shits about victims, just political point scoring

BIossomtoes · 03/01/2025 17:08

Chainzreaction · 03/01/2025 17:01

Yes they absolutely should have actioned the recommendations.

At. Fucking. Last.

Longtimelurkerfinallyposts · 03/01/2025 17:09

OP: do you even know what the recommendations were?!
How do you feel about Elon Musk's unwillingness to call for them to be implemented? Should we assume that his silence on this matter means he supports the drugging and rape of children and young people?!

I voted for Labour last year and I would love to see them do their job. I feel they will need to do a new investigation or at least reopen the 2022 one.

Why not just implement the findings?

Yes I do but it is now 2025. We got the recommendations in 2022. Are they outdated now? Do they need modernising.
I can't speak for Elon unfortunately but I feel he is correct in calling out the government.

OneAmberFinch · 03/01/2025 17:12

In this thread: "A report was written, it was neatly filed away, so shut up about it."

Please feel free to share copies of all the emails you've all presumably sent to encourage MPs to enact the findings?

How the hell can they be outdated? Jesus wept.

Why not just implement the findings?

Well if victims are calling for a new public enquiry is it not the government's perogative to listen to them?

so what do you want

Labour to implement the recommendations
Labout to starte a new investigation
or
Labour to re-open the inquiry?

At least make up your mind

Lightswitchup · 03/01/2025 17:13

I’m not sure OP actually wants a new Inquiry or if they think there should be further criminal investigation, which are two different things.

Are you fucking kidding? What have your countless posts on the matter been today if they weren't to put EM's cynical agenda front and centre on MN?!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 03/01/2025 17:15

BIossomtoes · 03/01/2025 17:08

At. Fucking. Last.

So OP - when you start the inevitable thread 3 - can I suggest (purely in the interest of balance) it should be titled
Why didn't the Tory Government enact the recommendations of the Jay Inquiry?

MrsSchrute · 03/01/2025 17:16

From an article you previously posted:

'Responding to the criticism, a Labour spokesperson pointed out that the party called for and supported a national inquiry into child sexual abuse under Professor Alexis Jay, which concluded in 2022, as well as supporting an independent review commissioned by Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham, which covered Oldham.'

So there have already been two reviews, and the government has said they would 'welcome and support an independent investigation commissioned by Oldham Council which puts victims’ voices at its heart, following the examples of Telford and Rotherham'.

But you think we need another review??

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/01/2025 17:16

You’re really not helping yourself OP. This doubling down is really very silly. Is your name Kemi?

poetryandwine · 03/01/2025 17:17

Chainzreaction · 03/01/2025 17:12

Well if victims are calling for a new public enquiry is it not the government's perogative to listen to them?

Good practice does not become outdated in three years.

Also thus far you’ve identified one victim, Sarah Wilson from the Daily Fail article you link to, calling for a new enquiry. The other victim interviewed there did not.

You keep referring to victims, plural, calling for a new enquiry. Who are the others?

Longtimelurkerfinallyposts · 03/01/2025 17:17

So you're familiar with the recommendations (of the public inquiry that you didn't even realise had already taken place when you started your first thread this morning)
Can you tell us:
Which ones you believe are now "outdated"?
How exatly would you "modernise" them?
Which ones should be prioritised?
Which actions did you ask your MPs to take exactly?

Billydavey · 03/01/2025 17:17

Chainzreaction · 03/01/2025 17:12

Victims are calling for the recommendations to be actioned

you agreed the conservatives were at fault by not actioning them

youre still saying they should not action them but have a new enquiry. You are all
over the place op!

Front & centre on mumsnet 🤣 His views are front & centre on most British media & all over social media. Yes I am very happy he has raised this again as rape culture & gang rape is a serious & terrifying issue across Europe ( Germany & Sweden to name two countries) so any exposure is good.

Call me what you like, I don't give a toss what an anonymous nobody like you thinks.

I do know that you are more outraged that EM has the balls to challenge & humiliate govt & you are the one who couldn't give a fiddlers about the victims who want their voices heard. If you cared you would be delighted Elon has put the spotlight on govt past & present for their utter failure here.

Nah, I can see him for what he is, just as I can see you for what you are

I'm only pointing out that you've been on MN all day actively promoting his ignorant intervention. If you think that's a laughing matter, that's for your own conscience.
