To think "The Traitors" is the biggest load of guff on TV?

It's stupid. There's no game at the heart of it. It's like Deal Or No Deal for prime time.

I think it’s brilliant!

Love the drama, the tension, the cliffhangers, how fast paced it is…fantastic tv!!!

Oneofusisdead · 02/01/2025 21:57

I agree, I don't understand why it's so massively hyped and gets so much press coverage. We're all supposed to love it - like Bake Off, which I do love! - but it's so banal.

And I know I'm being a bad feminist, but why has Claudua Winkleman reduced herself to a bad caricature. I had the too long fringe and too much black eyeliner look when I was 16, why is a grown woman looking at the world through a bloody fringe? I can't help thinking that she's writing terrible poetry about how no one understands her.

I also think the mini games are rubbish and it would be more fun if the traitors had an incentive to sabotage each game. Like if there was an additional seperate prize pot for traitors,

They introduced this in the latest episode.

steelingmyself · 02/01/2025 22:03

Sorry if my post was misleading. There was incentive to sabotage, but not in the form of a prize pot.

dixon86 · 02/01/2025 22:06

Why don't they sleep at the castle?

When they get picked up from wherever they sleep in the morning to go to the castle they must all see each other so they already know who's been murdered!

I don't think the 4x4's will be doing twenty two individual journeys

DarkAndTwisties · 02/01/2025 22:10

I hadn’t realised they were making an Irish Traitors. Hope someone buys the rights to show that in the UK

IPlayer has the American, New Zealand, and Australian versions so I wouldn't be surprised if they also got the Irish one at some point as well.

Brutal!
Why be so personal about the host??!

Indeed! What has Claudia ever done to the OP?! I feel if they are going to call someone a wanker they should at least give a reason!

I don't understand where you are finding the drama. The contestants act like there is some but, at the heart of it, there isn't.

There is no way to identify a traitor. It's just a guess. So accusing someone of being a traitor is unproblematic. It's not an insult or a slur. It's random. And you can just be killed at random too.

Deal or no deal is the worst show on tv

But the traitors has more to it than opening boxes 😄, it's more like big brother, the early days

ViolinsPlayGentlyOn · 02/01/2025 22:15

There is no way to identify a traitor.

There often is when you get a bit further into the series, which is also where I think it gets a lot more interesting.

I once made this sort of snap judgement of her and then I heard her interviewed on the radio and realised how wrong I was to judge her or anyone in this way. She actually came across as very thoughtful, humble and insightful person. She gave a reason too for her fringe etc, though I can’t now remember what it was.

I think it's all a secret marketing ploy to sell tweed, oversized knitwear and fingerless gloves.

Why are you taking this so seriously 🤣🤣

I find there to be LOTS of drama and excitement, you may not see it, but that doesn’t mean it’s not there. My boyfriend finds football very exciting and dramatic and I don’t, but I also don’t care enough to quiz him and find out what exactly he loves so much about it, I just live and let be!

I've seen episodes from previous seasons. There is no way to tell. People have "hunches" (i.e. guesswork) and sometimes they are correct, but there's no way of knowing.

Wow, she’s got her own style and looks amazing. Love her traitor clothes. She doesn’t give a shit and is clearly comfortable in her own skin, that is why she’s successful.

I didn’t watch the other series, quite enjoying this one mostly due to the fact I want to see Armani go down! Shes soooo cocky! And how is nobody clocking on to Helen? She’s so obvious!

I haven't seen the Aussie version. I think the entire format of the game is fatally flawed, though. There is no actual benefit in finding a traitor

There is a benefit though. In order to win the cash. Have you watched a series from start to finish? If not, watch the last series.

At the start it is all a bit random as no-one has anything to go on. It gets much more strategic as the game progresses. The faithfuls get an idea of who a traitor is but mustn’t play their card too early for fear of being murdered. Also the traitors need to turn on each other eventually in order to throw the scent off themselves and also so they don’t need to share the cash at the end.

It is a fascinating and entertaining watch.

Which one's Helen? I agree Armani has gone too big too soon!

I love TT and I'm not generally a gameshow or reality TV person - I just think it's well done and entertaining, and that's all there is to it really (although the music is terrible!)

Maskrosen · 02/01/2025 22:23

I used to really enjoy Claudia’s radio show.

I do find the faux chumminess, love and tears grating- you’ve only just met each other!

lolly792 · 02/01/2025 22:23

It's groupthink at work, so actually there is a fair bit of strategy, planting seeds in people's minds etc

But of course ultimately it's just an easy watch tv programme and it's fine if you don't want to watch it OP

I neither love nor hate it so no skin off my nose but you posted on AIBU and seem displeased that some people enjoy it and have reasons for it. Nobody is making you watch it. It’s trashy TV but after a hard day, sometimes I want to watch trash.

The opera singer. The gasps, “that was sooo stressful”….
