Didn’t go out last night, but up until 12.45, cold but sunny day.
Tree still up, which feels a bit weird, but not doing it today

What are you doing/eating today? Especially with little kids…have a 6 year old still full of energy

Me and the teens are all still in our beds.
DH has just got up to have a little kitchen tidy - when I get up i'll be cooking a roast beef dinner, and we'll play some board games.

MoreIcedLattePlease · 01/01/2025 13:53

We didn't go anywhere last night (not our thing) but the DC like to stay up and play board games before watching the fireworks on TV and I am usually in bed by 10pm so I'm a bit tired today. Currently, I am choosing audiobooks on Audible, then I may begin listening one. I will also do some colouring, possibly a bit of online shopping and eating chocolate/drinking Pepsi. I'm giving myself today as a last day off, before I have to start planning lessons tomorrow ready to go back to work next week. It's pissing down and horribly windy outside so I have no desire to go anywhere or get dressed!

I also have to take DD for a medical procedure tomorrow, and want to get my car thoroughly cleaned inside and out.

We are also moving house next week, so I will start making lists of things I don't want the removal company to pack and prepare for DH and I to do one last blitz through the house of 'shit we don't need that can go to the tip.'

DH is cooking steak and dauphinoise potatoes for tea tonight, which I'm very much looking forward to. I shall also have a lovely 'everything' bath before an early night.

neverbeenskiing · 01/01/2025 14:01

DH made pancakes for breakfast this morning, then we took the inside decorations down (the outside ones will stay up until the weekend) and had a bit of a tidy up. Now DD is in the bath pampering herself with her new smellies, DS and DH are watching Wallace and Grommit and i'm browsing the online sales with a cat on my lap while the robot vacuum does its thing. We've all got colds so are feeling a bit lazy but will probably drag ourselves out for a walk later.

BobnLen · 01/01/2025 14:01

Watching Missing You on Netflix, weather is wet and a bit windy, if it had been nice we would have gone out for a walk, DH has but he doesn't care if it's wet and cold

goingdownfighting · 01/01/2025 14:04

Cleared up after NYE party, big brunch cooked and eaten, washing on.

Time to binge watch the day of the jackal.

Dinner will be soft tacos

Perhaps go for a walk after dinner if it stays dry.

marriednotdead · 01/01/2025 14:05

I've de Christmased the house- I'd usually wait until 12th night but we will have a house guest in the lounge for an unspecified period from the weekend.
Just paused for lunch and then I'm going to jenga all the boxes back into the under stairs cupboard and tidy up. Will make gift tags from some of the Christmas cards for next year, I used last year's ones this time and they were great.
Got a jigsaw on the go which is keeping DP busy.
Dinner will be leftovers because I'm not going out in this vile weather!

destiel00 · 01/01/2025 14:07

Been for a walk but it's very cold and wet ❄️

Now, I'm snuggled in bed listening to podcasts and going to start a new book

The last couple of days have been very stressful so need a quiet day

NovemberMorn · 01/01/2025 14:08

I am doing absolutely nothing, other than fiddle about online with meaningless trivia.
Was out late, in bed for 2.30...slept in till 10, planned a small shop (run out of milk and bread) looked at the pouring rain, and suddenly cereal for breakfast didn't seem that important.

LisaD1 · 01/01/2025 14:09

As little as possible! Weather not great here (gusty wind and non stop rain), I was up early to sort out the horses, walked the dogs and then made a cooked breakfast. Teens haven’t appeared yet, dogs are sleeping, DH and I watching tv, surfing and dosing. I’ll be back out later for horse duties and dog walking then back in pj’s.

No clue what dinner is, we’ve got some bake at home bread and Camembert so that’s looking favourite at the moment. None of us really fancy a full meal.

CeceliaImrie · 01/01/2025 14:24

Diddly shit.

In front of Dr Who with DS in pyjamas drinking Earl grey and don't plan on doing a lot more. Perfect!

zingally · 01/01/2025 14:25

Stayed up until about 12:20am last night, then up at about 8:40.

I've taken down the Christmas tree and all the decorations. Tree has gone in its box under the stairs, and the rest of the decs are in plastic tubs in the garage. Then hoovered round.
It's always a good job done, but never one I enjoy or look forward to.

No plans for the rest of the day now. Just having a coffee, but feeling quite heavy-headed and sleepy. If it wasn't raining, I'd probably go for a walk around the block to perk myself up, so I'll probably go and have a nap instead.

TheNinthLock · 01/01/2025 14:29

Went for an open water swim this morning - bit breezy but great fun. Then home for hot chocolate and some bacon / eggs.
Going to make a start on taking Christmas decorations down.

Roast dinner this evening with the last of the Christmas ice cream (homemade by DH with raisins and Marsala wine) for afters.
Dh back to work tomorrow, me on Monday, so back to the regular routine!

tinytemper66 · 01/01/2025 15:07

Just took all decorations and the tree down. Away tomorrow morning til Sunday and don't want to come back to it after work on Monday.

Oblomov25 · 01/01/2025 16:10

Nothing. God it was miserable today, overcast and grey, dark by 3pm. Put Christmas decs away, early because back at work tomorrow, and wanted both ds's to help me before ds1 went back to uni. Roast lamb. Early to bed.

Bbq1 · 01/01/2025 16:19

We always have a family roast on NYD. We had pork which was delicious. I cooked and dh washed up as we did the reverse on Christmas Day.

Topseyt123 · 01/01/2025 16:29

I took DD3 and her friend to the airport as they are going away for a few days.

I did a load of washing, hung it on the airer and took the tree down. Now I am adding some books to my new Kobo ereader which I plan to have alongside my kindle. I'm happy with all of that.

Aren't decorations supposed to be up until 12th night 6th January. Mine are staying up, love the sparkling lights in this nasty weather.

Mine too! I think they are very cozy and comforting after Christmas Day. Plus I like to keep them up until 12th night/Ephinany as is the tradition.

Mine also.

It's a tradition we always keep to, Lord knows we don't seem to have many traditions left now in the UK.

Eggsley · 01/01/2025 18:20

Not done much at all! We went to some friends for NYE and didn't get home until 2.30am. I was up at 8 as I'm full of cold and couldn't sleep. Picked DS1 up from a sleepover then went back to bed until mid-afternoon.

DH is feeling a bit delicate so has been dozing on the sofa / watching tv all day and the DSs have been gaming. The dog took one look at the weather and refused to go for a walk, so he's dozed on the sofa all day too. Just waiting for a takeaway to be delivered for dinner, then watching the Traitors and going to have an early night.

I'm back to work tomorrow but DSs not back at school until next week. Will take the decorations down over the weekend and hopefully I will feel better by then so can give the house a proper clean.

I need to write everyone on our new calendar but don't feel up to it today so will probably do that at the weekend too.

BondStreet · 01/01/2025 18:23

We went for a drizzly walk earlier, we took hot chocolates with us to keep us warm so that was nice.

I’m just making a crispy duck salad, I am famished. Family are laying out on the sofa watching tv.
