Didn’t go out last night, but up until 12.45, cold but sunny day.
Tree still up, which feels a bit weird, but not doing it today

What are you doing/eating today? Especially with little kids…have a 6 year old still full of energy

We didn't get to bed until 3 am so feeling rested after a long lie in .
Dh picking dd (19)up from her friend's house and dropping other friends home on the way.
I'm cooking's bolognaise for lunch then watching a movie together this afternoon and possibly another game of our new board game.
Dd is making a Korean sweetcorn dip tonight that we had on Christmas Eve and she's been dreaming of since!(possibly spurred on by no sleep and a bit of a hangover from her night last night)
Will FaceTime both other DD's later too .
I'm feeling pretty content and happy after a hard last year with dh diagnosed with cancer but he's doing amazingly and this year is hopefully going to be less stressful 🙏
Happy new year everyone

No little kids, but doing some baking and curling up on the sofa in front of the fire with DDog 🐶 DP and an audio book for us all to listen to ☺️

Postbox10 · 01/01/2025 12:52

Had a bit of a lie in, made bacon bagels for breakfast for me and DH. Took the dogs on a good walk to tire them out and off for a drive and to sit and have a coffee for a change of scenery! DH will probably continue to do some decorating when we get back and I’ll curl up on the sofa with a book or film. Making the most of chilling before back at work tomorrow!

hopeishere · 01/01/2025 12:53

Have just got all the decorations down and put away!! Am going to walk the dog after lunch, then we are going out for dinner and then I'm going to pack my bag for work tomorrow!

Moier · 01/01/2025 12:53

Still got Norovirus.. D+V🤢 managed a bit of soup after my imodium and diarolyte.
We have just booked to go to Tenerife in 10 days time.. so been researching the village.. got a villa with an heated pool.. this break is so much needed.
I've been watching " Until l kill you" just one more to go.. l remember reading about it in the papers.
I managed a shower .. I'm back in bed with cat laid with me.
Not doing anything else.. no energy.
Usually I'm out today for a trip to the coast.. .
Happy New Year everyone.🎉

ZippyCat · 01/01/2025 12:57

Dp at work also had to work boxing day 🙄 so no nice lie ins her won't see him until 7 this evening I'm home today but not planning on doing anything to be honest other then housework
Do wish the kids would outside would stop kicking their bloody football right into my wall every 5 mins sooner they go back to school the better

Judellie · 01/01/2025 13:00

Didn't get up for ages.
Nipped down and put a load of washing on as it was really windy then went back to bed.
Got up, dressed, scrambled egg, sausage, onion and beetroot for breakfast, went out to get some parsley and put a bit of turmeric on the egg, hopefully it's helping with joints. Also had a cod liver oil tablet.
Emptied and reloaded the dishwasher.
Sent a few Happy New Year messages.
Hung the washing out then optimistically stripped and changed the bed. I've had to bring the first lot of washing in now tho as it's started to rain.
Did the porch windowsills with linen fresh zoflora as I like the smell. Messaged my auntie and going there this afternoon.
Wondering what to have for my lunch, maybe just Philadelphia on toast, I think. Now off to read what everyone else is doing.

Baneofmyexistence · 01/01/2025 13:08

Nothing doing here! Had a lazy morning really. DD is back to school tomorrow so a resting day for her. We thought we might walk out for a coffee but our town has flooded badly in parts overnight after torrential rain. Luckily for us not our street but staying in seems a more sensible option today!

LeaveALittleNote · 01/01/2025 13:09

I slept in late. Got up to put a wash on and have a cup of tea, and now I’m back in bed. I have to do a dog walk in a minute. It’s pouring with rain, and I’m tired. Trying to psych myself up.
Going to a friend’s house for a curry this afternoon. It’s become a bit of a New Year’s Day tradition.

AuntieMarys · 01/01/2025 13:10

Awake since 3. Gym at 9 then coffee.
Book 1 of the year!

Tisfortired · 01/01/2025 13:12

Absolutely nothing and I’m thrilled!

With the chaos of Christmas, Boxing Day, NYE and DS birthday yesterday we have been doing nothing but hosting, cooking and cleaning for 2 straight weeks. The house is nice and clean (if a complete tip) and we have nowhere to be and nobody to see for the first time in ages.

Im currently eating the last of the cheese and crackers and making a steak pie but that’s it for me today.

BadgerInDungarees · 01/01/2025 13:13

It's a nice day here after a stormy few so I got up and brought the dogs on an extra long walk. I came home did some cleaning, made eggs for lunch now I think I will spend the afternoon painting. I got some new paints for Christmas and have been too ill to properly try them out but today feels like the day!

Emilyjayne9421 · 01/01/2025 13:17

Not a lot. I took the kids out shopping and for lunch yesterday. We all stayed up for the bells so lazy day today, starting the new year as we mean to go on - doing more of what we enjoy and not being so stressed about work. I might take the tree down later but for now we’re gaming on the switch together (kids are 13, 8 and 6). Hubby watching Netflix. I do need to do some studying but that can wait until tonight

TheWernethWife · 01/01/2025 13:25

Aren't decorations supposed to be up until 12th night 6th January. Mine are staying up, love the sparkling lights in this nasty weather.

Growlybear83 · 01/01/2025 13:27

I'm having a nice quiet day. I went to bed at about 3, so didn't get up until 10. We're just having some of the turkey soup, and then I'm going to declutter some of the kitchen cupboards before I put the xmas china away.

Downsidesupside · 01/01/2025 13:30

Dsil is a nurse who worked Christmas day so didn't get a proper Christmas dinner. We are doing another one today so that she gets to eat one (we live too far away to have dropped one off to her). We've also invited dd boyfriend to join us, which is terrifying for all concerned as it's been a few months and we haven't met him properly yet. I thought it might be easier to meet with food involved, rather than over an interrogation desk which was dh suggestion.

MrsSethGecko · 01/01/2025 13:32

Packing to go home, been in the Highlands with the child and the dog and some family. Weather has been horrific. Still had a nice Christmas though.

RachelCarew · 01/01/2025 13:32

Not really @TheWernethWife . Freedom to choose what you want to do in your own home rules.

I do leave one tree up and I do go to church/hold Christian beliefs. I find it odd that people quote Epiphany on here (defo not IRL IME) as a date to take your decs down when the majority of the British population do not hold religious beliefs.

JM88Jen · 01/01/2025 13:33

Just at home. Our car has something wrong with it again 😩 so not risking it. Getting the new games for Christmas out, playing Just dance etc. Making a normal chicken dinner and defrosting the last desserts.
Probably quite an early night after watching the new Traitors tonight!

ForeveraBluebird · 01/01/2025 13:35

Having a coffee before heading off to watch the football, keep thinking it’s Saturday.

ohyesido · 01/01/2025 13:37

Lying on my couch listening to the rain. I had a broken night's sleep as I had my grandson aged 3 months to stay overnight.

How I loved spending time with him but good heavens I forgot how challenging newborns are. But seeing him gaze up at me with his big inquisitive eyes at 4am was so special.

Me too, the lights bring a lovely warmth to the room. My tree and lights won't be coming down until after the 6th.

ssd · 01/01/2025 13:41

I hate my living room when the tree comes down

Mrscharlieeeee · 01/01/2025 13:44

DH has just gone to pick up McDonalds ha ha. Later we're doing chicken montonara (I think that's what it's called) and watching Twisters. I made a start on the decs yesterday so just have the living room tree to take down now and the outside lights. Need to take the dog out at some point although she's currently snoring in my lap so doesn't seem overly bothered we've not been yet.

I also have a tab open on my tablet looking at deals with British airways, tempted by a cheeky week in Florida for May.

Mrscharlieeeee · 01/01/2025 13:46

Kids are also still in PJ's, can't see them getting dressed if I'm honest.
