To think that the sausages won’t poison us!

Unbelievably, this has turned into a proper argument … DSis has a party this evening and I’m on sausage duty (never again). Bought truckloads of fresh butcher ones which were sat in the car boot for 2 hours and 10mins (exactly!) as traffic was terrible. They were still cold when I got to hers.

DSis is convinced that everyone will be poisoned and won’t cook them, wants me to go out for more. They cost £20!
AIBU to think that she is being ridiculous and they’re fine to eat?

Oh not again, tell your sister she is nuts.

Tell you sister she's a very silly sausage. It's bloody cold outside and the car boot was as good a place as any - unless you live in Australia or the tropics. I assume she doesn't cook much or run a family home?

I bought some from a farmer’s market just before Christmas at about 10 am. I wasn’t going to be home until 5ish so checked with the seller that they’d be ok in the car and she said absolutely fine. They were delicious and none of us were sick

Talking of sausage... would you eat stuffing from Christmas that's been in a Tupperware dish in the fridge for a week?

Personally yes and I have already had some sausage stuffing from last Wed today but I made it myself and keep my fridge very cold so it all depends! I will eat the last of it tomorrow, still have some bread stuffing too, tomorrows sandwich will be ham/stuffing/cranberry sauce 😁

Ahhh you all are brilliant! I know it’s a very minor problem but this is Mumsnet at its best, thanks to each of you who replied.

We were in stitches with all of your comments which said it so much better than I could. Crisis averted, sausages being marinated and all on speaking terms. Happy New Year all!!

The most dangerous thing about sausages is not cooking them through, I always finish them in the oven even if BBQd to make sure. I'm sure yours will be fine.

Scutterbug · 31/12/2024 17:21

They will be fine. Take them home and freeze them!!
