I cannot believe that this lad is going to spend a year in prison- yes, I know that’s the law there, he should have known better etc, etc
I hope that the girl’s mother is ashamed of her actions.
I don’t want to think what the impact will be on Marcus 😥

There was a fairly long thread on this. The comments were as expected.

It is sad and I do feel for the kid.

The girl’s mother is an awful human.

MangoBathSalts · 30/12/2024 12:16

The girls mother is beyond awful. She doesn’t deserve to be a mother.

I hope she gets outed and gets what she deserves

Beginningtolookalot · 30/12/2024 12:19

I also feel concerned for the young girl who is presumably living with this mother .

itsmylife7 · 30/12/2024 12:21

God just read this story.
Poor young man and his family.

Jifmicroliquid · 30/12/2024 12:23

Poor lad.
I hope he comes out of this ok.

I hope he comes out of this ok.

He won’t though. There’s no way he can come out of this “ok”.

even if he manages to survive a year in a Dubai jail, he now has a conviction and prison sentence on his record. For sex with a “minor” at that.

massive knock on for his future career, jobs, travel, his whole life will be defined by this.

TwistedWonder · 30/12/2024 12:27

The mothers a vile vindictive cow who snooped through her daughters private messages, invented a violent forced rape report against him once they were safely back in the UK and won’t have a seconds remorse for what she’d done just he side her little princess dared to have sex.

Let’s be honest here, his biggest crime in the mothers eyes is that he’s guilty of being black.

I think that Dubai cannot have it both ways. Yes they can set the laws they wish but the UK government should slap a warning on any holiday adverts etc - "This country has extreme religious laws and you are at risk visiting unless you fully understand and accept these"
Like on cigarettes and alcohol.
The family who have lost their son for a year were hardworking good people who wanted a luxury holiday and had no idea this was the situation.
If these countries have these brutal laws we need to be very very clear with British holiday makers.
And shame on David Lammy for doing NOTHING to help his constituent - too keen on the oil money eh David?

I do think much of the issue is the spin on Dubai as a destination is very much “yes they have harsh laws but as a western tourist they are relaxed” and it’s ok if you’re a lesbian/unmarried/drink alcohol/wear a bikini and generally behave like a westerner out there. Dubai itself is encouraging that view.

on here we get posters saying those who won’t go because of the harsh laws and slavery that it’s not like that, they live there, and have a luxurious life with cleaners, housekeepers etc, in their western compounds.

This is such an upsetting case. It’s really really got me. It reminds me of America’s lynching of young black men who dared show or reciprocate interest from a white woman. Before anyone jumps on - I am not suggesting it has any of the violence of this.

I wish we could name and shame the vindictive woman. She’s the only one to have committed a crime in destroying this boy’s life. His poor parents, I cannot even imagine.

LlynTegid · 30/12/2024 13:22

My criticism is for both of them for going there on holiday to begin with.

Her name and the daughters name plus photos are out there on SM

They're British Indian not white but I do believe there’s a racist and classist angle to the mother’s actions.

I agree about warnings on adverts- if certain relationships are illegal in a country, that is reporting something factual. Or even 'check local laws and customs before you go, the UK embassy may not be able to help you'.

Man breaks law in another country gets locked up. Thats justice next 🙄

If the girl's mother hadn't reported him, nothing would have happened. It is clear she had an agenda. I feel sorry for the girl as well as Marcus.

So you disagree with some one who reported a crime?

The OP is posting because they are upset a criminal was charged for breaking the law of that country. If you dont want to follow that law of a country do not go or do not break the law, its as simple as that, his actions had consequences and he needs to face up to them.

How many posters on here who are shocked and defending him have also been posting or complaining about all the other people over the years that have been conviced of exatly the same in that county? Im looking really hard but I cant see a single one.

I don’t think this is all that outlandish a comparison tbh.

Although you say it’s not violent I do think weaponising a country’s legal system in this manner to keep the evil black boy away from
your delicate brown daughter is very much the same mindset as behind those who lied to initiate a lynching.

Fair point, but he is a very young man who probably assumed the age of consent is as it is in the UK. Do you really think the mother reported the crime in good faith? If she had been a resident of Dubai, than fair enough.

A question for you @nogginatemycat : if you were on holiday in Dubai with two male friends, would you report them to the Dubai authorities if you discovered they were having sex together?

The mother did not report it because she was concerned about law breaking. She did it to keep a black boy away from her daughter.

And she must have gone to some lengths to find a way to do that as in their home country their relationship was perfectly legal.

Hoppinggreen · 30/12/2024 13:53

He committed a crime, someone reported him and now he's in jail for said crime.
Those are the facts
People really need to realise that other countries aren't The UK but hotter.
I DO feel for this young man and his family, with a son not much younger myself I can empathise but if anything good can come out of this its awareness that people need to familiarise themselves with the laws of the countries they are visiting and stick to them.

She also originally claimed her daughter was forcefully raped without consent - both the daughter and Markus confirmed it was consensual and CCTV footage backed up their version and proved the mother was lying so why is she not being arrested for making a false allegation?

The mother is a vile vindictive spiteful cow with a race and class agenda - imo

If you were on holiday in Dubai with your son and (assuming your son is over 16) he had sex with another boy would you report the other boy to the Dubai authorities when you got back to the UK?

Yes, and the dreadful mother also waited until they were back in the UK to report it, because her daughter would have been in the shit as well. Just awful.

Let me redirect that question back to you if you want to play hypothetical situations.

Question for you, if you had friends a male (18) and female (14) from say Brazil or Colombia and they had sex in the UK would you report them to the UK authorities?

Would you condem them or defend them as its legal where they are from? 🤔
