Small party kids adults games. Usually in bed so this makes a change

It's my birthday so it'll be a special meal and some friends round to celebrate.

Champagne at midnight

Tanfastic · 29/12/2024 23:32

Nothing. I'm working NYE day and the fireworks really upset the dog so it will be a night in watching tv.

@Nikitaspearlearring I mean...yes, maybe?! I don't really understand why you would just be killing time around people you're supposed to like. My friends have supported me through huge highs and huge highs, across all aspects of life, and I value spending time with them in all capacities. I find it quite sad you just see it as a tick box exercise (or at least you describe it as a tick box exercise)

Yes, I understand. It's funny, I was with friends for a meal last night and although it was OK I couldn't wait to get away. It's all too much effort, and worry about saying the wrong thing. I think I'm ND. But some of the ideas on here do sound great ( going into town for a meal and cocktails, back home at 9pm). Perhaps I'm like Maggie Smith's character in Downton - she said she doesn't like her friends!

Oh my goodness, I am the biggest Hogmanay grinch! Living in Edinburgh is wasted on me Grin
I'm generally a good-natured character and I adore Christmas. But New Year leaves me cold. I have no idea why I feel this way about it, but I very much do!

We usually host a party with a few friends and their dc but last year, one dc in the group was awful to my dd1 and made her cry. She insulted me saying a book I liked wasn’t academic enough for her, then teased dd about how easy GCSEs are and dd getting stressed must mean she’s thick. Dd1 did GCSEs last summer (and did well) and the other dc is a year younger. I’m not putting dd through that again because she is the most wonderful, funny, kind dd I could wish for. So we are not hosting and instead going to a pub.

Me too!
