Not outrageously priced but great quality bedding?

Posting for traffic! You lovely mumsnet lot seem to always be in the know with these things!

Me and DH would like to treat ourselves to some new bedding. We want to buy a new 6ft duvet and also some lovely great quality bedding to go on it, that can preferably be tumble dried (but will settle without it). What sites are worth checking out? Any good sales on? I haven't shopped for this in years so would appreciate any suggestions!

Just Linen website is worth a look for bargains on expensive bedding

ThimbleT · 28/12/2024 22:46

Bedeck.

I bought a couple of 100% linen sets from H&M of all places about five years ago in the sales, and it still looks great (and it gets used a lot). Highly recommend Smile

Need one also

Baital · 28/12/2024 23:08

Still happy with my John Lewis down duvet of 20+ years ago.

And M&S 100% cotton bedlinen. Have to replace the fitted sheets at 3-4 years when they wore through, but the pillow cases and duvet cover have lasted 7 years now and are still in good shape and feel great.

John Lewis own are nice

Pumpkintopf · 28/12/2024 23:21

We have soak & sleep. Lovely, washes well.

ToBeOrNotToBee · 28/12/2024 23:46

My Very 400tc bedding has lasted many many washes and is in a better shape than my 400tc set from Next.

I like the M&S comfortably cool for summer, it's quite silky feeling, very smooth and is washing and wearing well
Currently under a joe browns brushed cotton which is also lasting well
Depends on budget really!

fivebyfivebuffy · 29/12/2024 00:25

I forgot la redoute, I've had some great bedding from there

TKMaxx - bargainest high quality bedding and some gorgeous designs. Although you do have the usual scrummage and can't be sure what you'll find in there of course...

Yes, I always go to TK Maxx. You can get some amazing quality stuff at low prices. Probably only worth going if you have a store near you, as you may or may not find what you want on any given visit. It's hit and miss.

Lovelysummerdays · 29/12/2024 01:14

QVC does some decent deals. I got a king size set 400 tc including sheet etc for £120 it’s washed really well too.

cherish123 · 29/12/2024 01:19

White Company - especially in the sales.

scrivette · 29/12/2024 07:51

White Company - they should have some in their current sale.

Caspianberg · 29/12/2024 07:54

King of cotton for bedding

Baavet for wool duvet

We had the White company, but after about 3 years the fabric literally started shredding it went so thin.

King of cotton is used by a lot of high end hotel chains so it’s stands up well to hot washes and a lot of washing. We have the 400tc but they do higher

dudsville · 29/12/2024 08:02

I really like the feel and pattern designs of Orla Kiely bedding.

Ginmonkeyagain · 29/12/2024 08:48

I'm a big fan of IKEA's cotton duvet covers. They are comfortable and wash well. They last for years and wash down to a beautiful softness.

Callingallbutterflies · 29/12/2024 09:19

La Redoute is great. Often 40% or more sales on. The choice for 100% cotton is amazing. Quality is generally great, washes well and some can be tumbled. They sell 100% linen duvet covers that are brilliant. Linen is my favourite for all year round. I go to IKEA for fitted cotton sheets and Tk Maxx for surprise bargains including duvets.

PeppyGreenFinch · 29/12/2024 09:42

I’ve had bedding from Sheridan, Dorma, M&S Autograph and all have been great.

But I have to say my favourite sets at the moment are from Primark.

I got two 100% king size cotton sets in the sale £10 each 3 years ago and they are amazing. Soft and wash incredibly well, no bobbling, no rips.

The quality is just as good as Sheridan’s.

FannyCann · 29/12/2024 10:03

I absolutely love LinenBundle. So silky. Washes and irons well.
You may not like to hear it but bed linen is so much nicer when ironed.
All my life I had white sheets and duvet covers then discovered I like patterned ones and now I'm a total convert and have several in different patterns.

Also buy a duvet a size bigger than your bed, eg kind size duvet for double bed. Saves duvet arguments when you roll over.

Not outrageously priced but great quality bedding?
CrotchetyQuaver · 29/12/2024 10:59

M&S
John Lewis
Dunelm
Personally I prefer poly cotton or cotton jersey as I can't be doing with the faff of ironing 100% cotton kingsize duvet covers especially brushed cotton ones and I can't bear the wrinkled look after they come out of the dryer if I don't iron.

JoyousPinkPeer · 29/12/2024 11:24

Marks and spencer, Dorma, white company.

Siberian goose down duvet for me ... john lewis.

JoyousPinkPeer · 29/12/2024 11:25

deeahgwitch · 28/12/2024 19:41

But a bugger to iron though.

Get the seersucker bedding...non-iron
