‘D’ P farting while he’s prepping food

He’s in the kitchen chopping meat and just let out 2 enormous farts (and quite deliberately, not like there was nothing he do about it)- doesn’t care and doesn’t think it’s a big deal. He’s in the kitchen prepping food,
Am I being unreasonable to not want to eat with him now. I find when he does this sort of thing that it’s so disrespectful and just unpleasant.

I'm reading the comments out to my husband in a Jane Austin voice and we are both dying of hysterics!!

"Absolutely dizGAHSTINng!"

daisychain01 · 26/12/2024 20:10

It's significantly more ewww starting a thread about it than it is letting one out.

I disagree.

MissMoan · 26/12/2024 22:30

@Easipeelerie I wouldn't like it, there's a time and a place, and in the kitchen while prepping food is not it 😂

Literally 😂😂

God if I sent my husband outside every time he needed to fart the poor sod would have to set himself up a little living area in the shed

bagpuss90 · 26/12/2024 22:37

Don’t think anyone ever got sick from someone else’s fart

Easipeelerie · 26/12/2024 22:38

TitaniasAss · 26/12/2024 21:23

Maybe you should get a special farting booth OP? A place where one can go and let rip without judgement. 🤣

You’ve hit the nail on the head. That is what’s required.

It's just farting, it's not like it's going to do any harm to your food 😂 this wouldn't bother me. DH occasionally lets off a really wiffy one in his sleep which creeps out from under the duvet and this makes me irrationally annoyed even though he's obviously not doing it on purpose!

Iamacatslave · 26/12/2024 22:57

Blame it on the sprouts.

Never in the kitchen prepping food. Whether or not it harms the food, I just find it offensive.

I bet you do fart in reality. If you were in the middle of something that would spoil if you abandoned it, I suspect the reality is that you would let a fart go without really noticing.

BettyBardMacDonald · 26/12/2024 21:52

It's called "outdoors."

Honestly I am 61 and have never heard any of my lovers do that, in 40-plus years. Nor they, me. Never in my family growing up, either. My parents weren't that type.

Is it really so difficult to be couth?

Loving the image of you and a succession of lovers dutifully charging outdoors to fart, irrespective of the weather.

I could never be sexually attracted to someone who does this.

grizzlygrump · 26/12/2024 20:13

I’d find that so off putting. I just don’t want to hear other people’s farts or burps or whatever, just go to the bathroom. I don’t think I am clutching at my pearls, I just think it’s basic courtesy to the people around you.

Go to the bathroom 😂We have a chair in my hallway so I can accompany my husband to the toilet and have somewhere to sit while we have a long chat, this is a good reminder that some people are living very different lives to me 😂

He's asleep 🤣 how do you know you don't let off smelly ones in your sleep?! We've been married 35 years and he's absolutely lovely - he's seen me through much worse things than a nocturnal fart and still finds me attractive!

valentinka31 · 26/12/2024 23:31

really, if he can't just relax at home then where can he?

BlueSilverCats · 26/12/2024 23:33

Using the word lover gives me the ick more than farting.

OlympicsRock2 · 26/12/2024 23:34

You are being incredibly precious

mathanxiety · 26/12/2024 23:38

You know the food he was preparing was all going to end up as poo eventually, right? And probably loudly announce its imminent departure for the coast before it left the station?

pennyHD · 26/12/2024 23:43

It's preparing. Not 'prepping'

ManchesterLu · 26/12/2024 23:43

Sorry but the number of people who get worked up about farting is seriously weird. It's just wind. You do it, if it's loud you say excuse me.

Some people on MN really are uptight

valentinka31 · 26/12/2024 23:31

Many people can relax without emitting offensive flatulence.

When did "relaxing" come to equal "zero effort or consideration for others"???

Sharptonguedwoman · 26/12/2024 23:48

mrstinsle · 26/12/2024 20:06

You find farting offensive? You really need to get a grip.

Well, I would think the farther needs to get more of a grip, literally. It’s certainly not polite and I would expect an ‘excuse me’,

Mooetenchante · 26/12/2024 23:52

Its not great but as long as there's no follow through, not too much of an issue.

Easipeelerie · 26/12/2024 23:53

How do you know we’re not preppers, and he was farting all over my emergency supplies?

The thing is, I wasn’t to know if there was follow through or not. It sounded like there could have been.
