If it was you?

Not expect as in, he has to be home a certain time, but 5.30 now and still not back..,almost 6 hours at a work lunch 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s a 10 minute drive away

Ok what’s the underlying issue here?

DumplingsMakeMeSmile · 23/12/2024 17:43

Drinking, taxi back

In that case just after pub closing time or even later if there are late night bars or clubs around.

Just watch a movie and go to bed.

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 23/12/2024 17:43

2am ?

Lightswontstopflashing · 23/12/2024 17:43

No underlying issues 😂

It’s just normally a dinner so is usually back after midnight, just curious about lunches, didn’t think to ask and he didn’t say

No time before 22:00.

B0RING · 23/12/2024 17:44

How long do you stay out for your work Christmas event / night out with the girls?

HellsBalls · 23/12/2024 17:45

It’s called an ‘all dayer’ for a reason.

whiteroseredrose · 23/12/2024 17:46

DH got home from his work lunch about 11pm.

GreenGrass28 · 23/12/2024 17:47

Around midnight? Works lunch things usually turn into a full scale drinks night. Quite a bit of pressure not to leave too early usually.

bluebee17 · 23/12/2024 17:47

If he drinking not until at least midnight.

doodleschnoodle · 23/12/2024 17:48

Midnight I would say! Our work do started at 2, I went out at 1 and got last train home at 10:30 or I would have stayed a bit longer. Really could be any time from now till kicking out time!

dapsnotplimsolls · 23/12/2024 17:49

Don't wait up.

NavyNorris · 23/12/2024 17:49

I'd expect my husband back quite late. He always texts me to say if he's going to be really late as I usually wait up unless he is out very late. Has he text you with a rough ETA?

Itisjustmyopinion · 23/12/2024 17:49

At least midnight maybe later based on both my own experience and DH’s. Lunch for a few hours and then pub crawl

Usually end up in the cheesy nightclub which tends to be full of work nights out at this time of year

2chocolateoranges · 23/12/2024 17:49

It’s Christmas so I’d expect him home at shutting time!

NoNoNona · 23/12/2024 17:51

Midnight, earliest.

Cynic17 · 23/12/2024 17:51

Well, hopefully he'll be in a taxi, rather than driving himself.
But I'd expect him home when he's ready as, presumably, the party will have moved on somewhere else.

AngelontopoftheTree · 23/12/2024 17:51

If he's not drinking and is driving then around 6pm. If drinking and getting a taxi then after 10pm.

HappyDartsmas · 23/12/2024 17:51

12ish if he wasn't back when I woke up the next day I'd text him

WhoopsNow · 23/12/2024 17:52

I'd go about my business and leave him be. It's a once a year event. I wouldn't expect him home before midnight if that.

Notimeforaname · 23/12/2024 17:52

I expect him to be back whenever he wants. Unless you've made other plans for the evening?

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 23/12/2024 17:52

What time does he normally come home?

natwalesrug · 23/12/2024 17:53

Midnight ish.

JockTamsonsBairns · 23/12/2024 17:56

Depends on different factors I think?

When my DCs were little, I wouldn't have 'expected' him back at a set time - but I would have liked to have been kept in the loop as to whether it was just lunch/an all dayer?

Nowadays, we've got older teens, so nobody has to be up 'parenting' as such, so I wouldn't be particularly bothered.
In saying that, DH and I are in our 50s, and live very rurally - there aren't many options for going on to a later venue, and we're not as good at "all-dayers" as we were 20 years ago!

flower1677 · 23/12/2024 17:56

My husband is also out today for Christmas lunch and currently not back. I was looking forward to some alone time with the kids but my FIL has showed up so there's that out the window 🤣. I'll let you know when he is home so we can compare Christmas lunch timings
