I lied about my past to my partner about who I had been with before him but eventually I did the right thing and told him the truth and spent months trying to build the trust back, but now asking me to do a lie detector test to prove to him I never slept with anyone at the beginning of our relationship when we was seeing eaxorher even though I never gave him any doubt as I was putting innall the effort to be withbhim and because of how persistent I was we became official but becsyee u said no to the test that I actually want him to trust me he has left me

She means that the Jeremy Kyle show used to do lie detectors. That’s all. I mean, it can’t have been a comment on your many posts about your chequered life.

Gallowayan · 22/12/2024 17:51

There is no such thing as a lie detector test, so you cannot pass or fail one. This is why they are not admissible as evidence. Police in the US use them as a prop to manipulate people they are questioning and they were used on Jeremy Kyle to create drama.

StrawberryWater · 22/12/2024 17:55

Who you slept with before him is none of his bloody business.

Tell him to bog off.

Should you have lied? No, you should just have told him it's none of his bloody business.

As for lie detector tests. They're about as useful as a chocolate teapot.

Planesmistakenforstars · 22/12/2024 18:07

Who you slept with before him is none of his business whatsoever. He sounds weirdly jealous and paranoid, so you're better off rid of him. You know this would never end don't you? He will just create more hoops for you to jump through to "prove" yourself. Don't fall into that shit.

Chowtime · 22/12/2024 18:10

Tell him you will. Where the fuck is he gonna get a lie detector from.

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 22/12/2024 18:12

Tell him to grow up

Amba1998 · 22/12/2024 18:13

this guy sounds like a walking red flag

who you were with before him is none of his business. Sounds like this will be the first of many things he won’t believe you on. Bin him

There's a bucket of punctuation available if you fancy a lucky dip.

Otherwise I'm taking Things That Didn't Happen for 10 please Bob.

Gem359 · 22/12/2024 18:23

Bin this one off as way too hard work. Be honest in future. If you don't want to discuss something for whatever reason then be clear about that.

supersop60 · 22/12/2024 18:24

When I was 20 I started seeing a guy 11 years older than me. (Church/family friend, so no objections from parents).
It was fine at first until he asked me about previous partners. Being young and naiive, I told him.
He then used that information as a verbal stick to beat me with for ages afterwards.
I wish I'd had the knowledge/experience/boundaries to tell him it was none of his business.
OP - forget him, he's a dick. Don't waste any more of your time.

Police in the UK also use them.

Reetpetitenot · 22/12/2024 18:28

Did he aye?

buttonousmaximous · 22/12/2024 18:30

I'm guessing you didn't tell him because you didn't feel comfortable doing so. And you were right to be cautious. His reaction is appalling he has no right to judge you. Based on his reaction I'd reconsider the relationship

steff13 · 22/12/2024 18:27

Police in the UK also use them.

Only a handful of forces use them and they are inadmissible in court.

ItOnlyTakesTwoMinutes · 22/12/2024 18:31

What did you lie about?

What a horrible experience you had! I’ve had that chat with partners, it’s never turned out like that.

parietal · 22/12/2024 18:36

Lie detector tests are unscientific nonsense. They detect if you are stressed, but some honest people can be stressed when answering questions honestly and some cold hearted liars don't get stressed by anything.

Refuse to take any test. If boyfriend doesn't trust you, dump him.

Hoppinggreen · 22/12/2024 18:50

I reckon I could totally pass one while lying like a cheap rug
OP, tell him to F off

livingafulllife · 22/12/2024 19:07

What you have done who you have been with before you met him has nothing to do with him.
Your past has fuck all to do with him he was not in the pitcher.
Bin him off end of.

PenisWine · 22/12/2024 19:25

Is this that same poster again?

Thevelvelletes · 22/12/2024 19:35

Surmising you could get a private test ... what would the nut job do with the information more so if it wasn't to his liking?
