To ask if you're wearing makeup today?

It's my pre-Xmas pamper day today - I've got a hairdressers appointment at 11, then popping to get my upper lip waxed (glam!) then going to get a pedicure. I'm unusually barefaced and look wrecked after a long, stressful month at work Grin

DD17 has just asked me if I'm putting makeup on before I go out and when I said no I got an eyebrow lift!

Are you a bare faced beauty (or, like me, beast) today or AIBU and should go and put my face on before I scare any small children... ?

No make up, I usually put a bit of make-up when going into the office (mainly lipstick). I am just back from parkrun not long ago.

ScupperedbytheSea · 21/12/2024 11:45

I'm barefaced 70% of the time, and lightish make up 30% of time (usually if I go into the office or out).
I used to wear it less, but my perimenopause skin is a bit drab, so I do think it gives me a bit of a boost nowadays.
Wouldn't bother to run errands/go shopping etc.

Another who has totally changed my make up habits since covid. I wouldn't leave the house or even have a friend over without putting on at least some concealer and blusher pre the pandemic. Mainly due to a lack of confidence where I have melasma patches that I hate, also chronic health conditions that make me look very pale and grey, blueish dark under eyes etc. so like death warmed up and imo obviously unwell looking (dh disagrees but probably just being nice).

After covid I just felt like I couldn't be bothered anymore, it was nice to be free of having to bother with it, seemed less important to me afterwards for some reason. I think it's because it was nice to have a break from worrying about make up / how I look to others, and as I'm getting older and in my 40's now I really am caring less what others think at last.

If I'm going out to socialise and I'm not just popping to the shop or something then I'll put cc or bb cream on and come concealer over the melasma and under my eyes, a bit of blusher so I look less ill. Cba with eye make up these days so I just give my lashes a quick curl and put some clear mascara on. If I was going out for a nice dinner or special occasion I'd put a tiny bit of eyeliner on and some black mascara, but gone are the days of spending time on eyeshadow and winged eyeliner!

Dd is 14 and not that interested in make up, we both agree we don't like the feel on our faces but probably a sensory thing as both ND. She'd ask my why I was wearing make up rather than why I wasnt lol. I get that this is unusual for a lot of teen girls now though, all her friends are very into their makeup.

InfoSecInTheCity · 21/12/2024 12:24

No but I very rarely do. I WFH and also just can't be arsed. I sometimes fill in the patchy bits in my eyebrows when I remember to. I actually keep an eyebrow pencil in the car cup holder because I'm more likely to notice them when looking in the rear view mirror for some reason (keep some tweezers in the car too because that's also when I notice the rogue chin hairs).

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 21/12/2024 13:29

I always wear make up, not much but it's just part of my morning routine. Takes 5 minutes to put on... and makes me feel 10 times better.

TheChosenTwo · 21/12/2024 13:32

I am. Because I didn’t take it off last night when I got home and am still feeling too delicate to change that 😂
just some eyeliner and mascara which have both remained exactly as they were when I applied them so shout out to rare beauty liquid liner and Mac stack mascara 😂
im going to have a bath in a minute and I won’t be wearing makeup for the remainder of the day or probably year.

familyissues12345 · 21/12/2024 13:37

I have a tiny bit of mascara on, I don't generally wear loads of make up anyway, so mascara and blush are my go to

MammaTo · 21/12/2024 14:12

Yes, I tend to wear it most weekends. Work from home full time so I don’t bother mid week, unless I’m in the office or going out for a meal. Have got 2 Christmas gatherings today so hair and make up is done and then Christmas prep eg tint eye brows, nails, hair blow dry tomorrow. It makes me feel a bit glam and nice for the festive period.

LoafofSellotape · 21/12/2024 14:15

Yes, I always wear make up- foundation, eyeliner, mascara, blusher lippy and a swoosh of powder. Takes 3 mins,I just see it as part of getting dressed.

Mydogisamassivetwat · 21/12/2024 14:19

I never wear it as I can’t be arsed.
i used to wear a bit of concealer as I have dark circles, but I fucked that off about a decade ago.

I do look like a corpse though. I wouldn’t recommend, but I’m just so fucking lazy.

I will add though that I never get invited anywhere and the pinnacle of my social life over the last two decades has been the odd Toby carvery, so I’ve not needed to look less like the crypt keeper.

poshfrock · 21/12/2024 14:21

Yes, foundation, blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, lipstick. I've just been out for lunch with friends but I would wear some most days even if just popping to the shops. I'm 53 and rarely leave the house without it.

TheEyesOfLucyJordon · 21/12/2024 14:26

No, I never wear makeup. It's just one more thing to slow me down.

Do I look ghastly? Yeah, probably but I can't see myself so precious few fucks to give 😚

unconditionalpurelove · 21/12/2024 14:27

No actually ha and I don't care

ToffeePennie · 21/12/2024 15:04

No. I should be because Christmas party, but nope no makeup. Mostly because I have damaged my back, ribs and knee falling over

TiramisuCheesecake · 21/12/2024 15:05

I think I last wore make up about 2017.

Natsku · 21/12/2024 15:07

No, but I never wear make up anyway. And I don't think I look terrible or anything without it, I'm happy with how I look.

LisaD1 · 21/12/2024 15:10

We are out for dinner this evening so I will put some on then. None on at the moment and often don’t wear any. Only wear minimal.

Namechangefordaughterevasion · 21/12/2024 15:14

I wasn't but after reading this I've put on some eyeliner and red lipstick.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 21/12/2024 15:17

Yes, I always wear make-up, but pretty natural look. BB cream, concealer, blush, a bit of powder and lipstick. I started wearing foundation as a teen, due to bad skin and at 53 have never kicked the habit. I have pale, slightly yellow-toned skin and look very washed-out and tired without it.

Jk987 · 21/12/2024 15:18

Yes, always some under eye concealer, powder, blush, bit of eyeliner, lip colour and mascara.

More when I'm going to the office or out for drinks.

Sounds a lot when written down!

MissCalamity · 21/12/2024 15:20

Well, sort of. I still had last night's make up on as well 🙈

notnorman · 21/12/2024 15:29

I never wore make up but now I do every day. Thinks it's just habit now. And I've practised so more skilled.

mikado1 · 21/12/2024 15:30

I have discovered Erborian CC cream and it's amazing for a natural look and feels moisturising - goes on as white cream but changes when it hits the skin. So I have that, mascara and one of those boots chunky crayon type lip colours. I don't always wear makeup but feel better if I do so I think Erborian means I'll now wear every day.

henlake7 · 21/12/2024 15:34

Not today. Saturday is my pampering day when I treat myself to hair and face masks and generally titivate myself. Plus I think its nice to have a make up free day in the week (even though I really like wearing it!).
Im only doing the housework and walking the dogs today so its a chill day.

DonaldJohnTrump · 21/12/2024 15:36

No, not today. I am naturally bright orange.
Well, my head is anyway.
