Meeting three friends for dinner, one of them has fallen out with me but I thought things were now ok.

She’s arranged to meet the other two before our meeting place. I feel like just saying I’m too ill to go out.

OP posts:

Gatecrashermum · 20/12/2024 21:03

How old are you all?

Why?

mumda · 20/12/2024 21:45

Agree that finding out whether they're friends or foe is essential.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 20/12/2024 21:49

ICantBelieveItsNotButtercunt · 20/12/2024 21:39

Why?

Because they sound like children?

Hadalifeonce · 20/12/2024 21:50

Are you saying that on the group chat, which you are seemingly part of, this friend has overtly invited your other friends to meet early? Or has it been put in the chat just to meet early, and you could join them?

CyranoDeBergerQuack · 20/12/2024 22:01

I thought schools had broken up for the holidays.

CyranoDeBergerQuack · 20/12/2024 22:05

ICantBelieveItsNotButtercunt · 20/12/2024 21:39

Why?

Because it sounds so terribly childish, that's why.

arinya · 20/12/2024 22:08

OP hasn’t been back for the last two pages of replies 🙄

People of all ages can behave in unkind ways. But it sounds like you’re accusing the OP of being childish, when actually it would be reasonable to be hurt if what she’s describing is the case.

Case in point. How old are you?

It sounds as though her friends are being unkind. I don’t think there’s an age limit for that. Suggesting the OP is childish though - that’s unkind. How old are you?

notatinydancer · 20/12/2024 22:19

Floods of tears ??

What has my age to do with my post.
Let's just say that I am old enough to have left childish games long ago.

Lucyaugust2007 · 20/12/2024 22:24

Some people never grow up.
I know people who I went to school with who still act the same as they did when they were at school.
I don't have the time or energy for it.

Well quite, but not sly comments intended to hurt?

janeavrilavril · 20/12/2024 22:27

She obviously wants to speak about you, get her side in. Just don't let it happen. Go in there and cut that off now.

Differentstarts · 20/12/2024 22:30

I wouldn't go can't be bothered with that crap since leaving school I'd rather a night in with my family

Pollypoppy · 20/12/2024 22:42

Grow up, have your meal and make your peace.

I suppose if OP can stop having feelings about hurtful behaviour, then she can ignore sly comments like this too? I’d tell you to grow up, but I suspect age isn’t the reason that you make these types of comments to strangers on the Internet.

It’s just all so dramatic, floods of tears? They should either go if they want to or don’t go if they would rather give it a miss but to be in floods of tears over this is an unusual reaction imo unless there’s an enormous back story OP hasn’t mentioned.

I see what you mean, but it’s just a turn of phrase.

My thoughts exactly

Sidebeforeself · 20/12/2024 23:04

Well that was a waste of our time!

I hope so too. But if not, I also hope that she distances herself and spends time with friends that don’t make her feel this way, because life is too short for not doing that as well.
