Special Christmas Day breakfast for kids

Usually they have cereals and/or toast with a piece of fruit. I want to do them something quick and easy but a bit special for Christmas Day breakfast. Dh and I usually have smoked salmon bagels but they don't like this.

Don't care if it's sugary or crap, it's Christmas! One is 13 the other is a preschooler so ideally something to suit both. Don't fancy frying bacon and cooking much but other suggestions welcome!

Pancakes?

Timetoread · 19/12/2024 23:16

Egg and dippy soldiers?

JC89 · 19/12/2024 23:17

Pancakes? We did American style ones with syrup, fruit and creme fraiche for my 4yo's birthday, he loved it!

Woahtherehoney · 19/12/2024 23:17

Pancakes - either homemade or shop ones. Set up a little topping station with sprinkles and cream and stuff.

WatchOutForBabyHaggis · 19/12/2024 23:17

Poptarts?

Dc will probably all have poptarts Christmas morning because they're getting then in their stockings 😂 All 3 of them love them equally (16, 14, 7).

BlackBean2023 · 19/12/2024 23:18

We have pastries, jam, Nutella, fruit and Buck's Fizz

Caffeineismydrug35 · 19/12/2024 23:18

My kids’ favourite is dippy egg and toast so I would do that or I would let the 13 year old choose.

biscuitsandbooks · 19/12/2024 23:18

Pancakes or waffles where they can pick their own toppings?

89redballoons · 19/12/2024 23:18

OK so it's still cereal, but in our house Father Christmas puts the mini packets of coco pops etc from variety packs in the kids' stockings. It goes down a treat.

I like a novelty shaped crumpet. You can often get Christmas trees at some supermarkets.

Christmaseason · 19/12/2024 23:19

bake at home pain au chocolate, chocolate croissants.

Scotch pancakes.

Radishknot · 19/12/2024 23:19

We buy frozen pastries and put them in the oven.
We do a special breakfast for them on Xmas eve, things like decorated porridge, tree shaped crumpets.

MrsBungle · 19/12/2024 23:19

My two have bake at home croissants with jam, Nutella, strawberries and raspberries and also those reindeer shaped crumpets!

Timetoread · 19/12/2024 23:20

Bagel with nutella or jam

OrwellianTimes · 19/12/2024 23:20

My very big DC (in their 20’s) loved the reindeer crumpets from Morrisons I bought last week.

nonkynink · 19/12/2024 23:22

Love the idea of fresh pastries with Nutella. Ds loves a packet pain au choc but a fancy one that goes in the oven would be even better. Little one could try a croissant!

I like smoked salmon on toast for Christmas morning, the kids break into their selection boxes /chocolate oranges/coins 😂

crumpet · 19/12/2024 23:25

Nigella’s Christmas morning muffins! Can do quite a bit of prep the night before and just bung them in the oven in the morning.

SquigglePigs · 19/12/2024 23:27

It'll be a pain au chocolat here for DD (she's 6).

MintTwirl · 19/12/2024 23:28

Jus Rol pain au chocolat are super easy and taste nice.

I tend to put something in their stockings for breakfast, things like pop tarts, those individual pots of lucky charms, the porridge pots that come in flavours like chocolate orange etc.

hulahooper2 · 19/12/2024 23:29

french toast or chocolate

UnNiddeRides · 19/12/2024 23:29

When I was young my mum made kedgeree the day before for breakfast on Christmas Day. I think with the aim of keeping us full until whatever time lunch happened.

EdnaTheWitch · 19/12/2024 23:29

Let them crack open their selection box!

Cableknitdreams · 19/12/2024 23:31

I've just bought a bag of those frozen mini croissants, a mix of pain au chocolat, pain au raisin and plain, which you put in the oven and bake for ten minutes.
