A large hotel local-ish to us (around 10 miles away) is currently closed for bookings as it is being occupied by just under 400 asylum seekers.

Recently, in our village and a couple of neighbouring ones, there has been a spate of parcels being stolen from doorsteps. I’m sure you can all work out who has taken the blame for this….! Even though one of the perpetrators is known to be a local lad, born and bred in our village, some people are still blaming others..

The comments on Facebook community groups are disgusting.

Since when has it been acceptable to so readily stick the blame upon those literally fleeing their countries?

I honestly feel that as a human race, we are devolving.

It's not racism to point out the facts of a situation.

Exactly, that's the point. Aside from these criminals, others may be an asset.

Then go to the US base in Qatar and get some that have been vetted by the US military, don’t just let whoever shows up on your shores unvetted, that is crazy tbh

…but they wouldn’t be seeking asylum?

Yes of course, all these men who see western women as sub human could definitely be an asset to us 🙄

Look at that they have been doing to not only the women in their own country but also western women across Europe.

Ignoring the fact that you're still banging on about women's safety after voting in a rapist, you're conflating several issues.

The thread is about people who are coming to the UK in small boats. They're not being invited in to work, they're claiming asylum.

It's not a 'fetish' to offer people asylum, we're compelled by law to help people. I understand that you don't believe in human rights, the rule of law and offering help but luckily others do.

Trump promised mass deportations, which will make my community back home safer. Kamala had said nothing useful on the issue.

This wasn’t a vote on who I was inviting to Thanksgiving dinner, it was on who I thought would make a positive impact on my life and personal circumstances.

If you cannot see the danger imposed by just allowing anyone into your country unvetted, then there is little point in discussing anything with you.

What must be done is to persuade those who are undecided and increase their political will to do something of substance to stop the boats.

Why are you so intent on following international law when it leads to more chaos and criminality in your country? Why sacrifice your community for the ‘greater good’? (When in fact, you are just making the UK worse off and not bettering any other country one iota).

You're lumping together every single man there with the same negative assumption.
The very definition of racism and othering.

So just women, then, not western women specifically?

Poetnojo · 23/12/2024 11:06

Not allowing women and education, to speak out loud in public, be in public with out a man, have a job etc etc, this is how they see that women should be treated, including western woman obviously. Does that not sound like they think women are sub human?

"They"
They're not all one big group lump of they!
They're people with their own minds, just like we all presumably are.
We don't all vote for the same party, or all believe in the same values. We all have our own opinions.
Just like they do.

British people are not the universal human. Other societies will have different beliefs and cultural attitudes.

You are incessantly talking about women's safety yet you voted for Trump who has been convicted of sexual assault and accused of countless rapes. He brags about assaulting women.

If you cannot see the danger imposed by just allowing anyone into your country unvetted, then there is little point in discussing anything with you.

We have a duty under international law to help people in our waters and to process their claims. If you can't understand that after being informed of it, countless times, then there's no point in discussing it with you.

What must be done is to persuade those who are undecided and increase their political will to do something of substance to stop the boats.

What do you suggest politicians do? It's already been explained to you, many times, that France won't accept asylum seekers back. It's also been explained to you, many times, that you can't send people back to where their lives are in danger.

We have laws and things called human rights which unfortunately for you, apply to everyone. The government will be taken to court if they try to send people back to be tortured or killed.

Why are you so intent on following international law when it leads to more chaos and criminality in your country?

What chaos and criminality? There's no evidence that asylum seekers have created chaos or a rise in criminality.

I never said they were?!

Other societies will have different beliefs and cultural attitudes
Yes, but my point was that not everyone is the same, not everyone holds the same beliefs and attitudes and that stands for everyone, regardless of their country, or cultural attitudes.
You don't just go around assuming everyone's the same, just because of their nationality, skin colour or sex.

So you’re saying that what is happening to women in Afghanistan is down to a few individual men rather than cultural and widespread attitude towards women?

Well that depends on what situation we're referring to - automatically jumping to 'it's racism' isn't helpful.

You originally said they see “western” women as sub human, implying that they are a specific threat to western women. You’ve since changed your stance.

So, just to be clear on your new stance, you think the people fleeing those countries are the ones who are upholding the policies in the countries they are feeling from?

Because it is men who create these attitudes and men who benefit from them.

Because the crime figures were allowed to see show these men have a higher proclivity for sex assaults.

Because women are being systematically raped in refugee camps by these men.
