A large hotel local-ish to us (around 10 miles away) is currently closed for bookings as it is being occupied by just under 400 asylum seekers.

Recently, in our village and a couple of neighbouring ones, there has been a spate of parcels being stolen from doorsteps. I’m sure you can all work out who has taken the blame for this….! Even though one of the perpetrators is known to be a local lad, born and bred in our village, some people are still blaming others..

The comments on Facebook community groups are disgusting.

Since when has it been acceptable to so readily stick the blame upon those literally fleeing their countries?

I honestly feel that as a human race, we are devolving.

This. Large groups of young men from countries that are known for mistreatment/suppression of women being dumped in small towns in a free, liberal society is worrying for women. It's not racist to think this. I'll put women's safety before worrying about being seen as racist.

Never had a problem with the asylum seekers near me - hundreds must have been moved through that accommodation, if not thousands. Not one single problem. I can give you a list as long as a runway of all the ways I've been negatively affected by white British men because I'm a woman.

Don’t you think people coming from countries with similar attitudes towards religion as the UK might find it easier to integrate here than people from highly religious countries?

Lots of these asylum seekers are put up at a 4 hotel where I live. Strangely not 1 female among them. I can't say I've heard crime has increased where I live though. What people complain about is the weddings that had been booked for months all got cancelled to accommodate these immigrants who were given mobile phones and money. We have local people who are homeless living on the streets even over the winter but they are not put up in 4 hotels and fed. This is why people get angry. Now we have found out recently the immigrants are receiving private health care while everybody else has to wait indefinitely on waiting lists for the NHS. People get angry because the immigrants are jumping waiting lists and receiving better treatment than our own citizens including a few ex service men living on the streets.

You have no idea of the freedoms you actually have, and how easily they can be snatched away.

There are bad men in all countries. But it is madness to pretend that a culture where women can very easily and socially acceptably, work, own property, vote, go out without a male family member, report a rape without being killed, are seen as human beings with human rights by the majority (because if they weren't then you wouldn't be living like this) is just 'as bad' as one where you cannot.

It is insulting to every woman and girl who actually had to live that life while you grew up in a utopia by comparison!

I never want to be in a country where a large amount of men think of me and my daughter as less than human again. I felt safe here. And it is very safe to see women if the UK inviting their own destruction.

This is what you get as an asylum seeker. No private healthcare, no mobile phones. Just £50 a week, housing and NHS care.

I am well aware of that, but we all already know how women are treated by men in the countries they are fleeing from and it is much worse than how western men treat women.

What are the similar attitudes? Our UK prisons are full of white, British men who have been convicted of murder, rape, paedophilia, assault, robbery, drug dealing. It isn't the case that a white British rapist or murderer has much better religious ideologies. I suspect maybe you just mean they aren't muslim, therefore are somewhat 'safer' or less than a threat?

How many of those who complain about migrants who come in small boats or unofficially are those who make the option more attractive. It is not just the English language that makes the UK attractive to many. You make it more attractive if you are taking illegal drugs, going to places and buying goods or services where people are paid cash in hand, having a fast food delivery instead of walking to the takeaway, for example.

The point about misogyny or worse in other countries being worse and more unofficial migrants being men is well made.

A lot of people use data to only show their own point. I doubt they would look deeply enough to make any distinctions between the group as a whole. It weakens the argument that they want to make.

No need to be confused, different people will have different perceptions. Some people prefer their neighbours to be primarily, or at least include people of the same or a similar race to themselves. Thats not a novel observation. Many of the incomers prefer to live in areas where they're not such a minority.
