I may be being unreasonable given that we've still got Christmas to go. I've just been hit with a wave of inspiration that very likely will die down by this evening

I'm also addicted to mumsnet 🤭

What do you want/need to work on in 2025? For me, i want to learn French and finally finish decorating my house.

I also want to practice being mysterious and less of an open book. I do have a tenancy to spill my lore to strangers irl as well as on mumsnet

If you've got time on your hands this afternoon, please do tell x

Less booze.
Get my new carpets I’ve been putting off this year.
Actually do the jobs on my 2024 to do list! (Mainly decorating and minor house jobs)

Lampzade · 20/12/2024 08:21

I have achieved practically everything I wanted to achieve this year. I have kept up with my French language lessons, continued with my fitness and introduced reformer Pilates and Callanetics, have taken some extra qualifications , travelled abroad by myself.
Next year I would like to start reading books again. I used to be a voracious reader and could sit down and read a book for hours.
Currently I can’t even manage fifteen minutes.
May start practising the piano again
I just want to take things easier next year

LaPalmaLlama · 20/12/2024 08:36

Get the roof, electrics and heating/ bathrooms done -we moved in October and there’s a lot of work to do and I’m kind of paralysed by fear of stuff going wrong or discovering other stuff that needs doing. This is kind of inevitable so I know I just need to start and face the music and teeth sucking by tradies.

Decide if I’m going back to employment or not ( currently freelancing for a single client but it’s increasingly sporadic as they have got a few new headcounts). If I am then do something about it. If not then embrace early retirement.

Get my GFA marathon time so I can do London 2026 which has been a long held ambition and will be 20 years since I ran it last. In reality this means running 10 mins under the published time so this is going to be quite an ask of my creaking and increasingly crepey body 🤣. However, I’m about to move up an age category so there will never be an easier time to do it for the next 5 years.

Stop buying books and read the ones I bought and havent read.

@Baileysandcream very best wishes for you on your goals. It's a hard slog!

Thank you so much. I've just seen that you're on meds too, it's tough isn't it?

I wish you all the best with your goals too, here's to us having a healthier, happier and less challenging 2025.

Keep going and keep smiling, we can do this !

Find a job in a nice team with less WFH
Eat healthier lunches
Cough up for dental work I really want
Start exercising again and be consistent with it
Go to the theatre as much as I can afford
Continue changing all my beauty and household products to cruelty free options

That reminds me. I went to the theatre for the first time in years last month and loved it so I'd like to go more too. Last minute ticket was only 7 euros too!

My aim is to feel more fulfilled. And like a previous comment, I'd like to live, rather than merely exist

I don't have a plan to achieve this, it's more of an ongoing adjustment.

Then I have aims that are due to situation. It's likey I will return to work this year , after being a sahm.

Had a quote of £1600 for stairs and landing carpet and one bedroom - have to rip up the current carpet myself and the underlay - salesman got shirty when I asked if I could use the current underlay and said that the carpet would have no warranty

Looking for other options 😬

Yes girl, 'life is for the living' is my mantra for 2025

Sounds like you don't want to go back to work - fingers crossed that, if you have to, it's a peaceful work place with a great culture for parents x

I want to start overpaying on my debts. I want to buy very little which is hard as I’ve gone down a couple of dress sizes so I’ll need some summer bits. Only purchase makeup, toiletries etc that run out. Eg. I have LOADS of different types of moisturiser. Only when they are all gone can I buy another.

I've got two books I want to finish by the end of the year - doubt it'll happen as my sole focus right now is stuffing my face 😫

Fingers crossed the work situation resolves itself for the best for you

I’m going to master how to make my own puff pastry.

Go abroad on holiday for the first time in 25 years.

make all my own cakes and biscuits and not buy anymore.

Design and knit pairs of socks which will fit my tiny feet perfectly.

Oo mastering your own puff pastry sounds good - even the chefs seem to advise buying it - i love baking as well

Get back into running...I'm booked in to do a 10k in March (haven't trained in months).

Get my husband out of the house. I thought I was being nice letting him stay for a bit after I told him our marriage is over but now I just want him gone!

To have a holiday on my own

Fingers crossed 2025 is the year of freedom for you

I want to be more assertive. I’ve realised recently that being a people pleaser and always wanting to be nice or smooth things over has led to people treating me like a bit of a doormat, in both my personal and professional life.

I won’t have it any more. I started yesterday. Pushed back against three people on separate occasions. And guess what, it resulted in them backing off or not answering back. Time to stop taking other people’s shit.

I'm with you 100% on this - i want to do exactly the same

You get nothing in this world being nice, unfortunately 😕

I do want a new focus.

I want a fun , interesting job with convenient hours , friendly colleagues and organised management. Then someone to pick up the load at home, while I haven't been there.

I doubt that will be the reality.
