I may be being unreasonable given that we've still got Christmas to go. I've just been hit with a wave of inspiration that very likely will die down by this evening

I'm also addicted to mumsnet 🤭

What do you want/need to work on in 2025? For me, i want to learn French and finally finish decorating my house.

I also want to practice being mysterious and less of an open book. I do have a tenancy to spill my lore to strangers irl as well as on mumsnet

If you've got time on your hands this afternoon, please do tell x

Get my salary to 50k ( I’m on 42k) and buy a house.

Get stronger...im only 45 & have struggled the last few months with sciatica it's awful. Need to move more, lose a bit of weight & work on my core

Cut back on alcohol a bit

Other than that I'm hoping for a year where all of our friends & family thrive. The last 2 years have been tough with losing close family members. I feel like we need a bit of good luck on that front.

TwinkleLights24 · 18/12/2024 18:09

I want to be as happy as I can be in 2025 and enjoy life more. I slipped into a bit of a rut of not doing anything fun so I want to change that.

I want to make my relationship a bit more of a priority again as I have slacked on the effort.

I want to look and feel good as vain as that sounds. Eating better, drinking more water, exercising and having regular beauty appointments.

My house is a new build blank canvas so I plan to paint each room and add lots of finishing touches. We did most of the garden this summer so there’s only a few things left to do outside.

The usual save money.

MissMarplesNiece · 18/12/2024 18:11

Find a part-time job
Engage more with the community where I live by volunteering in foodbank/community cafe
Spend more time in nature & walk in countryside more regularly
Find a way of strengthening my relationships with family & friends
Look after my health, this last couple of years I've got quite neglectful about caring for myself.

DilemmaDelilah · 18/12/2024 18:17

Finish the horrible cancer meds I am on - due to be completed in August and getting progressively more difficult as the side-effects get worse
Retire in July - 2 years too early to get my pension but I want to have some good retirement time with my husband
Try to get a bit fitter when I stop taking my meds and start to feel a bit better
Have more cheap little holidays when I stop taking my meds and start feeling a bit better
See more of my family when I stop taking my meds and start feeling a bit better

I think there may be a bit of a theme going here.....

Lentilweaver · 18/12/2024 18:19

Keep up strength training twice or thrice a week at the gym.
Declutter my house
Start a side hustle.
Make a few more good friends

beasmithwentworth · 18/12/2024 18:22

Lose exactly one stone.

After a year of drifting at work (I work on commission) I want to attack it head on and have a really good year

Not drink any alcohol (gave up in September)

Get new blinds for the living room (with said commission)

Do one new or scary thing a month. I have sorted Feb but need to plan Jan / the rest of my year.

24hrmilkbar · 18/12/2024 18:28

Hoping DH passes his driving test in January so we can get a 2nd bigger car, as little Aygo is not ideal with a toddler in tow.
Start TTC DC2
Finish painting our house, we still haven't finished painting after moving in December 2020! 😂

Nextpleasee · 18/12/2024 18:32

To leave teaching. It’s long overdue.

Cafecontribution · 18/12/2024 18:35

Really sort my fitness and diet out. I was doing so well this year then I broke my leg and just completely gave up on my fitness and diet.

ColourBlueColourPurple · 18/12/2024 18:45

Self development, in every way.

I share a toddler with my ex of over 10 years, who went from an absolutely lovely guy (or so I naively thought) to a sex/OLD obsessed, cruel, lying cheat who left me drowning in PND with a newborn. He then got with and impregnated a woman when our little one was only 11 months old. It completely destroyed me. I only now feel ready to resume normal life as I've spent the past almost 2 years in what has felt like survival mode.

I swore to myself that I would, one day, get back to the best version of myself and fuck him kind of thing, and now I feel that that time has come for me!

So, my goals going forward are -

Health and fitness. I've recently started working with a PT and am doing 2 x strength training per week plus 10k steps on most days when DC is at nursery. I plan to keep this up and begin to work on my nutrition.

Appearance. I really let myself go during pregnancy, in part due to his nonsense and feeling completely lost and unsupported. I ended up gaining around 2 stone, with hyperpigmentation all over my face. The greys are coming in thick and fast which I attribute to all the stress I've been under for the past couple of years. So I've ordered a few skincare items (tret, along with some k beauty serums/essences) and the current body LED mask. I've also booked myself in to the hairdressers for a good cut as I've not had one in god knows how long and my hair is quite ratty with split ends, as well as a colour. I'm going to keep this up every 3/4 months.

Mental health. I've been on antidepressants since my little one was born and have recently connected with a therapist who is great, however I think I have quite a lot of work to do, not only in regards to the stress I've been under the last couple of years, but childhood trauma. So I'm aiming to do 1/2 sessions a month, finances permitting. I also have a list of self help podcasts/audio books lined up on Spotify

Career. I'm starting a single masters module in Jan which will hopefully help with my career development and I can hopefully go on to complete the full masters at my own pace. I'm looking to go up the bandings (NHS), in quite a niche area, so this will hopefully assist.

So yes, quite a long list, however I'm feeling ready and motivated to fully engage in moving onwards and upwards.

Pickingmyselfup · 18/12/2024 18:54

I need to get back in the gym to build some muscle, run my first marathon and ideally run it sub 5 hours.

Complete my second and third half marathon quicker than my first.

Be more organised (every single year I say this but I'm still as scatty as ever!!)

Bookaholic73 · 18/12/2024 18:58

Lose about 7kg before my holiday in May.
I have no problem with exercise, I love it, but I have an outrageous sweet tooth that undoes all of my hard work at the gym.

lucysnowe2 · 18/12/2024 19:15

Finish writing my novel!

bridgetreilly · 18/12/2024 19:21

Main goal is to get to the bottom of why I am so exhausted all the time. I have made a doctors appointment for early January and I’m hoping to start getting some answers.

nadine90 · 18/12/2024 19:24

Lose weight
Learn to drive
Move house
Keep up with uni work.
It's gonna be a hard, but hopefully rewarding year!

Nel1234 · 18/12/2024 19:26

Maintain the weight loss I've achieved this year & go to bed earlier to get more sleep. I'm also going to try to not buy any new clothes - unless absolute essentials - to save money and also save me having to have a clear out as I'm running out of wardrobe & drawer space!!!!

creamsnugjumper · 18/12/2024 19:27

Sort out my health anxiety, start training again, find time for myself and be more selfish.

I've given my life to other people and I need to have a "me" year.

Thank you for posting this helped me think.

Oh and I'd like to keep a diary.

MyLoftySwan · 18/12/2024 19:29
  1. Get another year closer to 5 years cancer free
  1. Tackle driving anxiety
  1. Get some voluntary work as I have far too much time on my hands despite working part time.

Netrandom · 18/12/2024 16:45

A routine to save my MH. I’ve worked from home for the last 5 years and have barely left my 4 walls (except to do the school run)

today I quit, I start a part time job (10 hours a week) in the new year. So I plan to get a routine that will be healthier all round, mind body and soul.

I’m hoping to get myself up at the same time every day, have a shower, a coffee, take the kids to school then go for a walk, get some fresh air, come home and do a workout, make sure I eat regularly, stop snacking so much. Drink more water. Tidy one room every day.

I just need to pick myself up from rock bottom and that is my goal.

Wildywondrous · 18/12/2024 19:30

I've lost almost 5 stone which was the easy bit, I need to make sure I don't regain it.
I've always yoyo'ed with 3 stone and quit before reaching my goal but ended up at my heaviest ever so I went on Mounjaro to finally get it over and done with and go all the way to a healthy weight.

I'm feeling great sitting here in my size 12's when I was in a tight 18 last christmas and I'm determined not to throw my achievement away this time.
