I may be being unreasonable given that we've still got Christmas to go. I've just been hit with a wave of inspiration that very likely will die down by this evening

I'm also addicted to mumsnet 🤭

What do you want/need to work on in 2025? For me, i want to learn French and finally finish decorating my house.

I also want to practice being mysterious and less of an open book. I do have a tenancy to spill my lore to strangers irl as well as on mumsnet

If you've got time on your hands this afternoon, please do tell x

Continue to improve my fitness levels - add more strength training.
Lose another stone in weight. Drastically cut down on sugar.
Learn to read music again ( Who knew you forget if you don't do it for 40 years).
Learn a new instrument.
Do lot's to try to improve my teen's mental/social wellbeing and confidence (sneakily).
Continue all the good habits I've started this year, after taking early retirement. They've made the world of difference.
Learn to cook/bake
Learn to decorate.
Transform my garden
Pick up another voluntary role - thinking possibly Samaritans.
I intend to be busy 🤣

😄 I like it, i feel the same, there's lots i want to do next year

I also want to do my garden, it's embarrassing right now

Get back in to exercising, I miss it if I'm honest, I used to exercise 5 to 6 times a week and then stopped. Now I've lost 3 stones, I need to tone up and get stronger again.

Find my motivation to do the above and to just generally be more productive with my time rather than bumming about on here and Facebook!

Earn money again. I've been out of work since maternity leave/losing my job to covid. So either by finding a job or being savvy with vinted or something.

Stop watching tv in bed, very bad habit I've slipped back in to so I need to get some good books to read instead.

This could be me writing this - I'm currently in bed with dd watching emmerdale - she's had her dinner up here and is happily playing but she must be wondering why we're not downstairs

It's partly because it's the winter as well though, it's colder downstairs

Although I've never known someone to lose weight without exercising! I'll dread stepping on the scales after Christmas

I would really like to lose 3 stone and generally eat better, maybe ditch the Coke Zero.

Would be great to walk for an hour 3/4 times a week

I’m weighing up whether to retire but I’m only 56. I’m quite lazy so don’t think it would bother me much not working but just a big decision. Financially I can afford it. I wouldn’t pay any tax either or NI so my contribution to the country would be done until I get state pension. Not sure how I feel about that.

I say do it tbh 🤭 enjoy life

My main goals for 2025:

  1. Have a better work life balance
  2. Start my divorce
  3. Save money
  4. Eat healthy meals
  5. Don't be an open book

Are we sorry or happy about your divorce?

It's hard for us open book people, I've got to learn to be mysterious and sexy and aloof

To worry about ageing less as its better than the alternative

MyPithyPoster · 18/12/2024 19:40

Continue to grow the business
top up the pensions
2 holidays
new bathroom
new roof.
I think that’s enough

Finish the horrible cancer meds I am on - due to be completed in August and getting progressively more difficult as the side-effects get worse
Retire in July - 2 years too early to get my pension but I want to have some good retirement time with my husband
Try to get a bit fitter when I stop taking my meds and start to feel a bit better
Have more cheap little holidays when I stop taking my meds and start feeling a bit better
See more of my family when I stop taking my meds and start feeling a bit better

I think there may be a bit of a theme going here.....

Understandably a theme - wishing you the best of luck with these meds and that they do their job ❤️

Will you not get your pension at all or will you have to wait for two years to get it, sorry?

For me I think it’s learning to live rather than exist.

Ive kind of lost who I am these past 3 years and I don’t have a life apart from being mum and taxi. I’ve got anxious over going out even to the pictures or for a coffee as when I do I get constantly pestered by 14 yr old dd with her needs and drama or I have to rush back to do lifts for the kids. We dont have any other adult in our lives that is there to support or lean on so I get the brunt of it all.

i would like to lose my embarrassment and fear of doing things by myself and just go for that coffee or to the pics, a day trip to a big town and learning to say no too.

thats my new years goal

PhoenixReincarnated · 18/12/2024 19:55

To get my legs well enough to return to work.
To make healthier choices for meals
To start exercising when my legs are better - walking to start with then go from there.

Tbh I haven't thought about this until I saw this thread so I'll probably have a few more by the time 2025 starts.

Mathsbabe · 18/12/2024 20:07

In 2025 I am going to:
Lose 8 more kg
Average 7 hours a night sleep
Try more classes at the gym
Try using weights in the gym
Make lots of lace.

DilemmaDelilah · 18/12/2024 20:09

@MumOfOneAllAlone I just won't get my state pension for another 2 years after I retire. I work for the NHS so I did take one pension when I was 60 which I have been saving as much as I can from, but I won't get my state pension until July 2027 so we will be living off our savings and my NHS pension. I'm not very senior so that's not huge!

wotsitallfor · 18/12/2024 20:21

Find a job - contract ended end Oct and it's slim pickings
DH find a job - he finishes contract end Jan

Then we can start:
Book holidays
Think about moving house

Before that:
Declutter and make house lovely for as cheap as we can

Oh okay, i misunderstood, I was thinking you wouldn't get it at all

I believe you, your average NHS worker is underpaid 🥺 - i think it's a good idea to retire though, and just spend time recuperating and enjoying life, you bloody well deserve it x

Decorate/revamp our main bathroom!! It's been driving me mad for years so 2025 is the year it gets sorted out.
And continue on with gym/fitness and weight loss

Get stronger...im only 45 & have struggled the last few months with sciatica it's awful. Need to move more, lose a bit of weight & work on my core

Cut back on alcohol a bit

Other than that I'm hoping for a year where all of our friends & family thrive. The last 2 years have been tough with losing close family members. I feel like we need a bit of good luck on that front.

Sorry for your losses xx - yes I feel like 2025 is about thriving as well

God I’ve got loads, love this time of year - the inspo just hits me, every year without fail!! Love a brand new year.

My goals are mainly professional and outing but I’ve lately been compiling a few lists:
Just get done ASAP
2025 to-do
Before 40 goals (currently 35)
Family want-to-dos

abracadabra1980 · 18/12/2024 21:25

To stop saying "Ffs" at least 10 times a day in my head.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/12/2024 21:30

Lose some weight, I'd like to be 10.3, that will be around 21lbs to lose I think after Christmas

Run London marathon

Quit social media

Meet some friends and strengthen my social circles

Work on my driving anxiety

Stop drinking and cut out ultra processed food (doing whole 30 to start in Jan, I'll see how that goes)

Wordsmithery · 18/12/2024 22:59

Lose weight (started that journey already) and start wearing clothes I love rather than clothes that I can squeeze into. Counselling to come to terms with some difficult things. Listen to more music.

PerambulationFrustration · 18/12/2024 23:22

Mine are
Eat less sugar and carbs, more veg.
More regular exercise
Set up my website
I'm also thinking of writing a book.
Go to more places

MumOfOneAllAlone · 19/12/2024 17:19

I've got a really strong feeling that next year is a year of change for me, I've felt like it all day 🤭

Can't tell if it's the pre new year delusion or something real

Gonna deep clean my oven and finish my kitchen- I'm gonna paint the cabinets black and the walls a moody darkish grey

Get the garden sorted

Save some money to get my teeth sorted

Become my sexiest self 🤭

Lose 15kg. I’ve lost 5kg in the past few weeks, so feeling motivated.

Also I’d like to get engaged/married this year. No big fuss, just would like to have the legalities sorted out really.
