To be worried about what the Labour government will do next?

Scenicgirl · 17/12/2024 22:46

Let's be honest, Labour has been a massive disappointment for this country, pissing off the pensioners with taking away the WFA, the farmers, NI changes which impact employers, immigration etc and today refusing compensation to the WASPI women after they ridiculed the Conservatives when they didn't commit to a solution. Don't we deserve better than this constant shit show of lies and deceptions which were clearly spouted out purely to gain power?
For the 1st time in my life, I worry about where we are heading.

They've only been in power a few months. Expecting them to sort out this mess of a country in such a short space of time is just unrealistic. No, I am not worried and I've had no problem with everything they've done so far.

beetr00 · 18/12/2024 07:16

@Aduvetday

"What’s your point? Just more nonsense and deflection"

Insult and denigrate, my point, don't try to persuade to an alternative/your view, cute 🙂

Bettyboo111 · 18/12/2024 07:16

All they've done so far is a total of nothing.
The recession next.😂

Buzyizzy21 · 18/12/2024 07:17

Goodness me, you obviously don’t follow politics or you’d know everything they’ve achieved and set out already. They’ve done more for us in the first five months than the last self serving, corrupt rabble did in 14 years. Stop moaning and do your research.

Wond3747 · 18/12/2024 07:12

No Brexit caused it. We were the gateway to Europe, now we have no part in it. We were the financial centre and that changed hugely after Brexit.

Nope. I work for a global financial. Companies were waiting for the budget. Already had issues because of Brexit but if investment became problematic then companies were thinking of relocating to NYC. That is now exactly what is happening, at its fasted rate in a decade. Guess you don’t follow financial news.

Labour solely own this one now.

JadeScroller · 18/12/2024 07:18

A lot of us spent 15 years wondering what dangerous, degrading, ill-thought out, sleazy or illegal thing the tories would inflict on us next, so yes, I know what it’s like to live in huge fear of the decisions your government is making.

Firenzeflower · 18/12/2024 07:18

Will no one think of Jeremy Clarkson and James Dywon at this difficult time.
I genuinely think these posts are bots or AI Tufton street nut jobs.

User37482 · 18/12/2024 07:20

I’m expecting a recession, hiring has dropped. Also worried that borrowing is going to start getting expensive for the Uk, bond yields are up, lets see how far they can go eh.

Honestly I don’t know how anyone can think it’s going well. Tbf things do take time to feeds through, 5 months is a short time, I expect it will get much worse than it already looks.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 18/12/2024 07:21

Meh, it's all relative, isn't it? I mean, I don't think Labour have covered themselves in glory so far, but despite some missteps, they are infinitely better than what came before. And the country will eventually be better off for it.

However, with no money in the pot and the disaster that was Brexit still hampering growth, they aren't going to be able to fix years of tory mismanagement overnight. And they're going to have to make some decisions that will piss off some cohorts.

Do I think their record in office has been perfect to date? No. Do I think that they are wildly better than any of the alternatives that we were faced with? Yes I do.

Why, because you can't digest an opinion that differs from your own?

Report all the bot posts, they are troll hunting, they do generally get deleted

😂They really don’t as you well know.

It’s tragic Tory policies are coming home to roost. Companies are relocating because there is nothing to keep them here. They were leaving long before the budget ,you just don’t notice because it didn’t impact you. We are no longer the financial centre and gateway to Europe and that is all down to the Tories

SassK · 18/12/2024 07:23

Winter fuel payments delayed. Inflation up again. It's all rather depressing.

I was, and I remain, of the opinion that Sunak was the best option for the economy (going forward, rather than harking back to a period that included a lengthy pandemic).

RedHelenB · 18/12/2024 07:24

I'd sooner solar panels than the horrendous trucks with advertising that farmers put I their fields.

How much did the conservatives spunk up the wall on the Rwanda scheme? £700 million of taxpayers' money wasn't it?

intellectual discourse? I think not Richard

TizerorFizz · 18/12/2024 07:30

Liz Kendall still has a web site pledging to put right the outrage of the waspi women. So yesterday she turned volte face and decided she was wrong. It’s the realities of government instead of 6th form politics. Of course it’s electioneering to lie. Labour are no better than everyone else. Labour have not had a grown up honest approach. However people are easily duped.

Every commentator thinks they have been slow to get going and slow to recognise how pissed off the pensioners are that are just above pension credit level. Major own goal. It will define them.

Also earlier posters have forgotten that Gordon Broen didn’t win a general election as leader of the Labour Party either. People have short memories. He was anointed. We don’t have a PM general election. Blair was leader and PM when the 2005 election took place.

ChallahPlaiter · 18/12/2024 07:31

spuddy4 · 18/12/2024 05:04

Sunday the government announces £50 million for Syria, Tuesday it announces they can't pay the WASPI women because it's a burden on the taxpayer 😂

I've never seen a government piss off so many different groups of people just after they win an election. Of course you'll get the diehard supporters who will justify everything labour do as for the greater good but I can see the tide turning for many, I live in a labour safe seat and our local labour councillor has turned off comments on her Facebook page and our labour MP doesn't engage with anyone now because of the criticism they are getting. If they had an election tomorrow I highly doubt labour would win again with their performance so far.

Foreign aid isn’t altruistic or charitable. It’s a necessity for governments who need some influence in volatile areas of the world where what happens will impact on those of us who live thousands of miles away.

Are you ok? Your posts are just personal attacks so carry on. No contribution to the issues at hand thus proving the previous poster’s point. It’s not my fault if people choose to ignore all fiscal news.

mitogoshigg · 18/12/2024 07:36

They are making necessary changes to try to get the country back on track. We are still reeling from the Liz Trust craziness
