To start thinking/planning next year's holidays!?

Sockmate123 · 17/12/2024 22:22

I love Christmas but got a new diary today and started thinking towards the year ahead. We are going Skiing straight after Christmas and a few days in Spain in May...but I've been thinking all day of what else we might do...

Anyone made any plans yet and like to share?

We are going to New York at the end of January and Croatia in April.
Doing the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland in June (Connemara as far as Dingle). That’s as far as we’ve got so far!

NickMyLipple · 17/12/2024 22:32

Dubai in October and I can't wait even though I haven't actually even booked yet 😂

Hippywannabe · 17/12/2024 22:37

Booked already-February Lanzarote, May Tenerife August Wales October Madeira Feb 26 Lanzarote
If I have any Ernie wins, there will be another one!

NeedWineNow · 17/12/2024 22:54

We're booked: cruise to Denmark and Norway in April and Greece for 2 weeks in August. A couple of weekends away, and we are tentatively thinking about booking to go away for Christmas next year.

JBJ · 17/12/2024 23:26

I'm off to Spain to visit a friend in the new year, then got a week booked with 18yo Ds and the dog in Yorkshire in June. Several camping trips/festivals planned with friends over the year and will no doubt squeeze in a few more weekends.

Would've really liked to drive over to Europe with Ds this year, but got nobody to have the dog and kennels, or getting him a health certificate to come with us, is going to double the cost of the holiday, so Yorkshire it is!

June/July road trip France/Italy (booked). Not set in stone but thinking September, October, November in Australia with a week somewhere on the way (fiji, singapore?), then January and February 2026 Canary Islands.

bluesky · 17/12/2024 23:54

Where's warm end of March, but not long flight, Canaries/Lanzarote? Booked Cornwall in June.

mediummumma · 18/12/2024 00:08

I’ve already booked our summer holidays - two weeks in Mallorca. I’ve also booked a three day trip for May for my DD and I, as she’s off on half-term but my son isn’t so he’s staying at home with DH.

I’ve yet to book another three night trip in October to Spain, Ibiza or Mallorca, for DH and I. We do this every year and I love it as it’s very different than when we’re on a family break.

I also have one weekend stay planned for February in a lush local hotel.

Travel and hotel stays are absolutely non-negotiable for me since Covid and I prioritise these spends over decorating the house or upgrading the car.

OP- I hope you continue to fill your new diary with lots of lovely trips and adventures to enjoy.

5foot5 · 18/12/2024 00:13

New Zealand from mid March for three weeks! Stopover in Singapore on the way there.

This is something we have talked about doing for so long that now we have actually booked it we are ridiculously excited and haven't got as far as thinking about anything we might do later in the year.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 18/12/2024 00:20

All booked and paid for! Dh taking 2 kids skiing in Feb for a few days, we are all (5 of us) going to NYC for Easter and I'm very excited as have never been. We have two weeks in the Algarve with a couple of locations and car hire. A weekend with friends in March also. It will be an expensive year but possibly last year with eldest so we are making a big deal of it.

obsessedwithfreshbread · 18/12/2024 00:42

I'm a planner so have next years holidays (and beyond) nailed down
March 25 - mid wales
June 25 - Kos
Nov 25 - London
Dec 25 - Tenerife
June 26 - Barcelona
Sept 26 - Crete

We pay monthly on foreign holidays and book so far in advance that we get great deals, (for Crete 26 we are paying less total than we did for going this year and paying £50 a month)
Already waiting for Dec 26 to be released.
For UK breaks I just trawl the internet for good deals, it can be anything from a caravan, an air bnb or hotel

I just need my countdown to holiday to cope with all the other stuff in life!

TheScenicWay · 18/12/2024 00:52

@obsessedwithfreshbread this is an excellent plan. Which site/travel agent do you use for this or do you work out finances yourself?

Wow! I love planning too, for Crete so far away have you booked with a travel agent? Flights not available yet for so far away...

We are hoping to go to Germany by train in Feb (waiting for a passport to come back before I buy tickets). We'll have a couple of days in Brussels then go on to Germany to stay with a friend. I'm a solo parent to a 6YO and haven't been abroad since she was 5 months - we are both excited!

ToffeePennie · 18/12/2024 07:56

Booked and paid for 2 haven holidays and a weekend away to Chester.

@Sockmate123 @TheScenicWay

I book packages usually with Jet2 or TUI
Jet2 are currently available up until Nov 26

LittleRedRidingHoody · 18/12/2024 12:05

Such a fun thread!

We're skiing in Feb
Butlins with extended family in April for a weekend
DIY driving/camping the NC500 in Scotland in May
European road trip + 2 weeks in Romania with friends in August (I'll have to work during the 2 weeks, but excited to work from a garden table watching DC run round instead of booking yet more holiday camps).

Not sure on October half term yet. I'm leaning AI somewhere warm, and get a break from tents, but need to do some proper research!

BIossomtoes · 18/12/2024 12:14

All booked and mostly paid for

March - Florence
April - Derbyshire
June - North Yorkshire
September - Malta
November - India

RaraRachael · 18/12/2024 12:18

I always used to spend the week between Christmas and New Year looking at summer holidays as it gave me something to look forward to.
OH has a new job which has fixed holidays - first 2 weeks in August - which is not idea but we fancy going back to Dubrovnik and maybe spending a few nights on one of the islands then going back to the hotel we stayed in a few years ago as it was excellent.

We're going to Madrid for our wedding anniversary in Feb and on a cruise to Oslo and Copenhagen in May

FlatStanley50 · 18/12/2024 14:01

We have booked Puglia for May half term and France (road trip to the Auvergne) for 2 weeks in the summer. Need to research a couple of (UK) short breaks - I am thinking York and Deal, maybe. DD wants to go back to Center Parcs so we may do a weekend there too.
