It seems they've cruised along nicely. Thank you tax payer. 20 holidays in 1 year

I've never liked them or been remotely interested in them. She clearly has issues and he enables her (at best).

@Coffeemmmmcoffee I think one girl did go to university but left to come back and look after their siblings

And that is another thing, it is usually down to the girls to help out, not the boys

No the boys are left to fester in their bedrooms on their x boxes 😔

Yes she wasn't exactly encouraged by Sue who probably used emotional blackmail

I think it speaks volumes that none of the older kids seem ambitious or driven in any way.

No higher education, no apprenticeships or even careers to speak of really. I don’t see any sporting achievements or musical instruments being played, none of them have excelled in drama or any extra curricular interests.

The kids used to just appear feral and weirdly anti social in the earlier days and now just seem spoilt with crap food and holidays on which they buy more Disney tat to take home.

But none of them seem to be given the basic guidance and parenting to actual make their own lives fulfilling. No doubt total lack of support/time as individuals has really impacted them and left the older kids aimless.

The girls just seem to get a boyfriend in their late teens then start having babies and get their own council house.

I suppose they are never encouraged to attend anything extra curricular and the family are so insular

You do realise that’s 99% of working class people’s lives ?
I have a friend whose daughter is a child model absolutely stunning little girl and she makes money from Next catalogues that kind of thing. None of the money goes in a bank account towards this child’s future. It’s spent on Day trips for the three not so successful sisters and clothes and exactly as you would expect live life love stickers for the living room.

I guess in the early days it was too complicated (and possibly out of budget) to take so many children to activities at different times/places when they always had 3 or 4 babies and pre-schoolers in tow.

I wondered how they managed at the doctors/dentist/orthodontist/optician etc having to take multiple children to any appointment. Or how they keep on top of all the school admin?
Primary school was full of dress up days, assemblies, bring in a pringle tube for craft, wear this colour for charity, bring party food on that day, bring your bike for cycling proficiency, bring x,y or z for a school trip etc etc

The house looked fairly chaotic in the first few series on channel 4, and I feel you'd need to be super organised with eg 4+ kids let alone 20! (There was more than 1 passport drama I seem to recall) I watched 1 or 2 on channel 5 but they seemed completely set up and staged, less fly on the wall.

ChristmasPudd1990 · 18/12/2024 10:44

There was an episode where they got one of the young boys to try and get into a football club. He didn't make it and he looked so disappointed 😔 Obviously all done for the show. They had no intention of getting him in but built his hopes up🙄 Setting your kids up for disappointment just for "the gram" or whatever. It's pretty sick. None of the others seem to do any clubs or extra activities. Let's face it,every single aspect of the kids lives are documented so I can assume they don't. It's like a little cult. No friends over etc.
Looks like they've never been to a dentist either 🤦‍♀️

MyStylish40s · 18/12/2024 10:45

I wonder if any of the older children feel resentment? They must have had very different childhoods compared to their younger siblings

I‘ve always felt uncomfortable about their “fame”. I can’t get my head around a poor little 13 year old girl becoming pregnant, and having 21 more children until menopause. I actually find it quite tragic and disturbing Sad

AnyoneSomeone · 18/12/2024 10:47

What? You think 99% of WC people have Live, Life, Love stickers in their living room and don't care about their children's future or education.

What a dickish post.

Meant to quote Pithyposter.

Frankly offensive and patronising comment.
99% of lives. Really ?

Well that’s obviously nonsense but even if the kids aren’t going to swimming lessons or football training, it’s very sad to think those Radford kids must miss out on sleepovers with their friends or class parties etc It would be impossible to keep up with whose party it was or who was invited at any given weekend. I thought it was sad when they interviewed one of the kids and he said his best friend was his brother. They obviously just keep themselves to themselves and the kids don’t have any kind of life outside of the cult family.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/12/2024 16:34

I read this yesterday but didn't reply as cba to type and assumed thread would go pop

But still here

As many I am amazed that Noel was never prosecuted for rape of sue. She was 13 and 4 ish mths when got preg and 14yr 2mths when gave birth

Can you imagine if Tilly was giving birth - she is 14 now

I've watched them since the original 16 kids and counting and alongside with other large families

The older shows were good showing every day stuff

Tho awful they took door handles off bedroom doors

Since ch 5 all we seem to see of them

going on holiday - 20 this year I believe

And every time they are late starting school term

Fake arguments between siblings

Bloody Disney world x 100

All kids look starved

Older kids just popping grandkids out

None of the older kids seem to work. Just have kids. Will they stop at 3 - eventually youngest will be 3 and they will have to work if they don't pop out another

Now thread will go pop and I've wasted my time typing that

Have I wandered into Tattle by mistake?

FizzyBisto · 18/12/2024 17:12

It might not be the most important aspect of their situation, but I think it's very sad that the family can't ever travel anywhere by car as a family and all talk together, sing along to their favourite songs or laugh at the silly in-jokes, like most families take for granted.

It's one of life's little everyday bonding opportunities for so many families (yes, I know, there are often many challenging and less pleasurable circumstances too!) - but (short of an actual bus) there isn't even one single commercial vehicle that can accommodate all of them. They can travel with Mum OR with Dad, but never withbboth, when the whole family is going somewhere.

Oh, are we all supposed to be complimentary about them on here and say what an inspirational family they are?

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/12/2024 18:04

The tv threads aren't usually complimentary. Only as so fake now

mrlistersgelfbride · 18/12/2024 18:30

I don't know but I wouldn't want their life for all the money in the world.
Every time I read about them I wonder how Sue has ever slept, had a minute to wipe her arse or time go get her bloody nails done.

Because she doesn’t look after the kids, the older girls do. She literally carries on like she’s still 13 without a care in the world.

AngeloMysterioso · 18/12/2024 18:48

TheFairyCaravan · 17/12/2024 18:24

People are so naive. The tax payer paid out a fortune for them before they got successful with their social media and tv career. He’s not Mr Kipling fgs. And giving birth 22 times, sending all those kids to school etc doesn’t come cheap.

Not to mention the fact that Sue’s had a maternity exemption for free dental care and prescriptions pretty much her entire adult life.
