I'm 36 and according to my sister my car ages me ten years. Wtaf?! It's an Audi a6 estate. So yes, a "mum car". But is this a thing?!

OP posts:

63 and a second hand Ford Fiesta. Quite good fun to drive, and cheap to run!

33 and a ford fiesta - 🤭🤭 i think it makes me seem younger because it's usually the first car kids get when they pass their test

That's the car I got when I first passed my test last year.

I'm a big chunk older than you. 😂

Mintupp · 15/12/2024 18:39

51, recently bought an 11 year old Kia Ceed with a bank loan after a lorry rear ended my old faithful Skoda Octavia estate which was wriitten off. I've had Skodas for years because I'm not into cars and love the reliability and value but this time went for Kia because I changed to automatic and was advised that secondhand auto Skodas aren't as good.

Dd1 (20) has a VW Up and dh has an ancient (20 years old) Skoda Fabia.

We are not a cool family. All my friends and almost all family have WAY nicer and cleaner cars than we do.

noideabutstilltrying · 15/12/2024 18:45

My husband and I have a scirocco TSI R I have a BMW 3 series as a company car.

The rocco is a lot of fun to drive as it's been tuned to get extra BHP.

Angrymum22 · 15/12/2024 18:46

60 and drove a Jaguar FPace until last month. I loved that car but needed to downsize the engine so DS can occasionally drive “the big car” when needed. Could have gone for a 2.0L FPace but was horrified by the recent rebrand so I’ve gone back German with an Audi Q5 Quattro. My DH inevitably does the “fire up the Quattro” every time we use it.

Also have a VW Polo that DS uses when he’s home from uni. Mainly use it for short journeys.

Well done on passing your test! 😄 i do love my little fiesta, I just get the weirdest looks off of local teens

Baroluleni · 15/12/2024 18:48

47 and a BMW M2.
Husband BMW X5
Toyota Aygo as our doggy car and kids to use when home from Uni.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 15/12/2024 18:48

I find car snobbery/agism/one-upmanship tedious and baffling! I don't care about makes of cars and neither does dh. We have a Vauxhall Mokka and a VW Up.

waggytaildog · 15/12/2024 18:48

34 and I drive a white Discovery Sport with a personalised reg Grin

I think that's just about the worst thing to admit to on MN

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 15/12/2024 18:48

We are late 40s/early 50s.

CheeseandWine91 · 15/12/2024 18:49

33, Audi Q3

Patienceinshortsupply · 15/12/2024 18:50

54 and drive a Mercedes GLA AMG.

lespameo · 15/12/2024 18:50

37, Mercedes EQB, which is fully electric. Only had it a month but love it! Before that I had a Skoda kodiaq which I also loved.

Coconutter24 · 15/12/2024 18:51

I’ve just googled an Audi a6 estate and tbh it’s more of a dad car than a mum car 😂😂

snoopyfanaccountant · 15/12/2024 18:51

JulesJules · 15/12/2024 18:29

Do you like your Karoq? We are thinking of getting one next year, either that or possibly a Kamiq

I love it. I have had it for 15 months. I previously had a 2012 Zafira which was bought for its boot space so I had got used to a higher driving position. My drive to work is 20 miles each way on motorway/fast dual carriageway and I feel very safe in the Karoq. The back seat is very roomy (my DDs who are 24 and 21 plus my mum were very comfortable in the back for a 90 minute journey).

BudgieMom · 15/12/2024 17:25

I'm 36 and drive a Renault captur don't know if that counts as a mum car!

DD is 27 with no DC and drives the same, so no according to her.

jaundicedoutlook · 15/12/2024 18:53

45; we have a BMW X5 and an M2 (which is DH’s mid-life crisis car and station car as it’s totally useless for transporting more than 1 passenger).

Ha! Same as us :-)). Except I am
the one with the M2.
We had other makes in the past and they just don’t drive and feel the same as a BMW.

HappyApper · 15/12/2024 18:56

I am 49 and drive a Jaguar Epace. Bought when I was 45 new. I drove a VW Golf into the ground before that. It was 13 years old. Not sure what my car’s say about me! But I love my Jaguar.

claudiawinklemansfringetrimmer · 15/12/2024 18:57

32, Ford C-max. Am not at all a car person, just want to get from a to b without dying and fit the pushchair in the boot

TimeForATerf · 15/12/2024 18:57

58 Mini Countryman.

Comfortable, lots of features, big enough for two people’s big shops, and a large Labrador.
